      Thank you very much...I really appreciate it. Currently stuck with the project because I'm waiting for parts, but everything will be up here from start to the finish 😉👍

    Awesome video as always!!! So you don't have to remove the ignition coil wires or both spark plugs if you put spark plug in boot? Thanks!!!

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser  3 роки тому +1

      Hi. Yes basically just pull the caps off the spark plugs, and put spare plugs in them, then remove the one you checking, measure the compression, put the spark plug back in, move to the next cylinder, measure and when you all done just put the caps back on both...easy👍

    On mine a 535 '93 I have 7 BARS on both cilindree. Did I have some problems on my virago ?

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser  2 роки тому +1

      Hello, yes possible, however that is so low I think your bike would feel like a 125cc, power wise. I'd check it with an other tester, or take it to a shop for a compression test, usually thier gauges are calibrated. If still only 7 Bar then you need to check your camshaft timing first ua-cam.com/video/BuJSmgDWDZA/v-deo.html
      If the timing is correct then you will have to dig deeper, do a leak down test to see if any valves aren't seating correctly etc...then you'll know what to do, might have to take the head off and refurbish it, also check ring gaps to see if there is a wear there or not...Hope this helps
      Lastly make sure you fully open the throttle while cranking the bike because it will affect the results, Important

    Just performed the test on mine. And got just 9 bar on both cilinder. Can I keep running with that? Thanks for the great video, as always

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser  3 роки тому

      Hi, yes petrol engines can run on low compression without a problem, just going to be weaker, however I would check the timing and the valve clearances to make sure they're fine.
      If they all good, you might have a head gasket problem or just worn piston rings, or just your compression tester is not good, maybe have it tested in a shop with a good quality, calibrated tester....quickly these come into my mind...hope it helps😉

      @@MidlandCruiser thanks for the detailed reply. I will try to check the points you mentioned. Maybe my tester is actualy bad, tested my 1100 just now, and it's also in the same range of values.

    Another awesome vidéo!👍😎
    I have a question, How do I check if my spark plug cap has a resistor or not?
    Thanks!

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser  3 роки тому +3

      Hi, Thank you. The one I have on the bike simply had them written on 5KΩ, so I knew. If there is no indication of resistance then there should be a serial number on it like TD-133 (this is also 5KΩ) or similar and then you can google it to see. If all this fails you can unscrew it from the lead and measure between the 2 ends with a multimeter. 👍

      If I may give a suggestion, it would be super cool to see how to adjust properly the float height.

      I have bought NGK 5kohm caps and BPR7ES. I thought i was correct in getting these 😬
      Should i try BP7ES? Do you think?

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser  3 роки тому +2

      @Mr Man Yes, if you have resistor caps then you'll need BP7ES 100%... that's what I use and have no problems👍

    Hello, do you have the ignition connection diagram of my yamaha virago xv 535 motorcycle? My motorcycle turns on from the ignition switch, but does not turn off. Even if I turn the key off, the motorcycle continues to run. There is an error in the link. Can you help?

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser  3 роки тому +1

      Hello. The problem seems to me will be your ignition switch. They can be taken apart for cleaning, greasing, refurbishing.
      If everything was fine before then always start with the easiest option. Take it off then strip it, clean it, check for burning marks, check it with a multimeter then try again. On the 535 the switch is in a silly place so it tends to get dirt inside. There are many wiring diagram available for this bike throughout the years so not sure which one you need. The best thing to do is to join the Virago 535 group, or the Virago Nation group on Facebook and download the manual for your bike from the files section and then you'll have all the info you need. I hope this helps...all the best👍

      Hello, I couldn't find anywhere as well. None of the normal sites showed xv400 in the list. I asked my virago guru contact, and according to him it doesn'texist anymore, if you lucky you might find a new old stock somewhere but, it is as rare as a white Zorro😁 here is the part number, you might get lucky 2NT-11181-00
      Sorry and good luck...you'll need it.
