    I do think there is no concistency at all on this show, Joe did say Thornbird in relation to Greta Thunberg

      Yeah, and other times theyre much harsher on much slighter inaccuracies. It must be frustrating for the other teams, that one of their competitors to win actual money was just handed 18 points for a wrong answer. I would have objected. Especially considering they discounted Tami vs Tani, which is a smaller mistake than Thornbird vs Thunberg
      They also think that Malmö ends in an O though, so... it seems they dont give two shits about respecting Swedish names, whether it's place names or people's names

      To be fair, Tanni is Welsh. Thunberg is already pronounced incorrectly by everyone on the British Isles to begin with. "Th" is just a hard "T" (like Anthony or Thomas), the u is more like the oo in yahoo (albeit slightly different), and berg is pronounced like berry but with the "y" in "yes" at the end. So it's more or less like Toonberryuh.

      If he had said Thorm berg I would say fine. But he really did Thorn bird..lol

    Got most of the cities (except the Irish abd Zimbabwean ones). Just a slight mistake, I'm pretty sure "paulistano" refers to people from the state, while "paulista" refers to people from the city. I don't live there, but I think that's it 🙂

    Tanni Tammi - that's harsh.

      It was unfortunate for him, but not harsh: the answer was simply wrong. If they had accepted that, they would also have had to accept "Tabby", "Tally" and so on - none of which are her name.
      Conversely, they *were* overly lenient to accept "Thornberg". That's not a mere mispronunciation: it's pretty clear he recalled the name wrongly.

    Ö and O are completely different letters.

  • @satjus
    @satjus 5 місяців тому +2

    It is Malmö. Ö is a totally different independent letter of it's own

    • @lilbriggie
      @lilbriggie 5 місяців тому +7

      In English it is spelt with an "o". The English language doesn't have the letter ö. Tokyo ends with a 京 when it's spelt in Japanese but similarly the English language doesn't have this letter.

    But surely someone in the world someone will call her ‘Tammi’ Grey-Thompson…!!
    Of course the lad who was kicked out didn’t tick two diversity boxes.

      Wow I didn't know the answers were based on ticking diversity boxes, how does that work then? Shouldn't the hosts be black as well or would that be too obvious?

      @@snarkybuttcrack in case you didn’t watch the episode, a board of 16 famous women to name.
      Just previous to the lad saying Tammi Grey-Thompson, another lad said Greta Thornburg which was claimed to be ok because
      ‘somewhere in the world they will pronounce it as Thornburg not Thunberg’
      absolutely pathetic, they didn’t want to tell him he was wrong because he was black and gay…tick, tick, tickety-tick.
