With combat boots on, fatigues and a steel pot, marching along with an M-14 strapped over my shoulder , this would have been the best marching song ever.......back in the day.....plus it had to be raining cats and dogs in Ft. Lewis, Washington. 1966. Our drill instructors we awesome. We could march for hours and miles on end, singing the cadence they provided, to get our minds off our feet. I would do it again, and again, and again, and........
Superb! I really like the beginning which reminds me a little bit of the bagpipes. I play the Amazing Grace in the same way. Bravo and thank you ! Greetings from France 🙂
No offence dude, but that's all wrong. It's ok and all and good doing your own version, but sounds all wrong. Are you starting on a f or something? The song starts on a c. 2nd part is wrong also. I have the proper sheet music etc if you'd like. I'm in Scottish, learned this at 8 years old. Also not sure what you mean by unofficial hyme either. Anyways decent playing, just in wrong key etc.
Hello there. I´m playing in G so i´ve started on a G bass key simulating a Bagpipe drone. Your ear heard atone below haha. Anyway it´s a old video so i´ve learned a lot more but it´s not really "all wrong"
@@GustavoToscandasilva yeah, its not a hymn. It has no religious application whatsoever and never used in churches or Chappel. Glad to hear youv progressed further. Personally I don't hear a bagpipe replication, I just hear some bass notes being held lol. Also my ear didn't hear a f, I didn't give it that much attention. Finally as for it being wrong, it really is fella, especially the second part. But as Eric Morecambe said "I'm not playing the wrong notes, I'm playing the right notes, just not necessarily in the right order" lol
@@GustavoToscandasilva I wouldn't worry about this troll's opinion. He probably found out that he had 61% Scottish DNA from 23 and me, and now he's all like prancing around in kilts and tossing haggis o'er the glen. He starts out with "No offence", but then does his best to offend.
I'm not trying to offend at all, I'm Scottish and I'm from Glasgow. I've played the accordion since I was 8 years old, I'm 41 now. Just saying it's wrong notes etc, and I have many original sheet music should he wish copies of it etc.
Finally a version that respects this music enough to give it proper treatment. Beautiful musicianship young man! Sorry it took me so long to find it!

Great job! I really liked the beginning when you mimicked bagpipes!

Can you teach us how to play it
Good job! Do you have any sheet music you'd be willing to share?
I do, and it's the correct notes etc, 40+ year old sheet music, all Scottish music from the great Jim Hutchinson music school here in Ayr, Scotland

By unnoficial hymn it´s something i found on the internet, since it´s a patriotic song. Is that wrong?
