Programming on the fly is fine, when you need to. The right software, like the RT Systems programming software, makes radio programming so much easier.
Thanks for the video. When I initially saw your lat/long columns, I got giddy and thought that the Yaesu handheld would actually let me search for the nearest repeater. No luck!
Great video on programming the FT5DR with RT Systems software! Those steps should make it simpler to do. The Repeater Book website would be better if you could enter your location and search for a list of repeaters within a specified mileage range from your location or maybe the center of your zip code. You’re Yaesu FT5DR tutorial videos are fantastic! They make learning how to use the Yaesu FT5DR easy. Do you have any hotspot videos, such as the OpenSpot4 Pro?
No hotspot videos but I will put this into my list of suggested works. My problem in getting videos out is due to time constraints, aka: work and life getting in the way.
I know nothing about spread sheets and so a whole new addition to the FT5DR learning curve. Why can't I just copy and paste between a source and the RT Systems software and eliminate the need for the spreadsheet program.
Shame that Yaesu didn't make it where we could upload a simple Excel Spreadsheet without spending even more money for RTSystems. I have the FT5DR and love it. Is there an Open Source free version out there similar to RTSystems?
Hi Steve, thanks for the video. In the beginning of the video, you chose csv to work with. There is however a few lines lower an option called RTSystems. Is there a reason you chose to go over csv and not use the RTsystems option ? 73 de VK6BLU, Johan, Perth, Australia.
I don't mean to sound like a doalt, but I had some questions. I am a new ham with a tech license. I understand the loading of RT systems data to my Yeasu (FT-70D), I am sure that this video will be similar. When you finished the upload to your radio, how are the different uploaded channels accessed? Are they on several buttons, or just one and then "drill down" to the different frequencies? that is my problem. Thanks for the video. Richard
A GOOD PORTION OF THIS VIDEO concerns transferring data from Repeater Book to an Excel spreadsheet and then to the radio. THE EXCEL SPREADSHEET STEP IS UNNECESSARY and time consuming. The RT software IS a spreadsheet. No need to transfer files twice.
At the time of this video, it didn't work. Turned out to be a security setting on my PC. Your point is valid and taken well. And, it's working fine now on my end.
I may be mistaken, but I think Excel was used to perform a filtering function on "County" because only three county's data was needed and not the whole RepeaterBook CSV listing for FL.
I have found everytime you upload to the radio it changes everything to FM and not DN even though they are set as DN in RT Systems software and I seen everything you programmed said FM even though you did say you were programming some C4FM frequencies. RT-Systems was no help and no matter what I do they all switch to FM and I have to manually have to switch them back RT-Systems says it shouldn’t do that but can’t tell me how to fix this any idea?
@@K4SRF the FT5D. And I opened a new file and added everything as before and it worked there must of been a glitch in the program file or codeplug what ever yaesu calls it I reloaded the original file with all the allocation modes to DN and in the radio went back to all FM reloaded the new copy of the same file and it worked and set everything to DN. So it must of been my programming although I don’t know why and RY-Systems took the original file and it worked fine for them so I just deleted the original and things appear to work fine now
I have been struggling for 2 days. I can import form the radio, but even if I don't make s single change when i try to send to radio I get a data error not a valid frequency. Nothing updates.
You obviously need to watch a tutorial on using RT Systems software. You can do all that by just going to , file, External data and then repeater book search. Right inside of the RT systems software. WOW !!!
@@K4SRF I use this method with 4 different radios including the ft5d. If you watch the RT systems tutorials, they will teach you the same thing. It works for me every single time. You might be doing something wrong. Try "downloading from radio first", then make all the changes, and then upload to radio.
@@miaminarc I have used this software with my Kenwood's and ICOM radios too; works great. BUT. . .I found my problem this afternoon when I had time to research. It was a recent Windows security update. I disabled the update and the software works now as intended. I figured it was an update issue because while testing, the RT software also threw the same error message with my Kenwood and ICOM radios as well. Problem solved. Thanks for your input though!
The Yaesu ADMS programming software is not that good. RT systems says when they retire, the company will cease because there is no successor or purchaser. I wonder if that is still true. Their programming software is much better than most of the stock programming software.

Love RT Systems software! Their support is also first class. Like your spreadsheet method. Will do that on my upload.

KD9TUG here, I have the Yeasu FT-70DR coming Tuesday and I may need to pick your brain a bit more about this. 73
Good luck with that TUG. This guy doesn't bother to answer questions. At least not here in the comments.

No reason, just a choice. I now use the import from external option, in my case from Repeater Book.

I think this all depends on your radio and how it can be set up. I am not familiar with the FT-70D, sorry.

You should remove this video. Redo the instructions correctly if you want. Get rid of these wrong instructions.

How do u add tabs also are you using ft3d as i can not find FT5 for sale rt systems , many thanks
Do you mean user defined tabs or just adding hidden tabs?
Hi how I can the band end configure sellf in the frequency range?
Are there any keyboard commands for the RT Systems programming software?
John KB5HCT
Not sure but don't think so. Contact RT Systems for software specific questions.
looks like exactly the same software as the FT3D. you think you can use this software for both radio's? and i always use the SD card. works easier.
Not sure. This would be a question that RT Systems would have to answer.
I'm having trouble entering the GPS Information. Has anyone sorted out this process yet?
How does one handle memory bank programming?

Buy an $8 SD card and use that instead.
Make sure you have the latest version of the software for that model radio. If this doesn't work, contact RT Systems.

It would be sad for RT to cease operations as they have such a good reputation and product.
