Sure, he’s a bit gruff but he’s very accommodating and we had a great time staying there! Don’t expect it to be lavish, but we definitely had everything we needed!
great trip ,been there many times, always huge waves, huge fish, how many rods did you guys break?? cringed time after time when the rod tip is inside the landing net....
All good. Love your video. And I love Nipigon. Its a very specual place. Remember when the word about Lac Seul and its muskie's . Trophy's were caught and not released alot. Hence the basic closure of the muskie fishery. Nipigon is one of the last unspoiled( sort of , hydro dams😮) but its taken great effort to bring that fishery back. Words out, things are much better on the river and lake and the folks are arriving. I seen tv crews , and lots of inexperinced fishermen on the river last season . Lake traffic wasnt too bad, but its a very large lake and remote so you hope to see no one. Its my favorite fishery in Canada. Enjoy and repspect it fella's . ❤
Great job on the video. That boat was perfect for that trip. Fuel is a big part of that trip because your not close to a gas station. How much fuel did you guys go through??
I believe that it is illegal to sell chips for your hummingbird for Lake Nipigon? Some tribal laws I think? Not sure on that. We went with a blank chip that we mapped out ourselves as we fished.
Forgotten??? Have you noticed in the last 10yrs, heck the last 5 yrs the amount of traffic on the lake and river? Every jag off from America and Europe are coming here now. Boats stacking up on the river , its just goofy now. And everyone who fishes there , makes a video, and then all the foreign anglers head up. Ive watched them in the river and wow, dangerous and pretty much some of the dumbest , anglers you would meet on water.
I am sorry that you feel this way.. And that you believe that I am a contributing part of the problem. I have not seen this change you are describing over the last 5-10 years as I am not a resident.. However, I could see why that kind of change would be concerning to you. Our annual trips are an effort escape into nature. We go for the most remote areas we can and Lake Nipigon has been a place that we have wanted to go to for the last 4 or 5 years. Losing the remoteness that makes a place like this special is absolutely concerning. I am sorry that I might be contributing to the problem you are describing.. I just want to share the incredible experiences that I have with the people that I love. Thank you for sharing your feelings with us as well. All love man!
I’ve lived on the lake since 1972-my house is arguably the closest residence to where the world record was caught. Traffic on the lake is less than half of what it was in the early 80’s.
@@karlkahmann4035 had 7 boats behind me on the river last yr. One with a tv crew. On average would see half doz every day. Up at Virgin, 6 + boats, some just waiting . Spent my time at Ogoki and Albany in the 80s , The Nip wasnt well then, so I was told , so , I never spent alot of time on the river. Lived in Dryden, and almost bypassed it totally. Now, my fave spot.
Epic trip! Curious how your stay at onaman was? Had a few conversations with the owner and that was strange to say the least.

Wow! Johnny, thanks for sharing these moments. Amazing 🤩
Glad you enjoyed it!! :D

Oh awesome!! Glad I could give a little insight. Good Luck!

Soooooo much fuel... Checking with my brother who filled up the tank everyday now.
Hey what charts did you have on your hummingbird and did it show you full depth highlights of the lake ?

Can I pick your brain about a few things. I am heading up the end of July for 10 days and have some questions.
What a boring way to fish the best brook trout lake in the world.
