    I made this video to get a better understanding of the different products for leather on the market, I dont like conditioners and never will but I want my leather matte and maintained regularly. If your leather is neglected obviously you're going to need a strong cleaner to restore and degrease it, but if you've done that and want to take care of your leather how a regular basis then Koch Chemie Pol Star is a great option for that purpose. Be gentle with leather if it doesn't need aggressive clean and scrub that's probably my best advice.

    I think what you're seeing is the protection from Po. I've cleaned a 2006 BMW grey leather interior which has never been cleaned professionally before, no stains just worn in dirt. Using Po at 10:1 with a scrubpad, you can clearly see on the grey leather that all dirt has been removed from the texture and creases but it leaves a finished which I could describe as silky.

    • @Detailing_Dogma
      @Detailing_Dogma  4 дні тому

      Hey Roger thank you for tuning in, you're not the first one to mention the fact that PO has a light protection component. We can test it further if you want, but on hard plastic it doesn't leave or change the finish so I doubt it would on leather. I want to agree with you but with all the testing that I have done PO lacks power for extra dirty cars in my experiences even at 5:1. It's built to maintain fairly clean cars, it has limitations in other words, this is why its PH neutral. The guys over at KCX USA likes to mix with greenstar for this exact reason. I like the product to clean my steering weekly with a damp towel it's great. Don't forget scrub pads can be abrasive even they tell you they arent.

    FYI: polstar has darkening and protective agents similar to P&S xpress. This is most likely why you are seeing the darkening/gloss effect. Green star 15:1 is my go to for dirty interiors. Polstar is great for monthly cleanings.

    I concur per my experience as well, I got one of the initial release of Koch Chemie when they first launch in the US and i have to say i was sold till after a year of using it i noticed the product seemed to be less effective than the first initial release, in my opinion its like a diluted version, i still use their compounds from time to time for mild to moderate polishing when i need a break on my main products Sonax or 3M for paint correction and carpro/gyeon for finishing and prep for sio2.

    I read a comment where someone said the dirt that was seen on the scrub ninja was actually the leather dye. I hope not, but what's your thoughts on this?

    • @Detailing_Dogma
      @Detailing_Dogma  6 місяців тому +3

      Hey thanks for reaching out, I have never seen dye pulled from a scrub ninja unless a repainted steering or some sort of after market repair spot. Such scrub pad should be used occasionally if we're talking personal car, they can be a little abrasive if used with ton of pressure but shouldn't cause any issue if used with common sense, at least in my experience. The secret is doing one deep clean and from that point on staying on top of it with regular maintenance in a gentle process. I have a video on overall maintenance coming soon stay tuned.

    Not really comparable, MZR was a more suited comparison as they’re both on the alkaline side. PO is great for Alcantara as it is neutral and safe for it.
    This might lead viewers to wrong conclusions.

    • @Detailing_Dogma
      @Detailing_Dogma  6 місяців тому +2

      Understood, but it's simply a comparison between 2 popular leather product in north america. MZR isn't here and polstar is still labeled as a neutral leather cleaner, if you pay attention in the conclusion i'm giving suggestion for both product they have different purposes obviously. Thanks for the feedback

      @@Detailing_Dogmaas a general fact, if you need power use higher Ph products like MZR 1:20-1:10. As you said people have or had high expectations from PO because some "detailers" advertised and presented it as an allround cleaner. I use it since 3 or 4 years now, but this should be used for maintenance on leather seats mainly, better for alcantara and plastics, I wouldn't use for fabrics with extractor because of too much foam. Great smell and leaves a bit of protection as well.

    For example what if you used pol start straight and Carpro Insyde diluted, the pol start would have performed better no?

    • @Detailing_Dogma
      @Detailing_Dogma  Місяць тому

      Hey man thanks tuning in the video and the channel! First off Koch Chemie Pol Star has to be diluted at least 5:1 (max strength) which is how I use it. CARPRO inside is RTU or ready to use but yes people have had success with it at 1:1 to 2:1 and so on. I like to use products how they are intended to be and tested by the Brand it self so here's my final recommendation. Use CARPRO inside for dirty jobs or if you clean your car once in a while, not regularly. If you stay on top on your car every 2 to 4 weeks and it's not greasy or shiny interior for example you can go ahead with Pol Star and use it as a maintenance product.
