This is the song abba should of sing themselves, would of been a huge hit if abba released it, written by the abba boys, absolutely loved this song first time I heard it years ago, great reaction as always xx
Another Benny Andersson masterpiece (frankly… is there any Benny Andersson song that isn't?). I love this song. Structure similar to AꓭBA / Don't Shut Me Down in terms of the slower verse leading into the uptempo chorus. Also right up there with the lyrics by Björn Ulvaeus. Always great story telling. Had AꓭBA gotten back together earlier to record a new album, this could have easily been a great AꓭBA song. Steps covered this song (and I think did a pretty good job of it too). ua-cam.com/video/yLWJC6M9l3w/v-deo.html
Inte alls. Den här sången är minst 10 år efter musikalen. Den är släppt för en skiva med Benny Anderssons orkester och har inget med Kristina från Duvemåla att göra
I have this cd for several years and purchased it specifically because it's Benny of ABBA, which obviously I've loved since I was 11 years old. This entire solo album by Benny is excellent....but seriously...when I first heard this song I said to myself this is absolutely an ABBA song...and could have been a huge hit single for ABBA clear out of the blue. I could absolutely envision Agnetha on lead. And in my mind I was really wishing it was ABBA...and I even thought it should have been re-recorded and saved for the Voyage album. But then I felt that really wouldn't have been right or fair to the singer that recorded the song for Benny's album. I cannot pronounce her name, and I'm not too familiar with her... and she's fantastic. She did such a beautiful job on this song....and it's really just perfect and gorgeous exactly as it is. And it really wouldn't have been right to take it away from her (so to speak) and have it be redone with Agnetha. It's a stunningly beautiful pop song with a lot of class. And the music...the production...the arrangement...all those rich and beautiful sounds and instruments...well, you know, that's definitely Benny's style. And I'm so very happy Benny and Bjorn continued making beautiful music even after ABBA initially retired. The album is really a very unique mix of sounds. "Story Of A Heart" would have definitely been the hit single....at least in Europe, where people have a little more class and better taste than here in the states (California) where I'm from and live. And I purchase this cd just about 4 or 5 years ago just on a whim....not ever having heard it or anything about it ever. I bought it because I was very curious to hear Benny's "solo" songs, and for sure it was right on the money! So, ABBA, or not, this song deserves attention and should absolutely be heard by everyone, especially all true ABBA fans. The singer is excellent and now I will look her up and give a listen to more of her songs. This album by Benny Andersson and his band is also titled "Story Of A Heart" and is dated as having come out in 2009! Amazed as hell how long it took me to discover it!!
Helen is such a beautiful singer especially live I’m so proud of this song from BOA it’s for me the best ABBA sounding ❤❤❤❤ Amazing 😻 Ps The Swedish version is also so beautiful 🤩
I really really love this song!! It´s on the only BAO album I could get here in my country, Argentina, many years ago. Thanks for the reaction, David!!
I'm so glad you reacted to this. I've loved this song for years. Steps did a cover version of this a few years back which was also very good. I would love to hear Abba singing this! This is a slightly different version to the one I usually listen to though.
I love it when you react to singers and bands we dont normally hear on your channel, GivenToe. In this case its an Abba-like song from Benny. It sounds good, but i immediately miss the double voice of Abba which would make the song better. The woman sings good but not as good as Agnetha and Frida togetherrrrrr, and could anyone? Dont think so, Abbaman. Nevertheless i liked it, thanks for your video.🎉
Hi David. So pleased you reacted to this. One of my all time favourite songs, and such a rich joyous song, enchanting music and superb powerful vocals - 😊 oh did I say I love this song. Thank you 😊
The voice is really very beautiful. As for the music - what else could it be if it is composed by BA.. All his tricks and hooks are here, touching and catching. I hate to say it but I'm impressed! 😁👏👏👏
I suppose you would call BAO music "Schlager". If so it is BENNY's schlager - often with Björn's lyrics. There are several gems in the concerts especially from Helen Sjöholm and Tommy Körberg. If people like ABBA they should definitely give BAO a listen. His instrumental music also has Benny's catchiness.
Love that, I need to investigate Benny's band more. Some passages in this reminded me of some tracks from the Lloyd-Webber/Black musical Tell Me On A Sunday. Great following your facial expressions as a track develops. Great stuff.
Hi GivenToe, Since you are Swedish, I highly recommend that you listen to the Swedish live version of this song (Sommaren du fick) from the summer of 2011 (now with about 817,000 views on UA-cam; I am sure you can find the right version) with Helen and BAO (of course with Benny, Calle Moréaus and all the other great musicians) in a very tight version and with people dancing to it in the audience (Swedish Folkpark style). In the Swedish version, the lyrics really highlight Björn Ulvaeus' wordsmith masterclass and the classic ABBA thing of having happy music with some more dark content. You do not necessarily have to put your reaction up here on UA-cam but I think you at least should listen to that version for your own pleasure.
Hello David, unmistakably Abbaesque...Helene has a bueatiful voice and l could hear faint echoes of Abba songs within this composition as well. I could easily hear Agnetha singing this...And yes, l agree! A musical vibe to it. But, then again, no surprise! Loved it! Mmmmm...🤔 A Tommyfied version? That would be awesome! The guitar solo would be amazing! Thankyou David! Ciao bello! Take care ok? 🤗❤🦋
Abbaesque indeed! Really beautiful 😍🙏🏻 I could totally hear that aswell. If Tommy did this, it would be friggin epic 🔥 Ciao bella! Take care Eleonora ❤️
Helen is a jewel of an artist, I noticed youve never heard of her before, she worked in Kristina musical by Benny & Björn , and there's a song I believe u must listen to one day. I think you`ll have no regrets - ua-cam.com/video/a2idVI73ais/v-deo.html - Du måste finnas [ this is the best version IMO ] .. maybe you`ve heard it before. Thie piece of music sounds like a gift from heaven, and is something Tommy could cover SO WELL - I really hope he will do! - There's an english version too [ You Have To Be There - ua-cam.com/video/61ZIsdrlxnY/v-deo.html ], but there's no way, swedish version is sooooooooooooooooo deep and genuine with deep powerful vocals filled with emotions of anger, despair and hope.
You often say the same things as I'm thinking about a song, GT. When it started, I was also thinking it sounds like it could be from a musical, so I entirely get what you mean by cinematic. Thanks for another great reaction. 👊
That was very nice, like you said still some of the abba in there. If it is just the style of music, but he does. way back in the 80s before you could find out information with a finger tip. I kept waiting for the next album and I heard one night in Bangkok knew it was Benny and Bjorn in there. They just do great music. Thanks for the play in reactions.
I heard the Swedish version first, which I prefer as the lyrics seem less clumsy. And I don't understand the Swedish. Plus, the background choir gives me chills toward the end on the Swedish version, and I don't get that with the English translation.
There is also a Swedish version of this song, entitled "Sommaren du fick", which sounds a bit more interesting, though English version is great too. Thank you for reacting not only to ABBA, but also to their side- and post-ABBA projects, what is no less interesting, than all they created as a group.
English version (with input from Tommy Körberg) is 65 minutes into "Benny Anderssons Orkester - Sofiero Castle, Helsingborg - July 26 2019". I think the sound, while good, is better on the Swedish version.
Great song and great voice but would've been 100 times better if Frida and Agnetha sang it! Love how you pronounce Sjöholm which is difficult for us Anglo Saxons!😂😂😂
You haven’t heard Helen!!!!, .. lived under a rock??? .. know Tommy not her ? .. ok to be fair I loved music theater long way back … until Tommy turned me into a metal head🤣 .. might Helen do the same in reverse?😉 it helps she is a bit ABBA too she IS Kristina from Duvemåla
