A round of applause for Jack Gleeson, a young actor who really earned his wage, and made this series work. They had to find an actor with dwarfism that could pull off Tyrion (When I heard Peter Dinklage got the role I was over the moon) and they had to find a kid who could make you hate Joffrey on screen as much as you do in print. Someone in casting should have a medal pinned to their chest.
Stated perfectly. To pull off a portrayal of Joff that's as insufferable as he is in the books... Incredible.
Will never forget my Ma jumping up off the sofa and dancing around in a little circle while Joffrey breathed his last - she worked with kids for 20 years and loved loved loved them, but whew... not that one... not that one... 😅💀
Best death scene in cinematic history in my opinion.
That actor (Jack Gleeson) should have gotten all of the awards for his spectacular performance through all of his episodes.
I heard that Jack Gleeson got a lot of hate comments from GOT fans, which is why he didn't want to do more acting for a while because he was the King, everybody hated so much in the series. But Ramsay Bolton is worse than King Joffrey.
@@jamesplunkett8912 I always thought of Ramsay as a grown-up Joffrey with a brain. 😉
@@jamesplunkett8912 Then they're a bunch of idiots who don't know the difference between the actor and his character.
27:53 "Joffrey's been killed 😃"
Lol, this was my face also
26:20 "my son..." Ma'am, he is also your nephew and he deserved it 😂
No, he's her son. Jamie, on the other hand, is where there is a title confusion.
@@campagnollono. Joffrey is her son _and_ her nephew since he's the son of her brother. Same with Jamie. Unless you are suggesting Joffrey is the true King and rightful biological son of Robert Baratheon...
@@campagnollo’Duncle’ is a popular choice for such situations
@@campagnolloso u just gonna ignore the fact that he’s also jamies son?
Which makes him Cerceis Nephew
@@NiKiMa023🤣🤣🤣
I love the back-to-back-to-back weddings of Sansa/Tyrion, Edmure/Roslin, Joffrey/Margaery and how they each shake up the status quo. Also nice to have the Purple Wedding as relief for after the Red Wedding's misery. It's a wild ride in the books as they all happen in the middle of the third book. Also in the books, Jaime trains his left hand with Ser Ilyn Payne (the executioner who took Ned's head) instead of Bronn because he's a mute so can't talk about how Jaime needs training to transfer his skills to his left hand; unfortunately Ilyn Payne's actor was diagnosed with cancer so didn't return after Season 2.
Is Iiyn Payne's actor dead?
@@jamesplunkett8912 Yeah he died a couple years ago
@@lucasdolding6924 At last. Sorry about the actor, the character I never liked. All I ever knew was that I hadn't seen Iiyn Payne since Season 2. I don't think anybody replaced him in the show at all.
@@jamesplunkett8912 Yeah he was never replaced just dropped, the character wouldn’t have been relevant for Seasons 3 and 4 anyway, and they changed Jamie’s story from the books so things didn’t go exactly the same for him to train him.
"Go on Reek, cut his face off"😂😂😂
I think we all thought the same lol.
Joffrey's (long-overdue) death makes Ned Stark's execution and the Red Wedding feel a LITTLE less painful. One of the most-deserved and satisfying ends of any character in the show. Kudos to Jack Gleeson for making us hate the character so much. Brilliant actor.
All bastards of northern lords are given the name Snow.😊
Thanks for letting me know
@SofaandChill every region has a different name for illegitimate children. Like the woman Ellaria with Oberyn has the last name Sand because she is from Dorne.
@SofaandChill Flowers, Hill, Stone, Waters, Pyke, Rivers, Sand, Snow... basically physically describing where you're from.
Note: When Varys says, "Your father has promised to hang the next ***** he finds you with", that's something Tyrion has been telling Shae, in secret. It's a little hint that Varys has been spying on Tyrion, among others. Don't forget Varys is the Master of Whispers.
The Lion & The Rose is one of the happiest episodes of the show!!! 👑 🦁 Lol.
Margaery was feeding him some of the pie just before Joffrey started choking.
But why would she want him dead?
Did Sansa put something in the cup before she gave it back to Tyrion?
So many people who wanted him dead...
@@SofaandChill It would honestly be quicker to make a list of people who _didn't_ want him dead. But then you'd have a piece of blank paper.
Yep, I knew you'd be happy. We all were when we watched this! It really gets good from here on out!
26:43 LOL 😂
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
"This feels a bit ominous". "That's going to come back and haunt him". 😆
"the night is dark and full of people on fire." haha ya do amuse me bro!
form this point forward, the black ring on joffrey's finger (the one that pointed at tyrion) will be seen on his mother's finger.
👀 never knew that. It's a nice touch.
So, at the airport, I dropped my ear buds in my backpack while boarding. So in-flight i couldn't listen, but read closed captions. Loved the reaction, but replaying it at home ear buds in. Can't wait for the heart felt passions cussing
yesssss! oh man, the way I CHEERED the first time I watched this episode
Some people complain about Joffrey's death being "Unsatisfying" or "He should have died in battle", but GoT has never been about giving the viewer what they want or expect. Character's get bumped off suddenly so this is on brand.
People said he should’ve died in battle? He was a coward, you’d have no chance of even getting him into the field.
@@quavondingle3490 Yeah, much better to give him his biggest celebration and then take everything away all at once.
Did you notice "the war 9fvthe 5 kings" who some were riding on? Stannis; the Red Woman, Renly; Loras Tyrell, 😂😂😂
"I don't know what the next big thing is...." said season 4 episode 2😂😂😂😂
One of the few moments of pure fan service in the whole series. No spoilers but there are only a couple others I can think of that rise to this level.
Another mother had to watch her firstborn son dying.
Robb may not have died like that if Joffrey hadn't called for Ned's head. Cersei contributed to raising an absolute monster.
At this point, we need a "That's gonna sting tomorrow" T shirt 😂
Was really excited to see you get to this episode, totally agree it was a shock happening so early in the season! I had read the books before this, and it still snuck up on me :)
I was looking forward to you seeing this one, you didn't disappoint. Think everyone was a bit taken by surprise, everyone wanting him dead just not expecting it on the 2nd episode. It was gratifying especially since he was being such a twat & so awful at the time. You have to give it to Jack, he played this part so well, so many people who are normally sweet & nice all yelling at their TV's wanting a child dead then cheering & wishing he suffered more when he dies.
What a death scene - such a famous Meme now 😂
Ohhhh I was waiting for you to get to this. I am imagining you jumping straight off your sofa!!😂
Not even a Game of Thrones fan but knew about this episode and wanted to see your reaction! Didn't disappoint with the death!
No one deserves what Ramsey is doing to Theon!
Diddlers do
Nobody?... I think Ramsey and Joffrey deserve it....
Theon does.
Joffrey does lmao
The moral conflict watching that child die while his mother looks on😅
On a scale 1 to Geoffrey for bellend, Ramsey is Geoffrey squared.
I remember my husband binge watching the first four seasons, and I was only half-paying attention.... Ned's death didn't shock me, The Red Wedding didn't shock me, but THIS shocked me. Such a great episode.
Mohaha Ahaha Ah Kev I have been waiting for this one after The Red Wedding moment we needed a Epic Win....So We get The Purple Wedding 💜🤣 Aka Joffery Death 🎉 Enjoy the ride My Friend 🔥🐲🤘
I just wanna watch the whole thing with you so good
Well, at first I didn’t think he deserved that much, but then i watched John Wick, and reconsidered 😂
It has been said that a child's death is never a joyous occasion... Unless its Joffrey 🎉
@9:20 I have been waiting for you to get to this episode. You did a good job of paying attention so you caught on that Dion killed the two farm boys, but to everyone else it was supposed to be the bran and Rickon
As a reader, not a shock, but a delight to watch everyone's reactions. Such glorious reactions. The amazing talented young man Jack Gleeson stepped away from acting after this role - rightly, knowing he would be so embedded in everyone's mind as this *CHILD* who was so awful we celebrated his murder. That he was able to imbue Joffrey with all the sadistic psychopathic behaviours he was written with is a testament to Jack's ability. We hated him immediately. We cheered as we watched this *CHILD* get slapped by Tyrion. We were delighted when the direwolf Nymeria mauled him and both of those instances were before we saw the depths the character would go to.
With all the praise the core cast has received for their work on this show, Jack Gleeson is (imo) one who shines just as brightly.
LOL 😂I completely forgot to answer your question!
Does Theon deserve? No. No-one deserves torture. For what Theon did - invade Winterfell, kill Winterfell soldiers and two small children, he deserved to either continue to rule Winterfell (as would any conqueror), death, or exile to the Wall. Theon's arc in the show and Ramsay Snow's character are both deviating from the books at this point, so it's important to know that 1 - in the books we're never present for Theon's torture, only in his damaged point of view afterward, looking at the world through hugely traumatized eyes - and 2 - Ramsay is much less deranged, and far more dangerous on page. Both of these changes *should* change the emotional reaction to the show, but don't. Beginning to feel pity for Theon is exactly where the reader is at this point too. Again, kudos to the actor - Alfie Allen has been doing a good job up to now, but in this season he begins to shine.
Theon was awful for what he did, but the level of torture Ramsay puts him through is far more than he deserved.
Nah! Betraying Robb and taking winterfell ... that's punishable by death
@@sidneyogungbemi4454 Death and torture are two different things, though. I don't think Theon deserved the torture.
@LalaDepala_00 that's fair. Ramsey is definitely an evil lad lol
Not to mention the two kids that he murdered.
Night night King Jeoffry😂
King Renly was riding Ser Loras. lol
@2:43: * Master Aemon. Maester Luwin was in Winterfell and was sadly murdered by Theon’s men in S2.
You got there man 😮
So to give a small hint, you won't see the perp poison the cup. But you will see the perp obtain the poison. But the moves are so smooth it's very easy to miss, even if you know who the perp is. But I will state who is not the perp: Tyrion.
I was waiting for you to start warming to jaimie lol
How can you smile and be so happy at the horrible death of such a sweet young boy?
He dies so unexpectedly that you don't even register it happening. I think they could have done the whole Jeoffrey dies scene better, but maybe they did it right.
This is only ep2, can you even imagine ep9?
I know right?
Ten , for Ramsey
Ahh, weddings.
Theon deserves everything he gets for betraying the Starks, killing those kids, and beheading Rodrik. He should've listened to his sister and left when he had the chance.
I thought it had to be Margie when this aired That may or may not be right, it was just my best guess. I only knew the accused couldn't be that dumb unless he just stopped caring what happened to himself. Going out with a bang. But that didn't feel right.
Karma, killed the king of the north so the king of the south? had to go as well. Balance.
Stannis is prolly right....about some things. How reliable are sell swords?
RIP Joffrey. Although he was sometime a bit annoying.
“The show that needs no introduction.” Proceeds to give a 5 minute introduction…
" but killing a man at a wedding?... Horrid. What kind of monster would do that?"
I really hope the moderators see that comment.
@@Andres64Bit doesn't matter even if Kevin reads it. He's More than 2 seasons ahead of what he posts to UA-cam.
To paraphrase the great Jimmy Macram, the single greatest moment in the history of television...
Jimmy was hilarious. Best reaction to this episode ever.
You know weddings in GOT 😆 Ramsey is a psychopath. His last name is Snow like Jon because they're bastards from the North. No Theon didn't deserve to lose little Theon imo. Cheers
Please don't put spoilers in your thumbnail for clicks. Common courtesy
Between 1 and 10? ... 🤔 ... he's like a solid 13.
I appear to be the only psycopath that doesnt mind what Ramsey's doing. Theon's initial betrayal made me hate him. What he did at Winterfell....to people that were almost family.... to impress strangers... to appear strong? That made me despise him. He deserves to suffer.
Moreover, I agree with my fellow watchers that Joffrey was the most hated character ever. I have never in my life cheered and screamed for a childs death as i did that day.
But i do not share the sentiment on Ramsey. In my mind, Joffrey did what he did out of pure malice. Psycopathic joy.
But Ramsey, as cruel as he is, has a method. He has a reason. Not necessarily a good one. But I can follow his reasoning.
To me Joffrey was senseless, power mad and malicious. Ramsay is just cruel and a little unhinged.
Theon deserved to die for all he did, but the systematic physical and psychological torture he endured was too much, even for him.
A much needed Lannister L
I kind of looked at this as the story robbing you of anything TOO satisfying. Yes, we're happy to see the end of Joffrey, but it was also kind of repulsive, and no one killed him in battle or anything. No triumphant enemy standing over him. And then some of our favorite or sympathetic characters get blamed.
i think this is actually a good way, its very unexpected but it still works (unlike some other things we see later on) and it progresses the story very well. like he is just a kid if it came to battle he wouldnt put up any of a fight so is it really that interesting if he just dies
There's a few deaths that kind of make up for the ones that suck, this was an awful death but getting sick of Joffrey, his character was a bit over the top, started getting in the way of the story, good riddance
King Joffrey is dead!
Long....live...the....King. 😅 No.
I absolutely hate Ramsey
Am I the only one that keeps looking at Cersei's cleavage at the end of the episode when she is cradling Joffrey in her arms?
I swear I had goosebumps everywhere when they revealed the person who did this.
