- Here's a video of me explaining (badly) how the monitor section of the Otari MX5050 Mk iii-8 works. I use a range of test tones from on the machine as well as from Signal Scope X (www.faberacous....
I then give a demonstration of bouncing a project out of Logic Pro, onto tape, and then back into Logic Pro live.
The song is by me (Maestro BPM) and can be found on:

Hi. Do you have a copy of the manual? I posted one on this Fb group - facebook.com/groups/OnlyOtariTapeGroup/files/files From memory there is an explanation in there. Otherwise check out www.tapeheads.net/forums/ and you’ll more than likely find someone that can give you a detailed and specific explanation.

I did a full replacement of all the electrolytic capacitors a few years ago. Including the power supply. I probably replaced more than I needed to…
I have this machine but it needs some work
Get your hands dirty brother. If you're handy with electronics you'll be fine. I used to be a tech so most of the work I had to do was easy. I found refurbishing the capstan motor to be a little fiddly and I almost screwed it up. But I did a recap on it myself and it was great fun. There's a great forum on tapeheads.net that I've been contributing to which includes linke to service manuals and a journal I created of all the work that I've done on mine - start here - www.tapeheads.net/threads/5050-recap.84785/post-775685048
8 pistes pour 1/2 pouce. Le résultat doit pas être terrible !😢
The results are good enough for me!
