@@geezermann7865 Thanks for the reply and this area sure looks like a GREAT place to see trains. Former friends of mine live in Canton, MO. and I visited them several times there until I stopped hearing from them. Anyhow, yes, I always notice the Amish and Mennonites at the train station and have seen them on their wagons on the nearby road. There is that place there called The Depot Hotel (name right?) where you can stay overnight and see the passing trains. On my bucket list, for sure! I like the personnel and locals at the train station on the UA-cam videos, esp. that BIG guy with the sense of humor. Sure would like to meet them when I get there someday. I currently live in Albuquerque but am originally from San Jose, CA. I have a lot of friends in Kansas and others in MN. and Iowa. Has La Plata been hit with any major tornadoes and blizzards? (I am also a BIG weather fan along with being a train fan.) Cheers from the 'Land of Enchantment!!'
And it heads off into the sunset. Nicely done, very smooth. The second half was what I have heard called a "J B Hunt Express", with a few Amazon thrown in. I came here from a suggestion from a viewer on the La Plata VRF cam today. You must be the guy standing by the pickup truck in the parking lot. Great vid, thanks.
Looked like the first segment was a regular intermodal "S"tacker with maritime containers (20, 40, and 45-foot containers). Second segment was a "Q" train, guaranteed-service intermodal, with 53' domestic containers. BNSF will split them further west and have the four mid-DPUs become the head-end for the second section. (One reason: really long trains don't fit easily into yards.)
Follow this line to NE of Bucklin MO there's a cool old wooden bridge whose support structure is made from really old rail that spans it on a gravel road. It's secluded and out of the way, but by far the best place to catch trains on this line hauling butt. I grew up in the area. Was a good place to go kick back some beers with friends or take a gal and watch the trains at night. Seen some loooong ones heading S with empty cars late at night. A friends dad was a engineer on that run they lived and farmed in that area.
@@wheelslip I have a cousin who is really into railroads from Cuyahoga Falls OH. They have some wooden trestles we would climb up and wait for the steam engines to come rolling through on dinner trips. He thought the structure and how they built it should be documented when he saw it. It's been 5-6 yrs since I've been down there and I assume it hasn't been replaced or removed. I know the RR wasn't too keen on replacing it, they wanted it removed or left like it was and re-decked occasionally.
Campbell, two questions, where did you get the music? it is a good fit for the subject, secondly - what model is the drone? Excellent video of the Intermodal. Thanks, Ken
I do to, the other one there I shot had the train sound. I record the sound with my phone and while I was recording I got a phone call so I didn't have a choice. So from now on I put it in airplane mode.
I have watched the web cam here but never seen the area from the air. Nice post and it is a long train.
Metu'
Mark, I was thinking the same thing. What a LOVELY area. I have traveled in Missouri but have never been in La Plata.
me too, interesting
@@DougCeleste South of Kirksville, small town. There is a large population of Amish and Mennonites in the area. Very nice place to live.

If you're in a hurry to get somewhere, this is the train that you're waiting for.
Cool shot, almost has a kind of tilt-shift look to it.

Very Nice !!!!
Wonderful perspective. Nice job!!
You get a totally different view from a drone.. remarkable!
Nice job Campbell, I was sitting in the La Plata station the afternoon you shot this, we saw your drone flying over.
Oh yes sir I do remember you there. It was good to meet you and thank you for the complements.
"By the time that caboose cleared, it was the middle of next week."
What caboose???

I'll have to keep that in mind. Thanks for the comment.

That was a long, long train. And it didn't even have any helpers at the tailend.
A good video and I liked the music aswell. What was the music called and done by?
Thanks everyone for the comments. Please help by subscribing to my channel.
I counted 8 engines and 243 cars....HOOLYYY CRAP!
At least ore person can count and is not lazy.
Very cool video. Is there a tower or elevated platform across from the station to film from?
No it was filmed from a drone
Nice special made video 👍

The music is just standard music from my editing program. I use the DJI Mavic Air 2
@@wheelslip How does the Air 2 compare to the new Mini 2? I'm sure everyone prefers the Air anyways, I have the Mini and i really like it!

@@mariomgarci2652 Yes, I think I saw that while I was watching the live cam. Thanks for the time stamp.
Great video, but I hate background music in train videos. It distracts from the overall quality of the video.
