Ah, another confluence of hobbies! I have this on my keychain still and used it today to find house numbers for deliveries in the dark. USB C, pass through charging, cool screen w/ practical info, good step sizing between powers, and useful floody beam are all working in its favor.
The downsides are minor with one possible exception. The finish hasn't held up amazingly, but that's no biggie for me. The main issue folks may have is the button controls. If this is your primary light, once you've set it up how you like and with a little practice, you'll navigate with ease. If you use other lights primarily, you'll pick this up and have to Google its functions half the time because they are unlike a lot of other lights. I have it in demo mode with zero lock out so I never have to do that anymore lol. Yeah it gets turned on in my bag sometimes, but it's on a lower setting and isn't noticeable in terms of practical battery life.
I also own the GITD Tiki and the GITD Rovyvon A5x and I'd probably rank the Tini 2nd to the Tiki but above the a5x. The a5x and Tiki are very similar, but I find the Tiki more practical of the two.

If anyone doubts the water resistant claim, my Tini 2 went in the washing machine. Some of the black paint wore off the corners but it didn’t leak and works perfectly.

Love that you are looking into Nitecore stuff. I have the Nitecore TIKI GITD in my EDC pouch. It is tiny (12 g / 0.42 oz) but still packs a punch at 300 lumens at its brightest setting.

Good review. What I like is that the TINI and TINI 2 is that they output the rated amount of light for the full amount of time in the specification. Many keychain lights on high only output the rated amount for a minute or two and then drop down to one-half or one-third of the rating for the duration. For the TINIs the average output is the same as the rated output.

Just ordered myself the Tini 2 for the form factor alone and the power of it what I've seen and heard in videos it's quite a powerhouse for the size and ordered an Olight Seeker 3 Pro as a more powerful backup.
Really good production quality and very clear review.

I personally prefer the ergonomics of Nitecore's Tiki (which I have used the GITD model for at least a year) and the Rovyvon aurora models (the originator of that flashlight style). They only have micro usb charging at the moment (although Rovyvon mentioned they will have usb c coming in the future). Even though the Tiki is the lower powered budget pick, it's a bit better in the waterproofing department.

USB micro charging is so dated I have given up buying anything unless it's got a c port for charging. Put me off so many lights.

    Mine was junk.
Wouldn't charge unless cable was moved around and finally made connection. This was with 3 different cords.
Once charged it would not turn on until it was plugged in again and then quickly unplugged.

I never have a regular flashlight for EDC (figure my phone is good enough for most emergencies), but I have been using the Nitecore NU25 Headlamp for camping/outdoor stuff for the past two years and I've really been impressed with the quality. This TINI 2 light looks pretty slick!

Good night ! The display of my Tini2 doesn,t turn on anymore. Do you know if it is a defect or configuration problem ? (it should turn on when pressing the mode key). Thanks !

Any reviews for headlamps coming up, perhaps with something similar as a display with remaining battery life? I like headmlamps as they can be packed with you for travel also and have that extra utility to keep your hands free.

Great video! I edc an Olight S1R II, bloody great edc torch. I, at one point did edc an early model of the Tiny or whatever it’s called but I wasn’t a fan of the duel buttons or the lack of a pocket clip.

That lock took me quite some time to figure as I lost the directions. Maybe the lock modes are a bit much but other wise a great light.!!

I have this but I wish the hold mode puts out 65 instead of 500. I have contacted Nitecore to find out if i can change that. I don't need 500 and it's rare to ever need that for me.

Screen cover is just a thin piece of cheap plastic. LOVED this light... bought 3 versions. Always wore clipped to belt loop...
But decided to put one of keychain. And that Very First time on keychain.... screen was cracked!!
Thought a fluke, so put my black one on keychain... and yet again.. On keychain in pocket... another cracked screen!!
So disappointing.. build quality almost perfect but covering its most unique/coolest feature (the OLED display) is just a thin piece of plastic.
Has this major weakness been upgraded on the SS & Ti versions??
(Unfortunately I think it has not)

Do you think if it had a few layers of cellphone protector screen stuck onto the oled screen it would protect the oled screen better?

I just keep mine clipped to my pants belt loop. It has gotten some light scratches on the case, but the display really hasn't.

Is it easy to remember how to use the buttons for all the modes? I think I'd forget how to get to each mode. My EDC now includes the RovyVon A5. It's keychain size, the side light make a decent omnidirectional lamp, and the red side light saves night vision. Have you tried Luminaid? Is that too big for travel? I have a small one I was thinking of taking on my next trip. Solar rechargeable, omnidirectional light, waterproof, and able to charge a phone or other small electronics.

    • @PackHacker2
      @PackHacker2  2 роки тому +1

The button memorization takes some getting used to, but it was simple to remember once I did it a couple of times. We haven't considered Luminaid for travel, but we'll check it out!
