    Did this the hard way a few times last season at my home. Just applied this method after getting a 1/2 impact. This is much simpler. Just be careful to avoid over-torquing by checking your impact wrench’s torque settings and make sure it doesn’t exceed the ZTR manufacturer’s blade torque spec by much. Also, hand-tighten first as recommended in the video.

    I see a hoist in my future. That made that job so much easier. I have been pulling the deck out from under my John Deere.... that would eliminate unhooking the belt and pulling it out to change the blade. Thanks!!!

      I think this is the only way to change blades. Thanks for watching

    Very straight forward but I've never seen blades worn that much. We have clay up here in the north. Anyway I sure am intrigued by your lift you have. Could you touch on where that can be procured ? Thanks for sharing

      Thanks for watching. The lift is an old helicopter rescue hoist I picked up someplace and I built the frame around it and attached to the I beam trolley. I don't think you will find another one around like this one but they do sell small electric hoist. I go through about 2 sets of blades a year from the sand land that I am in.

    Hi Doug- do you have a video of the removable footplate you made for your wife on the scag mower?

    Are they threaded the regular way or reverse threaded?

    • @DougLearn
      @DougLearn  2 місяці тому

      They are standard thread

    Sir? What’s the name of that tool you are using? I probably need one of those…. I was trying to figure out how you had it in the air like that.

      That is a home made lift setup around a Helocopter rescue hoist. You wont buy that anyplace.

      Sorry but I only mention thread direction if it is other than standard righty tighty and lefty loosy. These are standard thread pattern and not left hand.

    How do you get the blades to lock so they don't spin when you take off the bolt?

    • @DougLearn
      @DougLearn  Рік тому

      If you have an impact gun it will take them off without having to hold them. If you donot have that then you can use a second wrench above the blades. On mine I have used a 1" open end wrench on top and a 15/16th socket on the bolt holding the blade on.

    Scag has sand blades specifically for that deck

      Thanks I had checked with my supplier the last time I bought blades and he did not have any. I now have another line on blades so will look into them when this case is gone.

    How do I get a pulley/lift system like that in my garage?

    • @DougLearn
      @DougLearn  2 роки тому

      The heavy steal I beam was a bit of a pain to get put into the air.I was lucky to have been given this beam many years ago and has worked well for me. The lift is an old helocopter rescue lift that I found in a minin warehouse auction find. Thanks for watching the video.
