These guys are pretty darn good! and this is just street level or city league! THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD! I grew up in the ghettos of detroit (east side 6 mile, more ghetto then where Eminem grew up)...we got the whole neighborhood to play during summers there (we were just high school kids then). yeah, thats right! even the black guys got in on it...we didnt have a real court, this was just on the front lawns of our houses. so....hahahaha....the losing team had to told the string/net, LOL, one guy on each end..human posts. eventually the black dudes got kinda good at it, and the competition got more intense as each summer came by. Ahh man, i miss it!! Good friends, good times, good memories....not an easy sport to play.
in sepak takraw game the most important position is not the killer, it was the tekong (serve), but everyone always learn to spike because it was cool... rolling spike is not same as back flip because you only jump with one dominant leg and the other leg is to kick the ball, and in the same time you must land safely before it to late and cause injury.... just learn the back stroke killing technique first, and learn in the soft surface
this game name is sepak raga first played in Melaka, mid-15th century and spread all over Nusantara which we know nowadays by name Malaysia,Thailand,Indonesia,Brunei,Singapore and Filipine,it's no surprised if sometime u will heard this game originality come from that country especially from Malaysia and Thailand because some of thailand lands part of Tanah Melayu(Malaysia) before separated, now this game popular as Sepak Takraw mix by Malay and Thai word "Sepak" is the Malay word for kick and "takraw" is the Thai word for a woven rattan ball,in Indonesia, sepak takraw was spread from nearby Malaysia across the strait to Riau islands and Riau area in Sumatra as early as the 16th century

Aiman Imran yuph... It's from malaka, that now is thailand, malaysia, singapore, and west indonesia. So the one that has the right to claim is them... But if Srivijaya still exist and didn't break apart into many kingdom such as Malaka Sultanate, almost all of southeast asia was part or it... And there will be no such claim from each nation because we're from one nation) srivijaya...
No, Takraw is the name of the ball in Thai language and Sepak is also the name of the ball in malaysian language. The reason, Thailand and Malaysia are rival king of this sport.
Here in Malaysia, we had to learn it and able to at least play the basic during P.E classes. What a nightmare! (for me at least, :D , really bad at feet coordination)
Sepaktakraw had long story in Malaysia. During Malacca Sultanate empire in 15 century, a man played sepaktakraw with his friends. Accidently, he hit the ball to prince head who passing nearby. That man then killed by the angry prince. If I am not mistaken, that man is a son of minister. Then, this incident caused political problem in the country.

Yes. Perhaps some of the players are involved in competitions, but this was just in a park, in a 'for fun' game.
It'll be the equivalent of pick up basketball in downtown or something. The pros jump higher and kick harder (and they defend better too).
Amazing
