    Nice to see someone likes this one as much as I do. I found this one on sale at my local whisky store and never heard of it so I bought one. I was so impressed by this whisky at such a reasonable cost I went back and bought two more. Thanks Alan for another expressive review!

    Absolutely agree with you, this is one of my bar staple malts. It is incredible value for money, a complex 14year old, I love the mouth feel. What I find is a few drops of water and then enjoy slowly over an hour, it will change dramatically over time and really is a reference malt for demonstrating how a whisky can change with time in the glass. Keep up the good work, I love your reviews and would be interested to know what you think of the Glenlivet 12 illicit still, which is non chill filtered and 46 abv, I am enjoying it, so nice to see an integrity version. Also I am enjoying the new integrity release of the Royal Brackla 12, Sherry cask , non chill filtered and natural colour at 46%, it really is a mouthful of chocolate cherries, perhaps a bit too sweet but an absolute Sherry monster.

    Love this stuff. Superbly balanced and super complex. That Amazon Prime day price really was one of the best bargains there has been for a long time.

    A beautiful and classic dram! I just picked up 2 bottles of the 2006 Clynelish 14 yo CS by Gordon & Macphail that are fantastic. And I have several older CS Clynelish indies by Chieftain, Cadenhead, and Signatory bottling’s that are also off the charts! One of the great distilleries!

    I got the GoT Clynelish and I really liked that so wanted to try the 14. When I seen it for £33.75 I bought 5!

    Alan, spot on my friend!!! What is interesting is that even though there is no mention of NCF a few drops of water clouds up Clyn 14! Love it! Wonderful dram but a newbie to Whisky may not appreciate the subtle complexity of this Scotch! (Great review as always!) ps, have you tried the new very dark Glenallachie 12? Wonderful! Neal

    • @thewhiskyfriend
      @thewhiskyfriend  3 роки тому +1

      yes Neal I have tried them side by side the old 12 v the darker 12...just go to my earlier videos and youll find it fella...awesome stuff...this clynelish is fantastic...cheers buddy...

      Alan, Watched your comparison of the old and new Glenallachie 12. After finishing our first bottle we found as with all Glenallachies the second half is exquisite. We quickly bought two more and both were dated Feb 21. Even darker than the 20 edition! Both were amazing! Must be older than just 12. I find they both drink older than the original 12. Billy Walker was know to do that as we all know. Easily one of my favorite 12’s. After going thru both the old and the new, I prefer the new. It developed complexity as the bottle went down! (BTW my son loves the coin set we purchased! Thank you!) Have a great weekend!

    One of my definite favorites that always deserves a spare bottle. I have to cross state lines to find it, but thankfully it is not too dear at around $60. Enjoyed your review, as always.

    I like lighter peated whiskies like caol ila, talisker, and Bunnahabhain so I've been eying this one for a while. Definitely seems like it's worth a try.

    Was that pour watered down? If not, that's huge! :) But agree with this review 100%. "Potpourri" nose is absolutely spot on! I like the mouthfeel too. IMHO, it should be a staple in your collection if you are seriously into whisky appreciation.

    Interesting review Alan. Picked up a bottle of this recently and was hugely disappointed, the hallmark wax and citrus notes were non existent. It does benefit from time in the glass and bottle but overall a very easy pass for me, Kilkerran 12 is a similar price and a vastly superior product.

    • @flyinstructor1

      Did you give it some time in the glass to open up? A few drops of water and an hour wait makes a dramatic difference. I also find with Clynelish that there are times I really do not enjoy the dram and other times I love it, I think it is malt which is sensitive to small changes in someone’s palate. I had surgery and general anaesthetic, couldn’t enjoy Clynelish for about 3 months after, luckily enjoying again.

    • @thewhiskyfriend
      @thewhiskyfriend  3 роки тому +1

      you are absolutely correct my friend, i did give it about an hour covered up, did not put any water in, if you watch my first review of it 2 years ago (review number 17) thats exactly how I found it ...everchanging whisky...awesome thanks for dropping in fella...cheers Alan

    • @langtoun8235

      @@flyinstructor1 Yes, you’re right it does improve with time in the glass, the tired casks are a bit less intrusive . Clynelish is in my top 3 distilleries so I have tried many but funnily enough hadn’t tried the 14 for some time until recently purchasing a bottle and couldn’t believe how bad it was, once it’s finished it won’t be replaced, even at Alan’s bargain purchase price of £33!
