15:21 Good call-out, they did add multi-point connectivity via a firmware update. Not sure when this happened, but I just bought a pair in Apr 2023, and it's available after you do the update. I can now use these on my phone and laptop. They are lighter and so much more comfortable to wear. These are my new favorites 😊
Just picked a pair up for $178.10 AUD - that's around $118 USD. I really appreciate their discrete appearance, comfort is also high priority for me. At some point I may purchase some Comply or perhaps a set of hybrid tips to improve isolation and ANC performance. Thanks for the detailed review 👍
Actually, I could have picked them up for the equivalent of $102 USD, however considering Sony doesn't honour warranties when buying from unofficial eBay sellers and keeping in mind the occasionally reported quality control issues - cheapest didn't seem like the best idea!

These Sony linkbud S buds are amazing. I am very picky about fit, sound quality and connectivity range, and sound cancelation . These ear buds knock it out of the park in every aspects. Also it is extremely useful to be able to adjust exactly how loud the ambient sound is.. It can be set to surpass your natural earing ability in terms of sensitivity. Thank you for the good review! I bought my Linkbuds S recently so I struggled a lot with usage of just one of the earbuds (left one). So I was so unhappy that I can't use just the left one, but thanks to you I understood the problem. So, thank you! Also I will want to have the possibility to make my own choice of the functions of each earbud. I don't want a limited set of options in groups. Also I want both earbuds to be used independly and fabric options to be the same. Extremely light and comfortable. Fit very well in my ears. I have also Galaxy bud pro and they have excelent sound (better than Linkbuds S) but they fall all the time from my ears. They are extremely uncomfortable for me. So I'm happy with my new purchase.
Watching this on my XM4, it seems like a bad choice because of comfort and voice call quality. Since, Sony have already added the multi-point feature, I believe that advance voice signal processing can also be added to these to become a wonderful choice for those who don't have any problem with the comfort.
Something I've grown to dislike is the idea of there being an absolute undisputed king in the audio space as an overall blanket. Not that some can't be objectively better than others, but a good selection of the top really aren't in the same category as the rest. Like the soundcores are the undisputed best V shaped TWS. It would be objectively better with a bit more mids and a knocking the treble down a touch, but those are things you can easily add in the app. But then you got these sony's which are easily one of the best for neutral/warm neutral tws. I'd imagine it must be pretty hard as a reviewer to go about that because so many people just want an easy reply to "whats the best? " as if it had a simple awnser
*_Sony_* - you *_must_* provide more logical and adaptable touch controls via a firmware update. As Jeff explains in this video, the current scheme is inadequate.
I agree that I want the option to decide exactly what each tap option does. I don't want just a limited set of options in groups. There should also be a single bud option where if you're only wearing a single bud, it'll have an option set for that. There are controls that I'm always going to want, and losing pause/play and forward or back because I'm only using the left isn't really acceptable.
The pixel buds pro does a really good job having every option on both buds thanks to the swipe for volume. Too bad they're kinda mid in most other categories
I bought these when they came out in June 2022 and after about 18 months I started having the "battery drainage issue" that has been reported by several owners. Look up videos on UA-cam that talk about this problem. What happened was that at some point Sony released an app update that affects the voltage while changing the buds. The higher voltage damaged the battery. Now after a full charge, my right bud gets down to 0% after only about 25 minutes of playing while the left bud is at around 60-70%. Sony won't take responsibility for their mistake and it's not worth getting repaired because it's either too expensive and/or too complicated to do myself. This will be the last Sony product I will have bought. I now own a pair of Soundcore Space A40.

Jefe this is an awesome frickin countdown man!!!!! Know ya don't do speaker reviews jefe I'm not a jbl fan their extreme 3 and boombox 2 are trash for their prices but their partybox 110 is best speaker I've owned and they just added eq to their app!!! It totally changed that speaker for the better!! Needless to say I'm purchasing 2 motion boom plus speakers tomorrow!!! They will finally overtake w king x10 and d10 for best portable speaker!!
@@ELJefeReviews heck yea man!!! I'd love to hear your thoughts on bt speakers. I think the boom plus is gonna be really special and do to the bt speaker world what the liberty 2 pro and the 3 pro did to the tws world!!!!!
Thank you for being honest about the price of the Sony's it's too high. I'm really happy with the new JBL Live Free Pro the Ambient mode and ANC is now competitive with some of the best and that bass. 🤯 No LDAC support though. Thanks again great work. 🤔👍💯🇺🇸
While it's nice to see a smaller design for those who just couldn't bare the xm4 I just wish they'd give their earbuds a gaming mode. For how much they push it on their phones it kinda makes no sense to have their Bluetooth headphones not have something like that. As long as the sound isn't as warm as it was on the xm4 where certain artists vocals would sound a bit muffled I'd be fine with these honestly. Lol the only thing is the battery life which is honestly crazy on the xm4. It's good to see they fixed the volume though. I feel it was less of a bug, and more of them thinking since the anc is so strong that it'll cancel out enough noise for louder volumes to not matter, which is dumb, but compared to other earbuds the xm4 were too quiet for me and that's what ultimately made me switch to the LG tone fp9
I want to replace my old Realme earbuds. I'm between the LinkBuds S and the Technics AZ60, which ones would you recommend? ANC and sound quality matter the most to me. BTW, thank you for all your reviews! You're the best
My new job is issuing androids … so, would you go for Sonys or 1more for work and little music? Got to be able to have it connected to windows laptop and an android phone? Also there is conflicting reports on multipoint, it seems to be there, are we missing something? From what I can read they added multipoint via firmware update. Have you tried?
El Jefe, I appreciate this awesome review, but man the lack of wireless charging and the issue with the left earbud is just to enough to pass these up. I'm still on the fence between Sennheiser MTW3 or waiting on the Pixel Buds Pro.
Looking forward to when my new pair arrives. Without a doubt, more customization for available controls is better - hoping Sony pushes that kind of an option through a future update. Close decision between these and the Sennheiser momentum 3's, but couldn't pass up on a smoking deal
as always, great review dear Jeff many thanx, it seems like Sony is riding the seesaw when it comes to ear buds, adding some functions and compromising some other functions making it extremally difficult for us to choose
I love my linkbuds s, they sound amazing and I can wear them long hours at work no problem. The only issue I have with them I’ve seen common with them is a white noise I hear during calls. Unfortunately I haven’t found a solution for that other than trying to warranty but my 2nd gen AirPods I use over these when I’m expecting a call or needing to make one. Anyone else with linkbuds s having the white noise issue as well?
Double tab on your buds to change to next mode ANC , white noise use for going out. Sir I always change both mode : In office : anc Go out : the other mode , i don't know what its name , but i clearly love this mode when i am driving .
I just recently got the oppo enco x2 and I will have to say they are probably the best sounding earbuds I have gotten. I have the lp3, mifo hifipods, and some other and like these even more. All the features they offer are hard to beat.
@@ELJefeReviews even the anc for me is stronger than I feel the lp3 could be they just fit better I don't know. I will say the wind noise reduction is amazing as well. I love how it kicks in without you having to toggle it on. More people need to get these!! Oh and we lhdc on they sound even BETTER
@@ELJefeReviews are these better than fit beat bros? I want good sound quality but something that stays in the ear as i workout. Otherwise i was thinking the bang olfsen but its a bit of a wait to find them. Basically im in se asia and want to buy something now and fit beat pros seem good?
I would say the only nitpick I have with these would be that I wish they were more black instead of like a gray color. Other than that I'd say they're probably pretty solid earbuds Sony does make good headphones and earbuds I haven't tried the x4s yet
Hey, the problem where you can only use the right earbud and don't have any other link services on, the other main cause is the Google assistant. I don't know why, but disabling this fixed the problem.
Good review, el jefe at its best. Just for you to know, you mislabelled the time stamp of the app. It says Onemore app instead of Sony connect, don't know if you can correct it. No big deal thou. I really love your comparisons. Congrats!!
hello Jeff, i just picked one of these at discounted price which is equivalent to $140 so far i'm really happy with it, just as you said if these were priced below $150 it would be a killer
Nice detailed review. Using xm3 and looking for upgrade. I need to decide between this and 1 more evo. What would be your recommendation. Which is better for wind noise reduction and have better sound and Anc.
Hey man you sound like you know what you're doing (no idea what all this info is about) but I find these earbuds at $130 and I find the soundpeats opera 05 to be a strong contender but I'm afraid of the big size for these earbuds and I'm underwhelmed about the battery life for Sony. Sound more importantly than anything, what would you recommend? (I like listening closer to the bass side 50 cent, Micheal Jackson, Rock etc) I look forward to learning from your channel. Keep it up!
Hello Jefe, I'm thinking about getting eithrt the Oppo Enco X2 or the LinkBuds S. They are both around 120€ here in Germany. Which one would you prefer? Sound quality is most important to me. I'm a bit worried the software and customer support might be subpar with the Oppos. Thanks for your help!
I can’t speak for customer support in your country from either company. If you buy either, you should buy them from a reputable store that will offer refund or exchanges for you if you encounter any problems. If sound quality is most important, Oppo Enco X2 is the superior choice.
I am about to return the soundcore liberty pro 3. Just because of the piercing treble. I can dial them down with an EQ, but them I am missing the highs. So after 10 minutes I am tired of listening with them. Are the 1more evo or the linkbud s better less fatique with treble?
Hi Jefe!!... I'm about to buy the SoundPEATS Mini Pro HS wireless earbuds with Hi-Res Audio and LDAC, Bluetooth 5.2... I'm just looking for Hi-Res sound, so that Tidal's Master tracks (MQA) can be heard without loss, and preferably have a magenta light indicator as a sign of MQA (Master) lossless playback with Bluetooth. My budget is no more than 1500 to 1800 up to 2000, what do you recommend? (Mexican pesos)
nice and detailed review ! wondering how would this rank up against the LG free tone fp(5) range. haven't used in ear for a while, but looking for a pair to complement the Sennheiser pxc550 ii and the 560s.
Hey jefe i have question I am struggling to pick between these earbuds Sony linkbuds s, jabra elite 5, sennheiser cx plus, and moondrop sparks I'm someone who value balanced clear vocal sound type and something with the least delay / latency and strong connectivity. Which one I should get ? Or is there others that you recommend ?
Hey El Jefe. I've tried every pair of true wireless earbuds on the mid to high end market, and my needs have changed. I have a hundred dollar budget and I need a pair that is best for anc, phone calling, and battery life. Sound quality is so important to me, but I'm willing to compromise for the sake of comfort and anc/battery life since I drive for a living. Are these still worth it right now if I can get them for 100 bucks, or is there another pair you'd recommend more around the 100 dollar mark?
Hi. I was considering buying XM4 but they could be too big for me so I am considering the Linkbuds S. I need good enough ANC mainly to block out traffic noise while travelling. Sound quality comes in second. Is Linkbuds S ANC good enough for blocking traffic sound? I saw some reviews where they were complaining about wind like sound with the ANC on. Did you also face that issue?
Hi @EL JEFE, I am considering this against the jabra elite 4, the jabra is cheaper in my country (about 35 dollar cheaper). I saw in your jabra's review and that you said the elite 4 has stronger ANC compare to jabra elite 7, how is the linkbuds ANC compare to the elite 4? (is there a 35 dollar worth ANC difference?)
You should do a review on the Huawei 5i's I got them yesterday and am very happy with them they stack up to others reviews I guess I'm just interested what your take is on it
i always prefer comfort and good anc which linkbuds s offers (I always listen around 40-50% of volume so can't really differentiate the sound quality over other). definitely a good tws earbuds.
Hey Jeff - I just picked up the _LinkBuds S_ at Best Buy in Emeryville for $149. That means I'll probably return my _Pixel Buds Pros_ after a couple days of of A/B testing. We'll see...
@@ELJefeReviews will do, once I decide. But I'm already learning towards Sony, based on my particular priorities. Thanks for your work; you and your contemporaries have helped a lot!
@@deykno87 I've returned the Pixel Buds Pro. Sony won this time due to better sound & incl. EQ, comparable if not better call quality, better fit, *_and_* I saved $50.
@@malcontent_1 I just returned my PBP and am planning on buying the Linkbuds S. The PBP just had bad noise isolation, a poor fit, and they picked up a lot of wind noise. Did you go for the white Linkbuds S? I've seen a few reviews that mentioned there is a different texture between the white and black variants. I prefer the look of the white ones, but I'm afraid that they'll pick up too much dirt. On the downside, the PBP controls were amazing and these will definitely be a step down.
I tried the soundcore liberty 3 pro since it was on sale for 90 bucks, and they honestly feel too clunky. Both technologically and comfort wise. The touch controls were pretty unresponsive at times for instance. I've got these now for $150, and I'm pretty happy with them. Wish there was wireless charging and more customizability for the touch controls but that's about it
@ELJefeReviews can you tell us hows the battery life on this holding up after a year. this is the one thing all the reviews basically cant tell. Yo thanks for the video and I’m looking to grab these but problem is there’s one other pair earbud thats caught my eye, AirPods Pro. At this point I just want to come to a decision and the only thing that’s stopping said decision is anc. Could you please tell me which set of earbuds has the best anc. Thanks and much appreciated

Hi, i need some help please if you can spare a few minutes. I have problem connecting linkbuds to my phone. I just picked a pair up a couple days ago and I'm loving them. going from the M&D MW07 Plus to these was a huge upgrade.
Good to know!

Nice! I'll be reviewing the Motion Boom Plus soon!
No worries!
No doubt bro!
I want to replace my old Realme earbuds. I'm between the LinkBuds S and the Technics AZ60, which ones would you recommend? ANC and sound quality matter the most to me.
BTW, thank you for all your reviews! You're the best
Technics AZ60
Great review 👍
Glad you liked it!
Fair enough. I'm excited for the Pixel Buds Pro. But if you need something now, the MTW3 are tough to beat.
Looking forward to when my new pair arrives. Without a doubt, more customization for available controls is better - hoping Sony pushes that kind of an option through a future update. Close decision between these and the Sennheiser momentum 3's, but couldn't pass up on a smoking deal
Fair enough!
They actually cost just a little over 100 dollars now. Definitely worth it.
Agreed. The price drops definitely help.
Ok, pero comparado en sonido vs el xm4? Cual tiene mejor separación en capas, un agudo mas detallado y un bajo más controlado de los 2?
Amazing job
Thank you! Cheers!
as always, great review dear Jeff many thanx, it seems like Sony is riding the seesaw when it comes to ear buds, adding some functions and compromising some other functions making it extremally difficult for us to choose
Yes, exactly!
Thanks for your your reply
Love my link buds
Nice!
I have both the wf-1000xm4s and the link buds and I prefer my xm4s but the link buds are pretty sick
Good Day Sir El Jefe 💜
Good day bro!
Nice review!
Are they smaller than the Soundcore Space A40?
Looking for a small size earbuds, ideally smaller than the Jabra Elite 75t
The Sony are only SLIGHTLY smaller than the Space A40.
@@ELJefeReviews thank you so much for the quick reply!
The limited touch controls on the Sonys are indeed a big drawback. Is it so hard to offer single tap, tap and hold, and double + triple tap bindings?
Exactly. Thank you!
Sir
I always change both mode :
In office : anc
Go out : the other mode , i don't know what its name , but i clearly love this mode when i am driving .
I have the same issue. Did you able to solve this issue? Did you send it back for repair?
I just recently got the oppo enco x2 and I will have to say they are probably the best sounding earbuds I have gotten. I have the lp3, mifo hifipods, and some other and like these even more. All the features they offer are hard to beat.
I hear you! Oppo really came through strong with the Enco X2. I wish people would stop sleeping on them here in the states.
Agreed.
Hey, the problem where you can only use the right earbud and don't have any other link services on, the other main cause is the Google assistant. I don't know why, but disabling this fixed the problem.
That worked on my XM4 earbuds. Did not work with my LinkBuds S.
Do you spend 100£ more for new model sony wf-1000xm5 instead sony linkbuds s???? PLEASE HELP
Only if you are not satisfied with the sound and performance of the LinkBuds S. Otherwise no.
Excelente jefe! ✌️ Saludos!
Saludos!
Good review, el jefe at its best. Just for you to know, you mislabelled the time stamp of the app. It says Onemore app instead of Sony connect, don't know if you can correct it. No big deal thou. I really love your comparisons. Congrats!!
It was 3am. Small mistakes happen. But thanks for pointing it out. I went ahead and fixed it.
I would like customize touch control. on all 3 of the taps and the press and hold.
Agreed.
Nicely done.. 👍
Thank you!
hello Jeff, i just picked one of these at discounted price which is equivalent to $140
so far i'm really happy with it, just as you said if these were priced below $150 it would be a killer
Nice detailed review. Using xm3 and looking for upgrade. I need to decide between this and 1 more evo. What would be your recommendation. Which is better for wind noise reduction and have better sound and Anc.
1More
Hey man you sound like you know what you're doing (no idea what all this info is about) but I find these earbuds at $130 and I find the soundpeats opera 05 to be a strong contender but I'm afraid of the big size for these earbuds and I'm underwhelmed about the battery life for Sony.

Hi i feel my linkbuds s max volume isn’t loud enough with my iphone 12? Is it normal? How to make it louder?
nice and detailed review ! wondering how would this rank up against the LG free tone fp(5) range.
haven't used in ear for a while, but looking for a pair to complement the Sennheiser pxc550 ii and the 560s.
Go with Sennheiser MTW3 instead. Especially if you prefer Sennheiser tuning.
While on the phone with the linkbuds, where you getting a soft popping sound? Like a fizzy drink?
Not that I'm aware of.
Hey jefe i have question
I am struggling to pick between these earbuds
Sony linkbuds s, jabra elite 5, sennheiser cx plus, and moondrop sparks
I'm someone who value balanced clear vocal sound type and something with the least delay / latency and strong connectivity.
I'd go with either Liberty 4 or JBL Live Free 2. Not sure if you can find them for $100 right now.
Yes. Strong wind can affect ANC on most earbuds.
Just got these for 128 on prime day... Hopefully they deliver
For that price they are an excellent value.
Hi @EL JEFE, I am considering this against the jabra elite 4,
the jabra is cheaper in my country (about 35 dollar cheaper).
I saw in your jabra's review and that you said the elite 4 has stronger ANC compare to jabra elite 7,
how is the linkbuds ANC compare to the elite 4? (is there a 35 dollar worth ANC difference?)
Great review. Could you please compare these earbuds against the Nuratrue?
Nuratrue have better sound quality after you use their adaptive EQ. Aside from that, the Sony win.
Dear jefe, Which earbuds has the best sound quality, generally regardless of price among all available models?
What does "best" mean to you? Sound quality is subjective to your personal taste so the answer depends on what type of sound you prefer.
You should do a review on the Huawei 5i's I got them yesterday and am very happy with them they stack up to others reviews I guess I'm just interested what your take is on it
Broooo they had some wmf4000 refurbs on amazon for 150... Snagged them asap. Working very well
Nice catch!
Hello, Jeff. Bluetooth multipoint is hardware or software?
LG tone free pf9 vs Sony link buds s - which one is better?
Please rate
How do these LinkBuds S compare with the new Sennheiser Momentum 3 for stay fit during workouts and ANC?
No contest. MTW3 win easily.
i always prefer comfort and good anc which linkbuds s offers (I always listen around 40-50% of volume so can't really differentiate the sound quality over other). definitely a good tws earbuds.
just a question if i dont use LDAC can i game with them? i know it is not no latency but is it horrible
i have both the 1 more EVO, and the Sony link buds S, I'm torn between them. which would you get/keep? ill be returning one of them.
1More for me!
Hey Jeff - I just picked up the _LinkBuds S_ at Best Buy in Emeryville for $149. That means I'll probably return my _Pixel Buds Pros_ after a couple days of of A/B testing. We'll see...
Let me know how it goes!
@@ELJefeReviews will do, once I decide. But I'm already learning towards Sony, based on my particular priorities. Thanks for your work; you and your contemporaries have helped a lot!
Verdict?
Wish there was wireless charging and more customizability for the touch controls but that's about it
Glad you found a set that works well for you!
@ELJefeReviews can you tell us hows the battery life on this holding up after a year. this is the one thing all the reviews basically cant tell. You reaserch and find a decent buds paying 150$ and six months later the battery life is less than half. Please do let us know how the battery is performing after an year. Thanks mate. Great reviews❤.
Which earbuds have the best ambient mode and can be slept in?
Yo thanks for the video and I’m looking to grab these but problem is there’s one other pair earbud thats caught my eye, AirPods Pro. At this point I just want to come to a decision and the only thing that’s stopping said decision is anc. Could you please tell me which set of earbuds has the best anc. Thanks and much appreciated
Sony ANC is stronger.
Great to hear thanks a ton.
I was thinking to buy sennheiser momentum 3 but its to expensive. I decided to buy linkbuds s but I am not really sure about this. I m always listeting a techno music thats why Iam not sure. Can you prefer something to me? kinda 150 Euro or something that range?
Soundcore Liberty 4 or 1More Evo.
wait so if LDAC gives that much time why are people saying they barely crack three hours
I can't speak for "people". I can only share the honesty of my own personal experience with you.
@@ELJefeReviews Understandable have a good day
EQ, Speak-to-chat and Asistent drain more battery. So, everyone have diferent settings.
