We just got ours yesterday and I'd love a full hour long lesson or video on a first engrave. We are 3d printing people so it's not completely foreign but its definitely a new experience.
10 w vs 20 watt for cutting do ytou really need more then 8mm to make cool boxes and chests like you made what mm was the basswood you used sorry I didn;t catch it in MM I was looking for wood on amazon Canada anbd didn;t really see any oivewr 6 mm?
Different people do different things with their lasers. I have cut up to 20 mm hardwoods with my lasers. You can make a lot of cool things using 2-3mm wood. I use a lot of 6mm underlayment for Home Depot. I can get a 4'x8' sheet for $20. The thing with a more powerful machine is that you can run faster. When making a lot of intricate cuts, even a small project can take a long time.
I have had a 20W Elegoo for a few days now, and it is my first machine. So far I am using the Laser GRBL software. The engraving is perfect, but with the cutting I have 2 problems. The strangest one is that the laser does not complete some cuts in the path, it does not finish a circle or a line. I think it is not an assembly problem, because the engraving is perfect, it is more so when it makes the second pass for cutting, the same error occurs, if the motor steps were lost, they would not be in exactly the same place. The other problem is when exporting a file from Corel as .sgv, and opening it from LaserGRBL, some that are paths, the software puts them as cutting. If someone could help me it would be wonderful. Thank you and your video is very good. Greetings
That sound like a software problem with the lines not being connected. Know that they have raised the price for lightburn it is not as easy to tell people to just use it. I do not have any experience with lasr grbl but I need to check it out so I can help people with it. Zoom in on the file where you are having to problems and make sure it is a complete line.
I always cut at 100% power. Different thickness plywood will be different speeds. Even the same thickness and species will be different depending on the glue. I have switched to mm/s. I will run material tests starting around 5 mm/s. If it cuts smooth in one pass, I will go down, but that is normally a good starting point.
Brittany . this laser works with "sining light ",it has extra "strenth" ,and thanks to "kingness" of Elegoo company NOW you can have this "extraodinary " piece of equipment
That one went in the trash. My wife had bet me how long it would take for someone to point out the misspelling. I was just showing how well the laser worked.
I really liked the Longer. However, this is a 20w. I would take a 20w over a 10w. Both work great. It would depend on the package as to the one I would pick.
Hello. Do you know wich free software for mac can I use? At moment lightburn is so expensive and I want to look for a cheapest one or better free one. Thanks.
Lightburn has been the standard in laser software. It has just almost doubled in price. It is still great, but I hate recommending it because of the price. Laser GRBL is free. It and light burn are the two main programs. I have not used it, but as popular as it is, I would expect it to work. Light burn gives a 30 day trail so you can use the 2 programs and see if it is worth the price to you.
@@ShopRamblings I'm confused. The description mentions the 10w laser and other comments seem to say this is the 10w, but you said it's the 20w laser here.
I get materials from several different sources. The little bamboo boards came from the Dollar Tree. The slates I got from Amazon. I get plywood from Home Depot, Amazon, and Imeca. What type of material are you looking for? Let me know, and I will send you some links.
@@ShopRamblings other things work perfectly but wireless do not in linux. if anyone asks. overall i bought the machine with your advice and i am more than happy.
In my experience getting realistic portraits is more about how you process the image and your setting. I believe you should be able to as you can see on the coasters I was able to get close to the photo I was using. It needed a little more adjustment but I ran out of time.

I was 3d printing first. It is an easy transition.
The artwork looks amazing!
Thanks.
I have the 10 w what safety glasses would you recommend please
I don't know if they are the best, but these are the ones I bought. amzn.to/3WaMCw6

Can you tell me what values you used to cut plywood? How much power % and how many mm/min? I also have the 20watt version

Could you do a video of setting up the home for the laser head and how to center your material and where it starts the burn, i am using lightburn
I haven't responded to your comment so I wouldn't forget it. I have been try to make this video for you. It just hasn't worked out. Sorry.

🤣 I saw that too

What settings did you use for stainless? I cannot get my 10W Phecda to mark stainless at all, even at 100% power and 1.5 mm/s :/
I would have thought that should be good. Are you using lightburn? I would run some material test.
Hi, any thoughts between this one and the Longer Ray5 10w? They look similar on paper. Thanks!

Sorry, never used a mac and don't know.
Hello! What parameters did you use to cut the birch wood?
Sorry I did not respond earlier. I was going to try and find the file and see if I could get the settings. I was unable to find them.
Just ordered a 20W, what program do you recommend to use with it?

I didn't expect this from the 10w model, wondering what the 20w model is like if the 10w is this capable
It should be good.
Does it cut acrylic or vinyl records?
I haven't tried vinyl. It will cut black acrylic but not clear.
Was this video done with the 20w or the 10w laser?
20w I guess, because I saw he laser the metal😁
Yes, 20w
Que modelo es su laser 10w o 20w?
20 watt

I don't think so.
Can you burn realistic portraits like with Pyroprinter?

@@ShopRamblings well, i was thinking more on the A4, A3 sizes for the portraits on plywood
Hello, can the 10w model cut 4/5 mm plywood, MDF, etc.?
I have cut birch plywood with it. I don't use mdf.
