Being bored at home, no internet, no computer in your pocket, you had to find stuff to do. You had to be creative. Every adventure you went on with friends felt like a mission to discover a new way to have fun. Of course technology has made everything more convenient and easy but being on your own with no phone was a fun way to live.
I'd say it's kind of the opposite. Our technology has made us more tightly connected. I've never met you and it's likely that we live very far apart, but we are able to speak. It used to be that I could realistically only speak to those around me, such as in my town. Even that was too large really. I would have only spoken to those in my schools, people who congregated at events I liked, or restaurants I liked. My exposure to people was largely limited to people who were like me. Even economically, since everyone in my neighborhood would have been able to afford the same type of house more or less. I think the root cause of so many of the issues today is that as a species we're not very accepting of others when they have different opinions. I'm supremely guilty of it. To be frank, I'm very liberal and I am absolutely put off by those with a conservative leaning. I end up interacting with those people on the internet and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They probably don't like the experience on their end either. I think both of us go our separate ways feeling a bit less positive about the state of the world because it turns out that the world isn't what we thought it was. I was under the impression that many more people agreed with me and it gave me comfort. The other guy probably felt the same. We now see the world populated by people who "just have it wrong" or "are dragging this world down". Previously it would take generations of people before populations were completely merged. It allowed children of each generation to adjust and accommodate both views of the world and to interact with people who believed those things. Now, an internet connection brings those people and ideas into our lives instantly. We've never had our worldview challenged so quickly. So in short, if that is still possible, our technology has exposed us directly to the sum total of humanity and we aren't prepared for that because we all live in a world we created in our heads, based on what we could see out our windows.

Born in 88' here. I think you can tell how much more money they used to generate by movie rental stores/theaters before the digital streaming era. I mean look at the vast array of movie trailers. You don't see them near as frequently anymore.
What I've noticed is that, back then, they didn't have to hype up a movie too much. They just had to show a couple of main actors and a few snipits. Back then, going to the movies was a major thing, so any excuse to see a movie was taken. Nowadays, studios have to create elaborate trailers and teasers in order to garner any attention from the masses. Kids today would much rather be on the internet playing a game at home than watching a new movie in theaters or otherwise. In the 90s, elaborate advertising for a movie was rare, but considered genius. Like how Godzilla 1998 was advertised. Even though it was a crappy movie, the advertising was next level.
When I go back to watch Star Trek deep space nine I'm going to watch a few minutes of this video in the middle of every episode so I can get the full '90s experience.

@@misterclownface My sister had Billy Madison on vhs.
Crying w u 😩
Honestly, these help me with my anxiety for some reason. Maybe it’s because I remember these commercials as a child.
R.I.P. Blockbuster, Sears, Saturn, and a lot of bad TV shows...
And the Messed up World today which is Worse
and Kmart, Toys R US, and much more
Back when people weren’t slaves to their phones. The 90’s felt so safe, fun, and comfortable
Yep and we still went outside to hang out with friends. Or go to the movies, park. The 90s definitely had a level of fun and comfortable. Better than now
@@UrbanNoizeMusic dude take off your nostalgia eyes out the 90s era is starting to look outdated and campy.
We wouldn’t have wanted phones if they were available. Outside every single day after 4, and Fridays until TGIF came on!!!!
@@forrestcommander6283 90s were just as bad.. Take off those foggy nostalgia glasses
I bet you made this comment on a phone, tho.
I didn't realize how much I needed this. As I sit here and watch this, and on the other tv screen playing 90s video games; trying to recapture my youth. Thank you for this tho.
The 90's were so lighthearted and fun compared to today's world. I think we all took it for granted.
Hell, I just LOVE your channel. I'm not even from the US, I'm from Argentina, but still the "nostalgic vibe" is all over the place.
So glad I was an '83 baby to be a 90s kid.....such a great time.....great movies. NO SJWS OR CANCEL CULTURE !!!! Tv was so much better back then
most shows has some sort of lesson they taught you about being a good human being, now it's just woke propaganda about strong female characters, LGBTQR+, patriarchy bad, and racial relations
White liberal ultra woke progressives hadn't invaded every aspect of society yet.
Yeah I think the internet is worse than everyone thinks it is. That's the reason society is the way it is. I'd give it all up to be there again.
12/23/1983 is when I arrived! Good to read your words! I MISS THE 90's!!! TV. MUSIC, VIDEO GAMES, FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS AND MOVIES WERE BETTER! I EVEN REMEMBER WHEN RONALD MCDONALD CAME TO THE RESTAURANT. BAVE A GOOD ONE!
AMEN OCGM, I was born in 93 and got to experience the tail end of America before the woke leftists took over
I was born in 1985 so this brings me back to the good old days!!! 2pac, Bone Thugs in Harmony, the Chicago Bulls, In Living color, the Simpsons, Mad tv, Muthaf****** Muggsy Bogues and the Hornets, Starter jackets and Jnco jeans, clear Pepsi (yes I know but still) Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter on the Sega and not on the SNES, Keith Sweat, Reebok pumps, TGIF, Fila clothes........ wow I actually felt like I was back in the 90's when I thought of all these things : (
Born in 88' here.
Used to avoid commercials like the plague, now i'm chillin at 1 in the morning, enjoy a compilation of them.... crazy.
When I go back to watch Star Trek deep space nine I'm going to watch a few minutes of this video in the middle of every episode so I can get the full '90s experience.
I do that all the time
I should do that 🤯
That sears commercial hits home. My mom used to measure us to get our school clothes from the catalog in the 80's. lol
Ugh I hate waiting to skip these ads. I'm trying to watch some commercials here!
The NBA Jam commercial hit me in the feels 😪
I had fun playing it on Nintendo.
Heavyweights, such an underrated film.
Josh Brinbaum get on the scale!…. GET OFF THE SCALE!
Come ear you devil log...
must.....be..... GOOD TO SEE MY BIG ASS AGAIN!!
I did not send you to go-kart camp!
@@brianthomas3451 lol Jeffrey Tambor!!
I´m from Brazil, thanks for the opportunity to watch all these commercials, I always dream about traveling to the United States and stay watching the Tv Channels from the USA in the hotel hehehe
The more of these I watch, the more I hate the present.
Thank you for not putting water marks on this! These are really great quality on top.
You're making it so other people can archive these types of files Thank you
I remember theater hopping with my friend and watching The Quick and The Dead for free after paying to watch House Guest. we were little elementary school hoodlums. lol.
These commercials are like a time machine to my childhood
Grew up in the 90s and this video brought back some good memories.
The taco bell commercial is an example of what we did without any cellphones.
Born in 1990. It was an amazing decade to be a kid 💕
I remember a bunch of these. I have not thought about them since they were on TV probably. But as soon as i see it it threw me back to a different time.
Heavyweights! That's one of, if not my favorite Disney flick.
Born 89 grew up 90's so many memories I remember watching the X-Files as kid new episodes Sundays at 9 pm on fox I miss waiting a whole week for new episodes instead we are spoiled get whole seasons in 1 sitting on streams, or buying video games at home instead of leaving going to the store at night stopping by taco bell or mcdes getting home and just start playing or going out rent a movie or a game at blockbuster buying snacks on Friday night at your friend's or cousins house playing late but getting up early cause Saturday morning we get new cartoons then aging video games go outside play tag wait for the Saturday night to watch Saturday night cartoons. NOTHING LIKE THE 90'S 👍🏼
Nobody in my circle remembers when McDonalds had the slogan, "have you had your break today?"
Now it's , "I'm loving it!"
Do you remember "It's a good time for the great taste" or "Food, folks and fun?"
Really? Shoot soon as I heard the very beginning my brain smiled cause it knew.
As a kid I used to hate when commercials would come on. They interrupted my shows. Now I find myself watching UA-cam videos of commercials (perhaps the good ‘ol days) I miss.
People talk how nostalgia blinds us from the reality, but, I've nver lived in the 70s and 80s, but I rather live back then than nowadays, I lived in the 90s and I would also like to live again back then, but not because of nostalgia, but for the tranquility and simplicity of that time. Heck I'd even live in medieval times for the same reason.
I feel the same exact way
I want to go back to the 20's, 40's 60's and 70's
Man we had it made. Please take me back and keep me there.
the 90s was a magical decade
Geez brings back memories, bring back the 90s
taco Bells slogan being "cross the border" is the funniest part of this
😂😂😂
People would be outraged with that slogan in this day.
@@masterpringle9434 facts! 😂
Blockbuster Commercials never get old..
By my estimate, I owe Blockbuster about $2,325 in late fees.
And those late fees were no joke 😆 I'd have to ask my mother the next time I see her if she ever had to pay late fees.
Love that this if from my town: Cleveland. Makes it all the more sentimental
Did you know that anchor that is shown in this too?
Right. When I live Value City my heart smiled
One thing missing from this world. Smart phones. Those where the days
Smart phones are partially why we'll never have those days back
1995 Me: Ahh another commercial?!
2021 Me: Watching hours of nothing but commercials
I feel like we live in the world of Demolition Man (speaking of the 90's), like old commercials are better than current tv programming.
It’s funny how as a kid I hated seeing commercials but now as an adult I’m practically binging 90s commercials
Sit down
also a sign of the times, you can tell this was recorded on a VCR, the bottom of screen is flickering. Adjust the tracking!!! 😂😂
There was something so cozy about that time.
I keep waiting for the show to come back on but then I remember it's just commercials Lol
Man, Heavyweights and Casper were my two go-to childhood movies.
Though at this time I was still watching Eureka's Castle.
We need to go back.
If only we could...
YES ! YES WE DO.
How?!
@@Gapgirl-yk4sh take me too
@@Super122291 I will soon as I figure out how lol
That NBA Jam commercial is really cool it made me want to play
People had beepers at that time instead of smartphones in 1995. I remember my dad was a wrecker driver, and he had his beeper, when it beeps, he would stop at the convenience store, and pay 25 cents at a payphone.
The 90's were the best I graduated in 1995 lol I remember a lot of these commercials
I remember when netflix first came out I told my friends "blockbuster is doomed".
To make matters worse Blockbuster had a chance to buy Netflix and didn't...Hell they were basically begging Blockbuster to buy them but they underestimated them .....Stupid oh well ....smh
I was a young teen during this decade. Remember it like it was yesterday. Life was so much different then.
