    Learning Korean is learning Korean culture. If you learn seemile Korean, you will understand Kpop lyrics without translation, and you will be able to watch Korean dramas and movies without subtitles. I understand and feel the songs of the Bulletproof Boys (BTS). Start learning with Korean with "seemile Korean".
    The "seemile Team" also released app to learn Chinese (Mandarin).

    I want to thank Jenny for this lesson and the previous one. I felt a little scared when she went from alphabet to reading in a straight go, but that was exactly what I needed to help the letters settle in my head and make sense. Jenny, you have managed to make me able to read Korean and now I can finally read my favorite song's lyrics. I must recommend for those who want to practice their reading, Spotify lyrics function is a great tool. You can read the lyrics first yourself and then listen to the person singing them and check yourself

    Learn a language for yourself and the enrichment of your mind. While you are learning the language learn more about Korea culture than just kpop and kdrama. Kpop and Kdrama is entertainment but its not indicative of everyday Korean livelihood. It will be more fulfilling and just maybe you'll eventually understand Bangtan's satoori 😘. This is probably the easiest writing system on the planet! I've watched both Jenny's 1 & 2 video and I can already read some words. I just need to fully memorize all the characters, and I'll be able to fully read Korean.
    I wouldn't know what the heck I'm reading, but at least I'd be able to read it :) I also think this is probably one of the only languages where learning the alphabet is so important (for proper pronunciation) prior to actually leaning to speak the language. Now I just need to add a bunch more words to my vocabulary and I'll be well on my way.

    • @1smallstep
      @1smallstep 8 років тому +56

      +Guillaume gui For the non-Korean speaker it does look that way, but for Korean it is totally logical. The Korean language is rich in suffixes and combination words and often when there is a suffix or combo added there is a pronunciation shift on the last consonant of the modified word. For example, 멋 (mot, rhymes with hot) means "flavor" or "taste" 있다 (eetda) means "to exist" or "to have'. Combine these two words and you get 멋있다 meaning "delicious". But it is not pronounced "moteetda", it is pronounced "mosheetda" - the "t" on the end of "mot" shifts to a "sh". By using the "ㅅ" instead of "ㅌ" you know to change the pronunciation, or if you are a native speaker you know that since mot becomes mosheeda, you use the "ㅅ". Now, normally you won't say mosheetda, you are going to change the final ending to give the verb some context - most common would be to drop the "da" and add an "o" to make it present tense, informal. This would be 멋있어. Again you get a pronunciation shift; the final "t" becomes a tense "s" and you get "mosheesso".
      I hope that this is making some sort of sense - it is way different from English and I'm not a language instructor. I just hope you get two walk aways from this; that 7 letters making the same sound does make sense if you already speak Korean and that you can see why Jenny did not cover it at this point.

    I was expecting Korean to be much harder than Japanese - and at first it was. Finding these videos has been so unbelievably helpful! Turns out Hangul is MUCH easier than Kanji - the syllables to consonants to the combinations are similar in what they do and how they do them to English so my head doesn't have as hard a time wrapping around them. 감사합니다 선생님!!!

    I am from India and Odia is my native language. It is easier to learn this when I know odia. But Odia has more sounds than Hangul. So basically my name doesn't have the exact sound in Hangul. The 'Dha' is missing. Also now I know why BTS pronounces some English words differently. It was really fun learning. I now know how to read Hangul with just 2 videos and in 2 days!! You are a great teacher :D

      It is depends on word! Anyway there is like pattern in sentence. If you guys start memorize verbs and noun after finish to memorize hangle, you guy can For recognise differences. For example 갓 = 갔 both are same pronunciation, but we use ㅆ more for verbs. ㅅ is for more noun. In fact English is same, something doesn't make sense but people just memorize words lol.

      @@chelseawinfrey5074 I just took notes as usual. For example, for the letters, I listed them all (Both Consonants and Vowel). Then I try to memorize 3 of them first, including the pronunciation. After I finish memorizing those 3, I will memorize the other parts as well. I won't continue to the other levels until I perfect my writing and my reading first, so that's why I always do a lil' quiz for myself and I would also challenge myself to read korean words through internet! Just a small tip, practicing your reading at least each day really helps to enhance your speed at reading in Korean (at least that's what I experienced) and take notes because it's really important and in-case you tend to forget small details easily, you can just go back to your notes :)) I hope that helped! 💗💗
