Zack, In this time frame the Sequoia was also available with a 1UR-FE 4.6 V8. In terms of truly unique features, the Sequoia has a 4WD system not seen on any other product I know. It has a Torsen center differential like a 4Runner Limited, Lexus GX, LX or Land Cruiser but it also has the option to run in RWD which the others don't.
That engine is rare in Toyota trucks and SUVs except the Lexus GX460 where it was the only engine offered. Even the 4.7 was pretty rare in 2nd generation models.
These weren't huge sellers but Toyota seems to know what their buyers wanted by keeping most of their body-on-frame SUVs in production nearly unchanged for so long. I always wondered if these would have been more popular if they weren't so round.
So funny that you put this up today. Im in the market for a sequoia and watch your reviews regularly. I think with the way the market is, this is one of those vehicles that still offers some great value for the money. Looking at a first gen though.
You do a great job with your channel. You are in a very different league, but Jay Leno is the only car guy I like as much as you. The Model A video is my favorite. The fact you drive a model A as a normal car has increased my respect. Especially as young as you are. Your videos are a great length. Satisfying but brief. The fact you can appreciate rusted out beaters and give both an informative and emotional evaluation of the cars with a sense of the cars purpose and historical Era is great. Keep rocking it, kid
Wow, RAV4 is a subcompact, like a girl drives to university! I know Americans are bigger, but not that much... a big burly tradesman or a large family need the choice for a large car or truck. You can't discriminate against genetic height or shoulder width... I've been in cars where the door bounced off my shoulder or the seat didn't go back enough to safely/comfortably use the pedals. The Sequoia is very average sized. Ironically, one of most space efficient cars I've driven was a mini Cooper... but just me alone. Two guys, and your shoulders are gonna touch, especially in heavy coats dictated by our winters. But for a family? No way. Even small children won't have room for legs, car seats, supplies with the seat slid back where I need it. With electric cars solving the mpg issues, and USA making large sporty EV vehicle like Charger, Telsa and Lightning, why are they forcing average sized Brits to cram into cars only comfortable for hobbits?
@@Jack_Staffordthe RAV4 isn't a subcompact crossover, it's a compact. They make the CH-R, Corolla Cross and Yaris Cross which are all smaller than the RAV4.
7:41 Sadly the current Sienna is very underpowered. It really needs the T24A-FTS to be somewhat stout instead of the anemic hybrid which is overwhelmed by a damn incline. It's so so dumb its hybrid-only.
Just purchased one. Whats the long compartment that has the cover on it next to the middle cupholders and shifter? Cant figure out what its supposed to be used for.
SUV are More style than Minivan and Station Wagons. SUV is best Choice with off-road of towing 4wd is way to go. I love a truck with big engine of more room for passengers of cargo all In one
Yea but SUVs like these are way more than what people need. Most people should buy vans or station wagons as they are cheaper and better off on gas. Plus most people do not need the towing capabilities or 4wd and a van or wagon suits their needs just fine. Also wagons and vans have some decent awd systems that do fine in any weather.
The Sequoia is a beast... the SR5 is usually the best value in the Toyota line-up.

What type of system does the 4runner sr5 have? Haldex?
@@LibertyGunsBeerTrump I think what he meant was that the Sequoia has BOTH the center diff and the 2/4hi/4low switch, rather than one or the other.
@@LibertyGunsBeerTrumpno Toyota came with haldex as it’s a vw AWD system.
The 4 Runner can also run in RWD as well. Just not in the top Limited trim.

Zack setting the temp for all the different zones to 69, love that attention to detail lol
come on...
He knows what he's doing 😂😂😂
Man that aftermarket infotainment screen fits in like an absolute glove
I have the 10.1 joying in my 2012 platinum and I love it
i have 08 sequoia sr5 4x4, soon it will reach a million miles, try that with chevy suburban
they will go a million miles too. Just with a couple of engines and transmissions lmaoo
A suburban without AFM will do it
To be homeless in that thing would be pretty cool not gonna lie
Lol and steal gas ⛽️ 13 mpg
Are you homeless bro
That's the dream
U forgot about the roll down back window on this
OH SNAP

Yeah i wish some more time behind the wheel
Such a nice truck. I’m one of the few ppl that like the looks
It has a strong tanky vibe to me lol
Amazing SUV that can outlast 2 or 3 Escalades. And it's such a sensible car to live with for 10+ years.
The escalades of that era without the active fuel management were pretty damn reliable
@@samuelsabo9493 If there's anything that can last, it's a big unstressed V8 without cylinder deactivation.
Love the infotainment!
I just put an apple CarPlay unit in my Corolla . Drastically updates the car . ❤❤❤
I have a 2008 Sequoia Limited. It's the greatest vehicle I've ever had.
How many miles now?
@@Unplugged704 196500 miles.
Share the link for the aftermarket radio!! Thanks
This is HUGE! Also another suv we don’t get in the UK (nothing larger than RAV4 sold here currently)
There's the Highlander.

I feel like your "voice" as a reviewer comes through well in this one :)
Very helpful review to compare to newer models that cost as much as an RV.

These things are still selling for no less than 10k for 2008+ years
Think of this as a larger 2008 Highlander (it looks like one from the front) and "Macaroni styling" might just work.
A sequoia is a giant redwood
My dog begs to differ.

The tundra literally withstood a California fire and pulled people out of that fire. I'd say this can do the same
the land cruiser of this time period also had a 5.7

Better check the frame if you are looking at/for one. They rot out.
That goes for absolutely any vehicle.
@@spiralnapkin but WAY more for a Toyota truck made during this time period. By far.

No it runs perfectly fine on 87 octane fuel.
For once a vehicle with gas in it
