How Teddyboy Greg found his Russia
Thirty-five-year-old Teddyboy Greg might be the most eccentric American entrepreneur in Moscow. Having moved to Russia at the end of last year because of “acute political differences with the US establishment,” he opened his barbershop here. Every inch of his body is covered with tattoos representing what is important to him (mostly women and rock ’n’ roll stars). Only his right leg is free of art - for now. Teddyboy has left this body part out so as to dedicate it to his new homeland, Russia.
Teddy's Rock 'n' Roll Barbershop offers as strong a contrast to the nearby business district as its owner. On the left is a pharmacy, on the right a repair shop. In between is an open door, from which the sounds of rock 'n' roll flow out nonstop. Passers-by pause to watch the exotic-looking barber working his magic on a customer's head through the large windows. (Teddyboy works alone: he found local barbers unsatisfactory, and it takes a lot of time to train an apprentice.) Some come in to take a selfie with Teddyboy or visit the barbershop like a museum. The walls are covered with posters of American cult musicians from the 1950s. Russian motifs are represented aw well: among the rock stars, pictures of Vladimir Putin and Nikolai II are particularly striking.

I remember along time ago maybe 6 years ago he posted a vid when he first visited Russia. I knew then he fell in love with it and I can see why he moved there. I know some U.S. Americans that have moved to Japan and love it there better than the U.S.

I recently found out about him. What's his deal? A lot of people state he's a racist but he's got a huge protrait of Little Richard on his back. He refers rap/hip hop as watermelon/jungle music yet plays nothing but doowop in his shop from popular black bands. He attended a barber college in East L.A. Hey, if he’s happy to be there, let him be. The truth is that the US was formed with the idea that if you don’t like your government, you’re free to leave/abolish it. He’s doing exactly that. I may disagree with this man in many ways (I haven’t spoken to him or anything), but it’s his life. Let him live it.

I met Teddy Boy Greg personally years ago. My friend in LA was kind of a fringe dude, and tracked Teddy Boy down. I got a haircut from him and hung out with him in circa 2010-2012.
It's always so funny to me how Teddy Boy talks shit on freeloaders and immigrants. This dude lived off of section 8 housing, collected welfare, EBT, the works, the entire time he lived in Los Angeles. He scammed the government like crazy and barely seemed to work. I live in Russia, St.Petersburg, and I want to go to Moscow sometime soon and see this guy, get a haircut and have a nice chat. He's very intelligent actually. I can see the comments here... You all know what kind of. But don't judge a book based on it's cover. I am born and raised Russian and I've been living here all my life. When shit's starting to boil on TV I know that to know more I need to look from different angles and check the source material. Try it yourself everyone, don't let the "big ones" fool you. In Russia, like in every other country, to have a nice car or big house you need to work A LOT. But we have free medicine and education and cheap quality food FOR ALL. There are negative things but not as many as American media or European media say and write. Look closer, people. Everything any CIVIL human NEEDS we have here in Russia. But if you want extras you have to WORK HARD. I think it's fair enough.
