Lamb curry made with round bone chops is my favorite curry. Rich with a tomato and onion gravy that’s been cooked down until it’s really thick. And butter chicken!
This looks delicious 😋 You're not the only one freaked out by releasing the pressure on your Instant Pot. I use a wooden spoon when I release the pressure on mine and, to this day, I still almost hit the ceiling in the kitchen every time 😂
I love this updated recipe with more ingredients that you said you didn't have in the original video. I've watched that one so many times and it's always a family favorite when I make it. ❤
Oh Do is Malaysian Chinese? Malaysia has good food. And also very good at currys like masaman and the rendangs. I can't wait to try this when I get back to SF.
I always thought of Rendang as more of a stew than a curry. I don't know why, it's basically the same I guess.🙂 I know Rendang as an Indonesian dish (from Sumatra I believe) and I love it! Of course Malaysia is just a few miles away 🙂
Hello beautiful Flo it's good to see your video again . My Son's favorite dish is curry anything about indian food he is crazy about it.. Thank you for sharing ❤God bless you always and your family ❤
Rendang, Indonesia is voted the world's best food (CNN). Of course Malaysia and Indonesia share a lot of similar cuisines and I believe both taste quite similar and super delicious. ❤ Thank you for making this recipe, will try it soon!
Thank you for sharing this! I love beef rendang. Usually, I have it at restaurants, but I did make it at home once using that same Teams Gourmet paste. I started on stovetop and then transferred to my slow cooker. It was very spicy, in fact, a little too spicy! 😂 I used regular beef stew meat. Your method of removing the chili oil is a great idea - something I hadn't thought of. I have beef short ribs in the freezer plus I recently bought my first electric pressure cooker - will definitely make it again using your recipe.
This dish sounds so good. I haven't found kaffir leaves in our area. I see them on line & really want to try them. I still giggle when the instant pot makes you jump. I will look for the curry you bought. Wish they sold finger meat in our local stores. Will look next time I'm in one of the Asian markets.
Beef finger meat is the meat from between the ribs, so basically the trimmings from a tomahawk steak, or from the removed bones from a rib roast (bone-in ribeye roast, bone-in prime rib).
Thanks for the updated version. I've tried to add potato's / carrots to the curry, any recommendations ? Additionally the paste that i have come across is a different brand; are you partial to the current paste you have vs other brands ?
Thanks for the great video sharing how to cook Rendang in a pressure cooker. I’m watching from the home of Rendang in Malaysia. Just a question, did you use dessicated coconut? I can get kerisik here but I’m wondering if dessicated coconut can be used as a replacement? Thanks.
Your like one of the few youtuber chefs ive seen use these Malaysian curry pastes packages. everyone else uses home made and ive been searching for years for a recipe like this that uses those malaysian brand pastes. It freakin used to irritate me 😂 because i couldnt find every ingredient on the list in regards to making the curry paste like for example candle nut. Even i live next to a few asian markets in my area dont even know what candle nut is. Used to make me sad 😢. But im happy i found your recipe i will try making it soon. Maybe fpe the holiday's 😊.
Right?! I remember trying to find candlenuts way back when I was making the pastes from scratch too and they were SO hard to find. A good sub is macadamia nut. But premade pastes are way better! Enjoy!
Good morning Flo and Dude I enjoy your videos Can you tell me what can be used instead of coconut milk ? I can have dried coconut but have to stay away from coconut milk .. allergies God bless your family and Channel
From the Netherlands: Rendang is NOT A CURRY! Forget paste and make it with fresh ingredients instead. Your rendang will be much more tasty. You said that you use the lemongrass ONLY for that taste. What else would you use it for? I am sorry but you do not convince!
Sorry, for me, curry is one of those things you eat because it was put before you and out of respect for the cook's efforts you complement their efforts. I don't ever "get hungry for" curry. God bless you folks in your efforts. Although, if given the choice I'll take red curry over green/yellow any day of the week. And, NEVER ruin a good crab with curry.
Aw… that’s so sad! I’m convinced that you haven’t tried a good curry yet. There are so many versions and so different in each culture. There are curries that I am not a fan of either.
This is truly my all time favourite curry! What is yours? Happy weekend! 💕
@@FloLum Great - I found you again. I'll try this curry today!😁 💖 thank you!

Have a great week!
I made this tonight with short ribs. Very delicious. Thanks Flo!
This looks delicious 😋

Malaysian food is so underrated, Thanks for sharing

Love Rendang curry.
The sound of bashing the lemon grass is somehow very therapeutic to me.
Thank you.
Looks soo good. I sure I’ve seen the paste but just didn’t know what it was. Thanks so much for the recipe!

Yes, Dude (not Do) is a Malaysian born Chinese marrying his wife, a Hong Kong born Canadian😊😊
@@natasyajames6928 That is a very interesting mixture.
Love this, eat it every time I go to Malaysia.
That looks delicious! I have always wanted to try Rendang, but the recipes seemed overwhelming. You made it much more doable! Thanks!
Awesome! Hope you’ll give it a try!

Yes, I guess rendang is a kind of stew, not so much of a curry. Curry is like chicken , fish or beef curry. Many examples Out there
Wow!!! I'm starving. This looks soooo delicious 😋 😍
Yummy. This looks delicious. Thank you. PS Releasing the pressure freaks me out too!!

Good morning from Brazil 🇧🇷
I ever watching these beautiful plates.
Here in Australia, we have Ayam brand Rendang paste, and it is brilliant

I do like curries. Have to try it. Thanks.
That looks delicious. I ordered the curry paste. I can never find finger meat here so I’ll have to use short ribs.
Thanks for the updated version. I've tried to add potato's / carrots to the curry, any recommendations ? Additionally the paste that i have come across is a different brand; are you partial to the current paste you have vs other brands ?
There is a clip you can buy to hold your inner pot steady while you are stirring

Absolutely! We don’t have it by that name here. I’m assuming it’s the same as what I’m using.

You want to get your garlic in before the first frost 👍
Hi Flo, I always love watching your videos all the time but questions, can you please cook Cambodian food?
Instead of deglazing with water, can the same amount of beef stock be used in order to preserve the beef flavor?
You definitely could but you really don’t have to. The flavours are so intense that I don’t think you’d be able to tell the difference.
Good morning Flo and Dude
I enjoy your videos
Can you tell me what can be used instead of coconut milk ?
I can have dried coconut but have to stay away from coconut milk .. allergies
God bless your family and Channel
I’m sorry, I’m not sure and don’t want to recommend something that won’t work.
I know you've grown green onions - I'm curious if you've ever tried growing ginger - maybe in pots?
I have not yet but keep wondering if I should try. 🤔
@@FloLum apparently there are specific instructions on how to get them through the cold dormant season. It sounds interesting tho
Flo, or anyone, do you repurpose/save the skimmed spicy fat for other dishes? TIA
No, I don’t but I suppose one could. 🤔
Hello it's me Sonny I am back from the Orient and I've tasted a lot of good food but I'm so happy to be back cooking with you so let's do it baby😊😅😂
Some chunky peeled russet Idaho potatoes in that would take it over the top!
What about lapis daging ?
Ummmmm Comfort food indeed.
Where have you been? I missed you!
She posted a week ago? Lol
Can this be made with chicken
Sure can! This Chicken Curry is my EASIEST - Chicken Rendang

@FloLum Thanks Flo
The *best* curry is Tim Curry 😂
😆
I don’t like coconut so I would not add it
I added water but it kept burning in the instant pot…
