Thanks for making this. I didn’t understand what this was and now I have it configured and I’m giving it a try!
Glad I could help!
I know this is an older video but still very helpful. Thanks ! Just got my ft5 for Christmas.
Glad it helped!
This is a great feature… will definitely get a lot of use when I finally get one.
Great video. Been thinking about buying a good HT (only have CCR's presently) and this one is at the top of the list. Watching all I can about it. Hope you'll do more of these configuration videos for the FT5D for other functions. Thanks. If I do get one, as I anticipate, I'll be returning to watch this again, surely.
Thank you, very informative.
After seeing this, I set up the four nearest Wires-X repeaters as a Group I named ”Wires-X.” Works perfectly on my FT3D. So much better than setting them up as a bank to scan- which is saying something, because it can do that, too.
Why monitor multiple Wires-X repeaters for activity? Because the various owners have been mixing it up with Wires-X and just regular (even linked) repeater usage, and I am hoping to find one idling in “X” mode, so I can play in room I like.
Ten days until my FT3’s first birthday, and I am still learning neat tricks it knows how to do. Thanks.
Excellent Tips and HowTo's of the feature. Cheers M7WDX
fantastic video 73 from kb2uew
Great video 73 de N1AD
Really well explained, thank you
I'm really going to have to go ahead and order one of these, aren't I?
Yeah, it's a lot of money but you'll know why. I have been very happy
That’s an intestinal group monitoring feature. I have problem with my FT-5D. On channel 1 and some other channels, the upper left green led is constantly flashing. On other channels, the green led is constantly on, even when no signals are being received.
I suspect that this has something to do with priority scan. How do I turn off priority scan so that the green light only is displayed when FM signals are received, without scanning.
Sweet! Also, I presume the mic must have dried out, eh?
Ha, yes the microphone dried out. Working just fine.
GOOD INFO
The FT-3DR is 100% dead on SW. How is the SW reception on this radio?
Do you actually hear the signal when it pops up yellow, or do you only see it?
is there a way of setting it to automatically switch to the "active" channel when someone is transmitting on a channel that your not currently on?
So, this will show activity on any of the five channels per group, but it will only pass audio on the selected channel, correct?
The manual does not do a good job on this subject, so it was nice to see it being programmed and run in the video form.
These club groups are separate from the bank groups?
Correct.
Hello my friend...
Thanks for sharing this video. I've just got my FT5DR a couple of days ago so I'm learning how to get to know it... Seems little difficult..but after watching this video I feel better.. I would like to ask you a Question PLEASE:
How can I customize the colors like that?
I mean..for example:
A BLUE
B RED
or vice-versa..
Looks cool!!
I've been playing with mine and either I get it BLUE & WHITE or RED & WHITE... but no BLUE & RED.
I'd be very grateful if you help me out with this.
Thanks in advance!

Great video! Question: Do you know of any way to scan otherwise monitors the hosts or room that one can program into wires-x?
I don’t quite understand the question. What are you trying to accomplish?
@@K0LWC Well, I'm new to Fusion (W2RHA). In Wires-x, I have an FT-5...In Wires-X, you can program different hosts. I believe that there are 5 banks, each holding a reflect or host or room, I believe. Is there any way to monitor some of those "channels" as in CAM or scanning?
I don’t really see the point of it…. I’m supposed to do this and then sit and stare at the screen for activity? When John Kruk first described this feature he compared it to commercial radios and their use of a ‘Command’ bank to easily enter channels into and out of. I regularly use a Bendix King for the Fire Department and love this command back feature. So seeing how this actually works on the FT5 is rather underwhelming.
Did you know that there are people who sometimes do things that you do not want to do? Shocking, but true.
@@waytospergtherebro so you want to sit and just stare at the screen to see activity?
