- Jeremy visited Manchester to give a speech at the Peterloo rally which commemorates the Peterloo massacre. Afterwards he caught up with Maxine Peake which we recorded for the Peace and Justice Project.

Listening to Maxine Peake in conversation about working class Salford was an experience. I love the accent ❤
We lost an incredible opportunity, an artistic, spiritual and empathetic approach to government when the media hoodwinked so many people to vote for Johnson ahead of Corbyn. As a musician I mourn the loss of such a sensitive and gentle man as our prospective Prime Minister.
BUT. It's not what the proles like or want. They like a show man. The policies mean very little b/c in the main thy are not thinkers, they are reactionary. A bloc who always vote Labour, ditto Tories and 25 % who are swing voters and king makers. Then there's 20-25% like me who never vote as In a FPTP system ir's irrational or maybe they've realised whoever is in power nothing much changes.

I love how Maxine declared herself straight away as someone from Salford and not Mancunian, it immediately reminded me of my partner (he sadly passed away during Christmas 2021 with heart failure) and he was a staunch 'Salfordite' that would immediately correct anyone that thought him Mancunian, he was Salford born and raised and loved that city like one would love the motherland. This has brought a smile because I can relate, no one would dare to label him from Manchester :) Were he watching this with me he would be laughing his ass off and saying "see! SEE!" God I miss him.

Best Prime Minister the country ever had the opportunity to have. A true hero and role model for anyone who thinks politics can be a force for good and positive change in the world. I will never stop loving Jezza, and I adore Maxine as well (VERONICA).

Corbyn would have been a failure as PM. He couldn't even unite the party on a Brexit policy that would keep the Labour base intact, how would he have united the party behind his agenda?
There is a wonderful young musician singer songwriter who tries to speak out for the working-class and the state of the NHS , particularly because of the absolute hell he has been through after suffering from undiagnosed Lyme disease. he has written some extremely powerful pieces one being called. Hi Ren, which is his name. It came out in December 2022 and just went crazy on UA-cam gaining millions of views by the end of January. he isn't signed with any label and all his videos are produced on an absolute shoestring. Ren is such a wonderful caring person even with all that he has been through and still is to some degree. he certainly would be a great one to interview from a mental health perspective, the lack of research into autoimmune disease and also struggling young artists. Prior to his solo debut he was in a band called The Big Push who use to busk in Brighton where they all lived, all of them are super super talented.
Hi Ren has been nominated for some art award in France I believe.

@@babymonalisa perhaps it says in my judgement we desperately need some new ideas and perspectives rather than endlessly rehashing the same arguments from equally left and right wing proven failed political perspectives. Is it really beyond us to conceive new ideas or envisage a system that encourages individuals to reach thier own conclusions rather than simply signing up to this club or that.

Two of my favouriet people but I cannot agree with optimism for the future. For young people to be given a chance to utilise that intelligence of which Maxine speaks, they need to have something to vote for and they haven't. Do they want Blue Tory or Red Tory? Is a complete waste of time.

People are individuals and flawed in many ways and that is a good indicator as to why there's poverty right now.

You may want to look at sociology and psychology before you look at simple economics and you'll find the answers that seem to have been elusive to you thus far.

Jeremy Corbyn gave a very cogent talk on the Pros and Cons of leaving the European Union a few weeks before the Vote. It was made for one of the major TV channels but, unfortunately, the channel chose not to broadcast this very thoughtful talk and only broadcast snippets. It was the best reasoning I heard during the debate leading up to Brexit. It was a pity that only people who looked on UA-cam got to hear it.
This is such bullshit. He was one of the only people not just barking at the other side. Nuanced opinion. Information. Concerns. Things to consider. Details. YOUR problem is that his approach didn't confirm 100% to YOUR outlook. We got Brexit because the working class was abandoned by both main political parties for 40 years and no-one considered them worthy of being part of the political conversation. A conversation with room for a wide range of voices and perspectives.

This guy never amounted to anything in all his years in parliament. Was largely regarded as a joke to be ignored by previous labour leaders. He agrees with all strikers irrespective of their cause. Thank god the country had him weighed up by 2020. He can now concentrate on what he likes most and return to the picket lines.

He was considered a joke for the vast majority of this time, and I strongly suspect he didn't enjoy his time as leader. It's a lot easier to complain from the sidelines. His current role of playing a persecuted christ like figure who is holier than thou is exactly where he wants to be

Jeremy is one of the most approachable politicians and much more in touch with ordinary working people than most Westminster so your echo chamber notion is daft. The Labour Party under Corbyn was much more of a broad church than the current one. The reason he was disliked had nothing to do with him being in an echo chamber, but because most people unfortunately have thier opinions spoon-fed to them by the echo chamber of Rupert Murdoch and his ilk.
