I love Clara Bow! She was the first Hollywood sex symbol that the studios built up...then tore down. They would go on to do this again and again. Fifty seven films in less than ten years...they really used her up. What a heart in her! 🌺
She fought to remain true to herself in a world that's notorious for changing people. Everyone has issues with which they must contend, and she was no different. I'm glad she was able to find her peace outside of the limelight.
Her face, especially her eyes, were mesmerizing, and her - I'll say and do whatever I want - attitude, gave her character. Charming as heck, my favorite flapper girl. Indeed she was IT.
Clara Bow is my favorite silent screen actress she had such a hard Life but you wouldn’t know it from seeing her in her movies. I think she was a very talented and beautiful woman. And deserves to be remembered
Well said also Clara could act with just her eyes as you can see in many close ups I first saw a film that she was in 50 or so years ago and I was soon under her spell so much so that when we were expecting our 1st child I told the wife if its a girl the name will be Clara happy to say it was a girl.
A biopic should be made about her. Her story is interesting and reminds me that of Judy Garland. Chaotic lives. May they rest peacefully after such turmoil.
David Stenn (author of the impeccably researched Clara bio "Runnin' Wild", as well as the wonderful Jean Harlow bio, "Bombshell") mentioned that he was going to make one some time ago. It's been several years, however, and I've seen no further mention of it. I hope it hasn't been shelved - if anyone can do a great Clara biopic, it's Stenn. He sees her flaws clearly, but respects her brilliance, and he's got sincere comassion for her. I really, REALLY hope this film gets made.
Who would play her though. I can't think of anyone around today who could pull it of. And would it be an honest depiction of her. I can't see Hollywood making a film about the way its actors are treated can you.
@@jackiebayliss The movie industry goes further than Hollywood city ( hopefully 🙄😏) Idk an nyc indie prod or a european director could do that.Doesn't matter really. This is about quality in the end, and getting a star in a project doesn't assure success anymore so it could be an unknown actress who understand well her story and capture her persona. The only notorious actress that I see playing her right now would be Rose Byrne.
@@jackiebayliss The studio system is long gone, and was at the root of a lot of the abuse then. (Not saying things are good now, just different.) There are films that examine the horrors of those days, look at the recent Judy Garland biopic. But I agree, it would be near impossible to cast anyone as Clara. It requires not only a certain look, but she'd have to be quite young, yet still possess an incredible range.
Research folks, Clara Bow was the "It" girl because she starred in a film of that title. The studios cultivated the moniker by advertising for other films as starring that It girl
The British Noveliat Elinor Glyn came up with the phrase 'it' and declared to the press that Clara Bow had 'it', and the studios immediately put her in a movie with that title to capitalise on her fame as the 'IT" girl, and she was the first of many.
I’d heard of Clara Bow before but never knew anything about her. You gave a lot of info in a short time but if the narrator had said flapper one more time I would have jumped off a bridge. Thanks for the biopic, she must have been fun to know.
CLARA BOW WAS ONE OF THE SMARTEST , NICEST , AND MOST CARING OF ALL THE HOLLYWOOD STARS , AND SO HAD A VERY DIFFICULT TIME OF IT ! BUT SHE WAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST STARS EVER !
I love you dedication on making these videos. I've been a Clara fan for over 40 years. Several pictures you include in this video are not Clara. The very first picture you show is not her. 4.48 not her.
Thanks for the video! I don't know if you take suggestions, but I would love to see a documentary about one one my all-time favorite actresses Jean Arthur. I know there isn't much info about her and it would certainly be a challenge. I have yet to find a good documentary on her. (Even a short one)
@@StellaWaldvogel Wow so she wasn't only an iconic star but she could be a true friend, authentic, real and compassionate. And it's rare in Hollywood. Very hypocritical place & industry. Yesterday, there was the oscars, people, journalists, the industry on general kiss ass of those stars but when these people are in trouble, they are ignored, rejected, ignored. The hype, the thrill is gone. So it's heart-warming to see that some were/ are different.
Beauty garners undue hostility of even those who deem themselves superior. Low self esteem most often sequesters in one manner or another . Hollywood’s machine often used and discarded whom they choose to rise to standing as bow did indicates courage, and flexibility in a very difficult industry 👌🏾🤓😇🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
My personal favorite from the silent era. Showing stills of Clara Bow is not showing Clara Bow. One must see her in action to actually understand her alchemy. It has been said that when Clara Bow entered a room all eyes were drawn to her and could look at nothing else. She had an amazing screen presence that apparently carried over into real life as well.
But was she a 'FLAPPER'...how do we know she actually could 'FLAP'...DID SHE 'FLAP' ALL THE TIME...??? Hilarious to listen to for sure, but she sounds like a real human being and an interesting one at that. I never did understand the Gloria Swanson attraction and for sure not Joan Crawford, but this Clara gal sounds like a lot of fun.
I agree, Clara Bow doesn’t look like she belonged in that era. She look’s like she belongs in ours .

Love these old stories... my grandparents day.
She was so beautiful, way ahead of her time.
Well done. I learned so much about her. Now I need to see one of her films.

@@richardreece6712 yes sir
Happy to hear she had a life after Hollywood, would have loved to met her.
Me too!💔
She dated Gary Cooper before he became famous and in one of her movies you can see Cooper open up a door and peek his head in for a brief moment.
Loved this lady for YEARS ❤️... About time, treated like trash pretty much from birth SMH 😭😭
Treated so badly!!!!💔

Flapper....🧐🤯🤯🤯🤭😂😂
She was separated from Rex Bell for several years and passed away in Culver City, Ca at age 60. The rest of the story
Sad...alone...💔
In some picture she reminds me of the actress Natasha Lyonne even more so in image at 12.34

Heard of her but never seem any of her movies do they even play any of her movies today
TCM probably.
TCM rarely plays her films. You'd have a better bet of watching them online (ok.ru) or buying them off amazon
It (silent) and Call Her Savage (talkie) show her beauty and power as an actress. Both on UA-cam I believe.
@@telephilia thank you
You can find a few on UA-cam and in libraries.
What is the blur @ 11:50?
Love Clara, sad life, sad ending.
I think her only rival is Louise Brooks. Can you make a video about her ?
LouLou was a friend to Clara when the rest of Hollywood wasn't. A great lady and a great actress.

Thanks AOV2😊
I loved her. I saw her movies. So she lived her life. May god bless her
❤❤❤❤❤❤
She was probably very unhappy. I watch this with my guess being that her father sexually abused her and that's why she acted out sexually.
I didn't know she retired at 28.
I’m watching this because my daughters name is Clara
That first pic, thats not Clara.
Any idea who it is?
Some flappers would often go to Harlem and hangout with Jazz musicians. 🖤👽
The very first photo is not Clara Bow.
Good for her. She knew it was all smoking mirror. Do what I say not what I do. Follow the prescribed path.
Yeah, I’d got to her party, immediately after making a presence at the prissy one for a minute, if so invited to both.
Ive seen some of her films
I love this women she was warrior she was exploited and used l love her now always and forever jimi
True beauty and talent.
She was so cool.
I need to give you a hug clara
There are Outcast Goddess...Lilith🐍...Hagar...🐍
Seems like she was a beautiful and wonderful lady wished I could have known her. Peter Rabbit.
the second picture doesn't even look like Clara Bow !
Did she die in 1965 at 65’?
She died that year at 60.
The subscribe button repeatedly popping up during the video is so annoying.

I don’t believe the semi-dressed damsel who pops up with her “tomboy charms” is even Clara Bow. Sure does not look like her.
NOT a starlet! One of the first megastars, even though for only a relatively short span of years.
What about this other female silent movie star... billie dove ?
Everything I really like is illegal, immoral or fattening!
she is great but you gotta stop with the subscribe nonsense
It has cut at the end. We didn't hear what you wanted to say. You need to be more careful before posting or republishing your videos. 😘😜🤭😏😉
I wish you would use different music in your videos
i was more interested in her person than her movies!
More irony. LOL
Can you please not include 'Subscribe' during the video, it is distracting.
Jazz Baby.
I see nothing in her,see better daily on the street
Go see an optometrist.
