our 4 boys are from Pets at home, they are 26 months now and have always had the best personalities, and so far no health issues. We got them before we knew pets at home weren't great but honestly they are just amazing
I have just bought 3 male baby rats from pets at home as it is very hard to find breeders near me & the one that was nearer had a very long waiting list. To be honest the man who served me was very knowledgeable as he kept rats himself & said the babies were handled every day. He took them out & let me handle them & they were all very friendly. He did say that I would have to take the three & not two as they do not leave one rat alone. He also checked them & their breathing & said that if anything medical happens in the next 30 days that they would reimburse the vet bill, as long as the vet was contacted to confirm illness. I also understand the unethical breeding practices, but at least the staff were handling them regularly to socialise them. He told me that they do this now as it stops people from returning them if they can't handle them. Maybe my local store is better as I do take both my dogs for grooming there & my boys love the ladies who groom them.
I have deleted my social media for mental health reasons so I really do appriciate the updates on everything including how the rescue is doing here on youtube ❤
I love your videos so much since I'm getting 2 little ratties soon you've taught me so much and I feel like I can say that for all people that watch your videos
i first found ur channel when i had initially decided i wanted rats about 2 years ago at this point and your care videos definitely helped so much at the time (and even still i go back to refresh myself on occasion) but it’ll be really exciting to get to see more videos like this too, especially if this is what you enjoy making more :)
I haven't even finished watching yet (I'm only 5 minutes in lol) but I just wanted to say that I'm so happy to hear that this is the type of content that you enjoy filming the most - as it's also the type of video I love watching the most. Just the normal, everyday stuff / vlogs, hearing how you and your animals have been doing , ... it's so interesting and nice to watch these types of videos. ♥
I’ve had my girlies for about 6 months now! It’s crazy how fast it goes. I remember commenting last year that I was gonna get rats in a couple months! They’re little hellions but Lordy I love them
Your oldest rat is gonna be as old as my twin rats😭❤️ their birthday is April 4 and they are doin so well! I am so happy for your rats and for how healthy they are❤️
The acorn!! So incredibly cute, I had to place an order immediately. 😂 It's going so well with my naturalistic theme and I'm sure my rats are going to love it!! 😍 And it was great to see all of your rats and mice again!! So glad to hear Polo has been doing well!
Maybe you don’t know it all Em but your vids have made my owning rats a WONDERFUL experience! I trust u and your knowledge more than anyone on social media!!!
Hi Emi, It’s Fina I wrote to you a while back. You may not remember me. I still have my two mice salt and pepper that I got from the pet store. You have helped me so much. I didn’t know any proper care and then I found you. now they are three years old and since they’re feeder mice that is a big deal. Thank you so much for all you taught me.
I personally enjoy the videos that are action jam packed with care tips and daily activities you do. It would be also cool to see a hair care routine or a house tour
Just want to say thank you for continuing to post! I commented a long while ago about how my first boy, my heart rat, loved the sound of your voice. He and I would cuddle and enjoy your videos together. He passed a few months ago now, he was 3 years and some months old. Hearing your voice brings me comfort, so again thank you.
Can't believe I'm here so early!! Thanks so much for your content, because I had seen your videos I was able to help my friend make a more enriching active setup for her rats. Her setup before wasn't bad, it was just boring without any challenges and now instead of bowl feeding she's scatterfeeding! Her beanie boys are so happy now thanks to you
I ordered from Henry’s Happy Homes a few days ago for Tango, my 2.5 year old Syrian hamster, and I’m so excited for it to arrive! She’s spending a lot more time sleeping in her multichamber hide so I bought her the biggest one they do as an upgrade. I think she’ll love it
I loved getting to hang out with your rats and mice...they are so cute and such individual characters! Thanks for this update and I am glad you are doing the type of videos that make you happy!
Hi Emi!! I have a request for a video because I’m kind of having a hard time free roaming my two rats the first problem with it is basically just finding nice things or just like ideas of things I can make for them, so if you have any tips I’d love if you would have made a video about it :) or maybe just give us a tour of your set up for free roam
Your hair looks gorgeous honestly. I dyed my hair black a few months ago thinking it'd be a mistake, and honestly I absolutely love it. I think dark hair is fantastic and often overlooked in comparison to blonde/light hair. You're rocking it, looks super good on you.
Hi Emi! I just got baby rats, and I wanted to say how much they remind me of Aero! I got two dwarfs and a standard, Pigeon is the one that reminds me of Aero! It’s been three days, and he is a ball of energy!! Despite his dwarf size, he is pure chaos but also super lovely. I’m SO excited to introduce them to the big rats. We got a $75 DCN, so we’ll have a QCN soon!!
the most vocally abusive/downputting/angry opinion people, i think, tend to have the least to contribute to any general discussion. Do what makes you happy, and good job with all the pet love
Howdid i only now learn that ur neurodivergent lol. I have adhd and autism and recently become OBSESSED with rats. How they hold things, run around, sleep in a pile etc. I honestly love these chat videos so much
I love long videos I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. Those cute little rat hops with the forage ball and the tiny harvest mice…there was so much in there it was hard to pick out my favorite bit. Amazing.
Love a long vlog! Something to watch while my rats are causing havoc around me. 😂 I find it hilarious that one of my boys is also obsessed with biting toes and feet, my Olly is so obsessed with toes, that I need to wear slippers and when I'm sitting down I have a blanket covering my feet, because he just once to take them with him. 🤣 I'm so happy for you that you have Aero as your heart rat, when I lost my Monty last May, I didn't think I'd find a heart rat anytime soon, but Olly has somehow turned into one, he reminds me so much of my Monty. Olly did start showing small signs of hormonal aggression in December though (puffing up, starting small fights for no reason, rubbing his scent glands against things), so at the beginning of January he got the chemical castration implant and now his back to his sweet self. He's my biggest rat, but he's also pure muscle, so I know exactly what you mean with Crumpet. 😆 The updates on the rats were great, love seeing your boys running around and having fun. 🥰
"You have a thing- that's okay. Some people have a thing" 😂🐁🦶 Your hair looks fantastic. The best best rats we've ever had but were also very hyper and escape artists, came from the local animal rescue center that my kiddo volunteers at. We are always keeping our eyes peeled for more rats from there. The 1st day that I tried to pat Frankie (old name was BananaMan), he bit me. But he had half a tail and it was still healing. I couldn't stop thinking about him, I went back and he became my shoulder buddy. We have too many places in the States similar to pets at home…. I can't step foot in these places. I want to rescue all the rats. We just lost our Winterbelle 2 weeks ago and I still cry every time I think of whatever so many of these rats have that is genetic that cannot be helped. And they sell them to innocent people. Innocent animals to innocent people and then they don't understand why the rats don't live longer than a year and a few months at the most. I hate rodent Mills. I hate them. Mortimer is the only boy that we have left with that genetic thing that is awful, but he has gotten so brave since Winterbelle died. I think he saw how we handled that with them, and now he comes to me all the time and wants to ride on my shoulder. Turns out, too, he is quite the jumper. But it scares me because he is so frail. I have to always remember that I might only have them for a small time but they have me for their entire life 😭 Thankfully this past month we have found a great breeder that is close, So everything we've been through with pet stores will absolutely be a thing of the past. Very traumatic. Thank you for your videos. Thank you thank you. Also I was diagnosed this week with something called Ehler's Danlos- my daughter was diagnosed last month. It is a painful connective tissue disorder and we always have health issues & tendonitis issues... Our rats are our joy. I've wondered if you also have Ehler's Danlos. 💜
I'm watching loads of ur videos to properly prepare to get rats because they're such lovely, misunderstood animals and I want to give them the best life I possibly can :)
I'm looki g really forward to seeing more "you" videos!! I really just enjoy the little window in to other people's lives, as you said they're my favorite type of videos to watch!
Your rescues have doe personalities 😂💗 Everything you mentioned about loving them, is why female rats have my heart. Love all my bucks, but I prefer doe personalities and energy!
im getting 3 baby male rats this sunday and ive gotten so many helpful care tips from you and i am so excited to get them! im getting them from a reputable breeder and one of them is a black silvermane dumbo self rex and hes so cute, i cant wait to get them! thank you so much for posting videos and spreading good information about rats, ive learned a lot!
I love love love watching your videos especially of your ratties because it makes me so so very happy that I’m getting 2 rats of my own and they will have great lives because of UA-camrs like you ❤
I love your videos. Always enjoy seeing your pets. Enjoying the videos of all topics. Been really helpful in regards my rats. I think we are always learning about them as each one is so different they kind of surprise us every time. Even looking at the toys to get for the rats helps me out a lot, since not many pets shops around my area sell for rats. It is mostly Cats, dogs and hamsters. I do buy rats from Pets at home. Each one melts my heart with their funny ways. I dont get out much as due to ill health. But they help me by making me smile every time I wake up to going sleep. So glad I found your videos as it helps so much to making my fur babies life so much better than where they were. As they are so worth the love. Thank you. x
hello! it's lovely to see updates on the animals! would you mind sharing what varnish you use for wood items? I've been wanting to get more wooden hides for my two girls and have no idea how to protect them
as a 27 year old, can agree, i am quite tired LOL you're my favorite YT channel, i'm glad you are going to focus more on what you like this year i don't post on my own channel (i have a knitting channel under another account b/c its my special interest lol) because of the "what other people want" vs "what i enjoy posting" thing
I think there's an online culture of people assuming they're entitled to nitpick everything you do just because you've put it out there in public. I suspect if they ran into you in person they wouldn't say things in the same way. You do you and concentrate on your mental health and personal goals. Nobody is perfect, I've been owning gerbils for nearly 20 years, starting when I was 7 so over time I've made a LOT of mistakes and despite learning so much and knowing enough now that I could confidently try and help and teach others how to improve their care I still can't bring myself to do it knowing the keyboard mafia would pick fault with absolutely everything. 😂😂 Just make whatever content you want that makes you feel happy. I like your videos because although nobody is perfect, you put the welfare of your animals FIRST and constantly improve and that should be the take home message ☺️
People are free to nit pick all they like, I’ve got no issues with people sharing their opinions and I very rarely block someone or delete their comments unless I fear it’s harmful information for others reading it. What they don’t like is when you talk back, or disagree with them; people forget you’re a person who also has an opinion and think you need to remain diplomatic and ‘professional’ nope 😅
@@Emiology Of course, and when I say nit pick I don't mean necessarily that it's bad to point out stuff or anything but sometimes I just think people's expectations are too high and they forget that you're just a person making videos and not an entire team of people that must get absolutely everything 100% perfect all of the time- and they shouldn't get mad if and when you choose to stand your ground over a matter. 😂 (I mean, they will, but in my opinion they shouldn't). 😊
Omg! My rat, Gussy also had an abscess in that same exact spot. I found it Friday and she popped it herself two days ago. I really thought she had that aggressive cancer☹️ so I understand your fear! My girl, Gussy, is now on some antibiotics🥰
first offf, not snapes!! lol and secondly, i love this type of vlog! very calm and relaxed, it feels like im having a nice sit down talk with a friend :)
I just bought 2 rats from pets at home and they are amazing personalities! Also, I would rather buy from pets at home and give rats who have been brought up in less than desirable conditions a better quality of life. Although I do understand that buying from pets at home is maybe funding unethical breeding practices which I totally get.
Unfortunately you’ll never be able to give the animals that are truly suffering behind the scenes a better life. The parents of the rats you bought are the ones they keep in little drawers breeding continuous litters until they pass away and they’ll never know love or enrichment ☹️ Each purchase of their offspring is a vote to keep them breeding in those conditions due to the demand for people wanting to buy them. Less rats purchased = less adult rats being bred in horrible conditions. If you want to ‘rescue’ pets at home rats they often have them in the adoption section where it’s not a purchase, I also have pets at home rats that I took from someone two weeks after they bought them and didn’t like them and they were / are the best boys 🥹
What would you recommend I do with my rat Wilfred. Most of the time he is perfectly chilled and gets on with his own thing and snuggles with the others when he’s in the cage. The last 3 months he has changed and when he’s out of the cage he can sometimes get very aggressive with the others and has bit my hands nasty a couple of times with no reason. He’s nearly 1 years old and hasn’t been neutered. I’ve noticed my 3 other rats are getting frightened of him
Sometimes it can happen outside of the cage only, I’ve had a few hormonal rats who wouldn’t be as bad in the cage but they’d run up and bite me during free roam, but it’s not great for you or the other rats. I’d take him to the vet check that he isn’t in pain anywhere, and see about getting him neutered. I’ve neutered rats like that at 1.5 years old and it still massively helped so that’s the first step
Can you do a video on getting through the grieving process? I just lost my second baby and the guilt, shame, thinking what if is eating at me. Much love ❤️
Also when are you going to be doing another reacting to mouse cages. I would like to make sure I'm doing everything correctly and giving them the best life possible
bless you! just try your hardest to ignore the negative comments, as there are always going to be people who are just plain keyboard warriors! you do a fine job in your content and it shows with your babies. They are all soooooooo gorgeous and look really happy. I have my last brother of three Ronnie left, who now owns the front room literally. He's in his golden years, being nearly 3, Has 4 villas around the room all with amenities. He is the most loving pet I have EVER had and is always so eager to please me. He gets his cuddles every night and loves the baby toothbrush for itches that he can't quite get too now. His little face cheers me up no matter how I'm feeling bless him. Sorry, ranted off a bit there! Keep up the great work and enjoy those little bundles of joy 😍
In the summer holidays, when i hv spare time 4 intros, we r thinging of getting another pair of mice. Where do u get rescues from? I checked preloved but they are all a million miles away from us. 😅
Aw my hamster kind of has the same personality as pudding, he’s 18 months and is starting to look like a little old man 😅 he’s still happily wondering around doing his own thing in his enclosure though!
I love hoodies. I had 3 boys from an exotic pet shop and they lived to 36 months and didn’t have any health issues. My 3 were so funny there personality were lovely. I’ve got boys who want to be on you and with you all the time, I’ve 3 boys who don’t really like being handled. My girls are just mad there into .
Hey guys, I’m looking for some help and advice. I currently have one rat (originally had two but the other one died on October 1st of this year from what I suspect to be kidney disease and failure), he is almost 5 years old, for anyone who doesn’t know, the average lifespan for a non-neutered/non-spayed rat is 2 and a half to 3 years. Other than being very old, which is obviously a bit of a health concern in itself, he has quite a large tumour on his left side, on his ribs. It is at the point where the tumour pretty much touches the ground, he can still run around and such just fine but he seems to be having some troubles cleaning his privates, feet, and tail and such. He does not seem to be in any pain whatsoever, no porphyria (red juice that oozes form the eyes and nose of small mammals when they’re stressed) and no side sucking (pretty self-explanatory, animals suck in their sides when they’re having difficulty breathing). He has had the tumour for around 2 and a half months and it doesn’t show any signs of being cancerous or anything, it’s on the outside of the organs and seems to be growing outward, it isn’t spreading at all just growing steadily larger, and the bump itself doesn’t seem to cause him any pain if it is touched. Really, the only problem is just the sheer size of the tumour, the closest comparison I can come up with is if you take your index, middle, and ring finger together, curled them up, and then rounded out the edges. At what point should I start thinking about euthanasia? Like, at what point is the tumour too big? Since he’s so old, the chances of him surviving a removal surgery are very unlikely plus just how stressful the vet trip would be and there’s a very likely chance that the tumour would just grow back. I don’t want to be forcing medications into him for his last little while in life. I would love any tips or personal experiences, sorry this was so long, thanks in advance, he really is everything to me.
Unfortunately I think it’s coming up to the time to have to start thinking about quality of life, especially if you’re not going to be getting him some more friends ASAP. if it’s dragging on the ground and limiting his ability to do things for himself like clean himself, it’s going to start feeling very uncomfortable for him. At that size it’s at risk of being too tight on the skin opening up and that’s incredibly painful to them. I’m sorry, I’d give him a good few last days and then see about having him booked in 💔
@@Emiology yes, it’s definitely been a hard road, I was so worried how he would react after his brother passed away but in the end he didn’t show any signs of stress at all. I figured it would be more stressful for him to have to get used to a new rat and then there’s what to do with the remaining rat when one or the other passed away. Definitely it splitting open was what I was most worried about since it has grown so much, I couldn’t find anything on how to tell if the skin was getting too tight. I’ll probably give our vet a call and see what they think but I think that it’s definitely getting close to his time. It’s unfortunately such a stressful way to go so I want it to be a last resort but I also don’t want him to be in any pain at all. His brother did in my arms so I had hoped that he would be able to go in a similar way but I suppose you can’t get so lucky twice.
I got rats yesterday and they just don’t wanna free roam? When I open the cage doors, they come up to the front but they just don’t wanna leave, is that normal?
Very normal, it's only been a day, they're still trying to settle into their new home so I wouldn't be trying to free roam them just yet, until they're more used to their cage and you :)
I’m not sure what cages you can get over there but I recommend if you can buying a large metal cage straight away like a critter nation or liberta explorer as most people end up with them eventually
Hi I'm just looking for some advice for my new rats as I wanna give them the best life I can and bind with them the best I can😊i recently got rats from a pet store and I know that's not the best but I only learned that when watching your videos on how to bond and is there any tips you can give to bind with 2 female rats ones (nugget) is very shy and has a bad habit of looking for my hand to nip and the other (Yumi) is super energetic and confident but is very hard to try and handle I would appreciate any help as I'd love to bond with them
i am thinking about adopting a new rat after not having one for a long time - all the god cages i have found have a wire spacing of 7/8 - is that too big for a 3-month old? google says it can’t be greater than 1/2 and i want to make sure they are safe
Your hair looks good, not Snape like. You care for your rats so well, they are happy and healthy and loved. It’s good to please yourself, you do not have to kowtow to the people who love to criticize. I love watching your channel. I lost my last girl before Christmas and have not gotten any other rats because of a health issue I’m having. But mainly because my heart is broken from losing all my pocket dogs last year due to age related issues. And I’m not mentally or emotionally prepared to take on more rats. Their life spans are just too terribly short, I need a break to recuperate my balance. Some day, I’ll get more babies. Until then, I love watching your sweeties. Take care, and don’t let people with icky attitudes bother you, they aren’t worth your attention

Also I was diagnosed this week with something called Ehler's Danlos- my daughter was diagnosed last month. It is a painful connective tissue disorder and we always have health issues & tendonitis issues... Our rats are our joy. I've wondered if you also have Ehler's Danlos. 💜
I do (I think) I’ve got an appointment at the end of March to hopefully try and get a diagnosis!
Your hair looks super healthy and bold, The tone of black suits you 💕
I like the style of your videos. Really a breath of fresh air.
Your rescues have doe personalities 😂💗 Everything you mentioned about loving them, is why female rats have my heart. Love all my bucks, but I prefer doe personalities and energy!
I love when the simple things get us full of joy 💞
My friend recommended you to me since I'm getting 2 rats soon and she has 4 rats and I'm loving you're videos there entertaining and informational. 🐀
It was really exciting when you posted today because today is my birthday!
Happy birthday to you! 🧡🧡
@@Emiology Thank you!! 💚

So jealous that sounds so cute 😍
@@Emiology i bought some malt past off your store so im going to (hopefully!) win them over with that >:3
ps: your hair looks very nice
I love love love watching your videos especially of your ratties because it makes me so so very happy that I’m getting 2 rats of my own and they will have great lives because of UA-camrs like you ❤
Your videos are so calming, and you have such a lovely accent! Wishing you "Mickey Mouse dressing gown energy" for 2023!!
Yay Emi’s back happy extremely late new year!
I've been wanting to get more wooden hides for my two girls and have no idea how to protect them
as a 27 year old, can agree, i am quite tired LOL
you're my favorite YT channel, i'm glad you are going to focus more on what you like this year
i don't post on my own channel (i have a knitting channel under another account b/c its my special interest lol) because of the "what other people want" vs "what i enjoy posting" thing

OOoooh, Pudding got so old!
Two of my boys are (hopefully) hitting three this year, it's always a rough time.
The acorns are soo cute and I loved this vid
you chill me in times of vanquish , so I don't overheat , you give me purpose until I find some more ratties or maybe 2 buns or a Capybara x 😍
Oooh love all your animals ❤️ Found you through Victoria and I find it so cool how you are best friends :)
Any one who criticizes you is crazy! You know rats! I know because I know rats! Thank you for advocating for are little loves!
Awwwww , ratties are the BEST !!! ♥️
Do what you want to do Darling. I absolutly LOVE your videos you really saved me on my journey into a mice life
I love your rats so much and have a nice day❤
Our kittens used their needles to turn a needle felted polar bear into a needle, felted cloud☁️
Thank you for making lovely videos :)
Pleased everyone is doing well. All your rats & mice and Hubble are super cute 🥰
very well said! you do you 😊 love your content 💜
I so wanted some Rustic ratties stuff, so sad they aren't now available.😢
Can you tell me some tips for getting my first rats
U telling me that u saw me walk past, i was wearing a Hello Kitty gown out idk where u are based but i would go crazy if were in the same area oml
In the summer holidays, when i hv spare time 4 intros, we r thinging of getting another pair of mice. Where do u get rescues from? I checked preloved but they are all a million miles away from us. 😅
What song are you using in the background? That guitar loop is stuck in my head!
Aw my hamster kind of has the same personality as pudding, he’s 18 months and is starting to look like a little old man 😅 he’s still happily wondering around doing his own thing in his enclosure though!
"MUST De-feet dah evil socks!!!"
I detach all the hooks and clips from my old hammocks. They come in handy when I need to hang something else in the cage for the girls
I had 3 rats lose their ability to use their back legs? Not consecutive, over the years. I named one Skippy. He lived for almost 3 years! RIP Skippy
i love that yellow castle too. where did you get it from
I love hoodies.
Yayy you're back! :D
I have two mice but I still love watching your rat videos. I am only 13 but I really hope I can get rats for myself soon 😄😄
hold up since when is pudding almost 2? i swear you just got him yesterday! (my rats are almost 2 aswell)
(edit) oml clover is so cute!!
The last two years have just flown by. I got him just before we moved into this house 🤯
My 1st girl was handed over the fence
My other 2 girls are PAH .
And I'm hoping I and them stay lucky.
Man I just got two rats and now I gotta potty train wonder if a litter tray will work 🤔
I got rats yesterday and they just don’t wanna free roam? When I open the cage doors, they come up to the front but they just don’t wanna leave, is that normal?
Very normal, it's only been a day, they're still trying to settle into their new home so I wouldn't be trying to free roam them just yet, until they're more used to their cage and you :)
What a fun vid!
What cage would u recommend for a first time owner? Still doing my research but have no clue on which cage
What country are you in?
@@Emiology i am from the Netherlands
I’m not sure what cages you can get over there but I recommend if you can buying a large metal cage straight away like a critter nation or liberta explorer as most people end up with them eventually
Hi I'm just looking for some advice for my new rats as I wanna give them the best life I can and bind with them the best I can😊i recently got rats from a pet store and I know that's not the best but I only learned that when watching your videos on how to bond and is there any tips you can give to bind with 2 female rats ones (nugget) is very shy and has a bad habit of looking for my hand to nip and the other (Yumi) is super energetic and confident but is very hard to try and handle I would appreciate any help as I'd love to bond with them
So my rat tinsel has a lump on his tail could it be a tumour
i am thinking about adopting a new rat after not having one for a long time - all the god cages i have found have a wire spacing of 7/8 - is that too big for a 3-month old?
google says it can’t be greater than 1/2 and i want to make sure they are safe
…why just one?
Pudding is beautiful.
As long as you are happy ;)
Emi do rats need to have free roam and is it essential?
It’s not ‘essential’ for them to live but to have as much of an enriching happy life as possible yes 😊
@@Emiology Thank u so much and i do provide them with free roam just not everyday and around five times a week thank you
It’s okay if you have a busy day and miss free roam here and there
@@Emiology cool ty
I’m excited just for the relaxed rat videos. I miss how fun they are.
