    I am rehabbing two 2011 budget LR4'S with blown head gaskets. I figured since I was doing one, why not do two? I may do a couple videos on it. I am going to fix some fail points on the engines plus some neat upgrades I will share later.

    I own 2 land rover 07 lr3 & 04 D2
    I was planning a LS 5.3 swap but ace has stop making the kits so now im just going to rebuild the.oem 4.6 parts from alantic British that will eliminate the cylinder sleeve from slipping, I just installed a 4in terrafirma lift kit had to replace headliner, rear sunroof guide rails so rear sunroof will close , also installed terrafirma rock slider and different guards. Ebc rotors and green brake pads .front arb bull bumper and 12k terrafirma winch , I only gave 600 for this D2 from Arizona the lift kit really makes the D2 stand tall

      I think it is on mine, it is deeper and more “thuddy” than that sometimes. I’m also seeing a longer period with low oil pressure on startup now.
      I wouldn’t necessarily pin the same on yours though. I don’t run across rod bearing issues as much as other things making noise on these.

    DYOU HAVE A NEW DOGFRIEND? Road tripping! Finally plan on car camping (originally why I went with a LR4) up north. In September I’m taking it down to Texas. None of this before it gets a new alternator.
    PS - what’s the ideal voltage range for the battery? I’ve got a new battery and am anywhere in between 14.7-15V most of the time, down to 12.2V on other days. Have also heard near 15V is bad 🤔 but I used the GAP tool of another LR4 same year and high 14’s was pretty normal for that one too.

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  10 днів тому +1

      That trip down to Texas should be a fun one! The LR4 is the perfect thing for car camping.
      And yes! That is little Chet. He’s a young stray, he’s starting to feel like he has a home around here.
      I wouldn’t worry about it being in the 14.7-15 range. You won’t hurt anything at 15v. A lot of the modern heavy electrical stuff will charge in the upper 14s since they have a fair amount of high consumption electronics on board. They are pretty smart on how they charge so they will dip much lower in voltage when it’s not needed, but 12.2 is definitely low. There is one thing I would check first on yours though since you are also in the Midwest. Above the passenger wheel, underneath the fender liner there is a ground stud for the battery cable and that needs to be cleaned up sometimes and can cause some goofy voltage stuff. It’s worth taking the cable off and cleaning the contact points.
