Nice car. The battery is located under the rear seat. I believe that when the cars left the factory they were positive earth (some have been changed to negative earth) so the cable hanging down should be the negative connection to the battery.
How right you are. I had worked that out in the meantime. I guess if I just put a meter on the positive terminal/lead and the body and test for resistance, I'll know one way or the other. No radio fitted ever, so I'm guessing still positive earth.
