Great video, thanks for sharing. Do you sell the kit to cover disc brakes? I want my hot rod period correct. With current technology.

My dad always liked to talk about how different auto companies were organized. When he was younger, Pontiac was the division that focused on performance engineering when GM didn’t condone factory backed racing, but it was done in the name of “helping law enforcement”. Buick was the division that focused on brake and suspension improvements.
“Disks are great, but those Buick finned aluminum rotors were amazing. You could lay on them for ages and have zero fade”

On a light car such as a Hotrod these if set up properly are probably more efficient than many disc set ups. A drum brake will always be more efficient than a disc,, except for its ability to rid itself of heat. Alloy finned drum and a car around a ton should excellent. Though getting decent brake material that work cold and will take decent heat is quite expensive. There is some kevlar stuff that many historic racers use, at least on the rear that is excellent. The old segmented metallic material is very good as well though the wear rate is high.

I use 42-48 hubs that came with the drum behind the flange. Takes a minor amount of machining on the drum for clearance. The Ford hubs can be drilled to any 5 bolt pattern and the drums drilled to match. The holes in the drums are tapped 1/2-fine and you can use fully threaded cap bolts as lugs. You also need a 1/8" circular plate (like a big washer) drilled with the desired bolt pattern. The drums mount to the back side of the hub flange. The bolts go through the big washer and then the drums and then threaded through the hub flange. Once you are satisfied with the fit and everything is snugged up tight the bolts should be spot welded to the big washer..

Speedy Bill drove a deuce with Buick finned drums back around 1980. He was a gentleman with impeccable taste.

The early Ford pattern is 5 on 5.5, not 5 on 5. The Buick is already 5 on 5.

I plan on running these brakes on my '30 ford coupe. I'm running a ford big block. With the extra weight, hp and torque, do you feel these brakes ran in the front would be sufficient? Thanks

How much do you have to machine the raised edge down?

I have the same brake drums I would like to put on my 28 model A. Do you have a part number for hubs and bearing that will fit my original spindle?
