I got to witness this live as I was in the audience that night. So lucky. Would love if they did a proper recorded version on this collab that I could listen to on Spotify
Whatever arrangements given to this song, it never loses the golden dust, glittering through the veils of the ''saintly dusk'' hopelessness it suggests. Imelda does get ''inside the story'' and delivers on an intense duet.
I agree. His voice is so beautiful that I want to hear it on its own. I absolutely love the tone of his voice, absolutely beautiful, and he's so passionate and expressive. Masterful singer!
I enjoyed this version. Also Marc’s recent rendition at the O2 as part of Soft Cell with 24,000 backing singers. It’s a great song and like any great song can be interpreted in many different ways. By the way I can confirm that Marc has still got it!!
This is great - in gthe context that it's not as if they do this very often - and it's live. Imelda grows into it as the song goes. Her vocal builds and builds to really complement and match Marc's. Professionals at work here.
I got so excited recently when I saw him on tour with Jules Holland in Aberystwyth...I just love his voice...and this song is so deliciously cruel...you have to laugh...
Have to admit that I can take or leave most of Soft Cell, but have always loved this song - and this duet version is absolutely superb. Wonder how long they worked on the parts and arrangement before they realised it was going to catch fire like this?
I actually realised in this very good duet how flawless Marc Almonds perfect pitch is to compared with a lot of accomplished vocalist. He nails it completely and Emelda lets out a few harmonic failures.
You are not kidding. She nails her Gwen Stefani delivery. However, she is trying to sing the lead rather than the harmony. Her hard work in the karaoke bar does not qualify her to sing with a legend. However, we all know the Irish do not have a lot to look at so they are clearly more forgiving with this shite. Reminds me of the Tadolf Switler duet car wreck with Stevie Nicks.
Orig Beater1...."However, we all know the Irish do not have a lot to look at"...fair enough, don't like something, but racism is never acceptable in any context.
It is not often a solo song can be turned into a duet but this works well. Their voices harmonise well. It would be even better if there was a chemistry between them like with Kirsty MacColl and Shane MacGowan in Fairy Tale Of New York. To me it seems to be missing, not faulting the performance as a whole as it is a bloody good one and both are great singers. I would have bought it on 7" if this was the original release.
Imelda dies what few can, this version is sublime, one of the greatest songs ever turned into a pithy fight. Just glorious.
This is so utterly magnificent!
The duet gives a whole new slant on this classic. Great stuff!
What a beautiful duet. Marc is ecstatic at the end. So cool to see true joy!
She does an excellent job. Not easy when you´re with a legend.
give over shes the Legend ,Mark was always a second rate singer who happened to write good songs
@@guitarmuso1 very true Simon, Emelda is underrated , she has done the hard yards gigging wise ,
Does a good job until the chorus
Wow Marc's voice is still amazing, I was around for the original, still Love it now 🤩🤩 Great duet with Imelda too 🤩💘

Erm sweetie it was recorded or it would not be viewable to us on YT.

My favorite song ever... And what a duo!!!
What a priviledge to duet this ballad with the main man. A consumate professional. The best version since the first.
Marc Almond’s still got it.
Two beautiful people singing a beautiful song
Was at the recording of this show, was a pleasure to be there. Lovely performance.
Still prefer him solo, he's still got the voice! This none of my favorite songs of all time! Love Marc almond!
I agree. His voice is so beautiful that I want to hear it on its own. I absolutely love the tone of his voice, absolutely beautiful, and he's so passionate and expressive. Masterful singer!
Just stumbled across this. WOW Amazing, this song is from my youth, and Imelda has a beautiful voice
They make a lovely duet! Marc Almond's looks or voice haven't changed.
+criochnaithe His looks have changed. He's had copious amounts of surgery & dermal fillers.
He's amazing 🤩🤩
Fantastic performace. Thank You.
Loved it great man great song sung beautifully as a duet one of my favourite songs the
lyrics are so quirky great to sing along to as I often do.
What a fantastic version! Their voices sound great together.
Agreed. Works very well. Love it

great version lot of feeling in this live version BRILLIANT both Imelda and Mark !!!!!
I loved the original and this is a good twist and just a bit of fun. Great duet.
Enjoyed this a lot. She sings the fuck out of it. He's still got it too. But her range....is amazing.
This is great - in gthe context that it's not as if they do this very often - and it's live. Imelda grows into it as the song goes. Her vocal builds and builds to really complement and match Marc's. Professionals at work here.
Great, just love to hear Marc sing.
the woman is perfect,Marc still brilliant..
Gave me goosebumps listening to this. Quality 🙂
Marc Almond always wonderful. OMG.
This version should be released. I think it could be a big hit again
Hey this was a perfect combo, the Irish lass teamed up very well with Marc so well. Great credit to both of them. :)

His voice is still perfect.
Imelda is hot and awesome, great voice. Favourite Soft Cell song
what a nice duet. I love them both!
91' is my fav version but this one is fun. I like it too! ;) Cheers Marc, love from lil greece!
I got so excited recently when I saw him on tour with Jules Holland in Aberystwyth...I just love his voice...and this song is so deliciously cruel...you have to laugh...
As Marc himself said at the end, 'that was mega.'
Agreed. A classic in original form.
Whatta song! Whatta MAN! and Lady!
Love this duet of Imelda May with Marc Almond. Bring on July in Liverpool, Bill Somers, Noreen O'Malley, Maria O'Malley and Aidan O'Malley
Fabulous just fabulous
Fantastic!
His voice is still so great
One of the best
When Imelda says ok off mic it's wonderful x
Brilliant!
This is musical theatre!
Fabulous ❤❤❤❤❤
One of the greatest songs of all time. Original was as some.
Fantastic version
Have to admit that I can take or leave most of Soft Cell, but have always loved this song - and this duet version is absolutely superb. Wonder how long they worked on the parts and arrangement before they realised it was going to catch fire like this?
Better than the 80's original 💜
Awesome!
Prefer this version to the original one. They are having a good time together. :-)
Never seen her before, she's fire...
A great musical marriage!
I love this..
I have tears in my eyes
love this
He’s so cabaret. It’s brilliant
Sorry just love it when Marc sings his bit alone
+Shaun Keen No need to be sorry Imelda ruined the song
I actually realised in this very good duet how flawless Marc Almonds perfect pitch is to compared with a lot of accomplished vocalist. He nails it completely and Emelda lets out a few harmonic failures.
I love Marc Almond, but I thought the harmonies were off.
Duets do not have to harmonise. The most important thing is if they pull off the opposite sides of a situation.
She's a Irish singer, the TV show is from Ireland.
+niall mc carthy Yes we know that and she ruined the Bleedin Song
You are not kidding. She nails her Gwen Stefani delivery. However, she is trying to sing the lead rather than the harmony. Her hard work in the karaoke bar does not qualify her to sing with a legend. Marc Almond is Marc Almond. Forget the duet. Withdraw the karaoke comment. Imelda May is an ace ORIGINAL. Check out her albums 'Mayhem' and 'Tribal'.
Orig Beater1...."However, we all know the Irish do not have a lot to look at"...fair enough, don't like something, but racism is never acceptable in any context.
@@mc17stratSays mc prick 😂
Love this version, there's venom spitting between both of them that isn't in the original.
Tension not venom
WOW! Very nice!
Just brilliant

Bit of a purist here....Love the original. However, the venom in this version is just delightful hahaha
OMG I want her hair so badly...and Im a guy. Stunning.
One of the worlds greatest homosexuals.long live marc

What key did she start in? Well out!
this version should have been a single - they missed a hit there
Prefer the seedy Soft Cell original.
Great great great.....
Of course it's not going to be as good as the original but they did a great job.marc seems like a great guy
Great
👏👏👏👏
I think Imelda was very good versitle if nothing else, as for mark wat a voice.😉
She is a much more powerful singer. She puts Mark in the shade.
