Ashanti has truly found her niche as a vocalist. Her voice, a light syrupy soprano glides over whatever she sings. No need to over exhaust or strain your voice tryna hit those notes in full voice; her strength has always been in her pretty tone.

People get on her not being too powerful vocally but this was excellent
That's because people who don't actually know anything as far as how music works assume that a good singer is someone that is "powerful" and can hit a bunch of high notes. A good singer has excellent intonation, excellent control of their voice and is in tune. That is a good singer. Everyone has a different timbre. Ashanti's tone is very light and wispy- a tone that I personally prefer over the "powerful" ones. Despite what people may think, she knows what she's doing. This was great.

I always liked this song. She did a great job with it. I don't know why she gets dogged. She's very pretty, and sings better than lots of others. Her voice is very pleasant to listen to, and it's uniquely hers in the midst of the cookie cutter sound of today. At least I can recognize her voice.

I do not understand the constant unfair criticism this woman faces - She has *written* a huge number of hits for herself and other artists, there's plenty of live evidence of her considerable vocal abilities, she shrewdly navigated a difficult situation with Murder Inc and Irv Gotti in the early 2000s, and despite some horrible things other artists have said to her over the years - she's never allowed herself to be drawn into a mud slinging match.
