Rough tradeoff - would love to have full understanding of the g7 + Omni combo before making the call. Not having a second brick is clear, but what controls will parents /caretakers (me) have with the iPhone Omni app. For example, can we bolus remotely…
I would imagine no. It will likely use bluetooth to communicate to the pods, just like the current controller. To do it remotely would require the pods have either cellular/wifi connectivity, and that’s pretty far fetched. Though i do like the idea, it would never happen.
Android user here, who is excited for the g7. My 3 month prescription is ready for fill in July, and used up in August. I really don't want to get another 3 month supply of g6 that would take me to November, so I'm curious!

LIES LIES LIES!! I don't believe anything omnipod promises anymore. I've been on Omnipod 5 for 1 year now with controller. They've been saying this for 1 year now. they really dropped the ball and there are tons of PISSED OFF diabetics. I heard they have to make new pods now to work with the dexcom g7. If your pod says Omnipod 5 compatible with g6 on the back, guess what, the update won't work for the g7. you'll need the new updated PODS
I agree! It's MADDENING! They've been so dishonest with us! I'm spending two weeks in Europe in Sept and the idea of having to lug around the controller is dreadful. Not to mention the risk of something happening to it. If I lose it, I'm screwed. If I lose my iPhone, I can put the app on my husband's phone and still be good. I just want to shout a big F-YOU to OP5 for lying to us and stringing us along for so long.

Last update I got said early summer 2024 it would be releases, then it was end of July 2024, now I saw into the fall of 2024🫠 Apparently it will also lose the algorithm when you download it to the iPhone and stop using the op5 controller, so it will have to relearn you again over a month’s time. I tell you, DIY loop was YEARS ahead of them!!
I just need the iPhone app released so I can get rid of the annoying android controller! G6 user.
I'm in the limited release of the Omnipod 5 using the G7. Starting in a couple of weeks!
