A few thoughts about a few of the songs::1. Byker Hill: Out of curiosity, I looked up the tunes mentioned ("Elsie Marley" and "Bonny Lass of Byker Hill"). The first got lots of hits on UA-cam; The second only came back to this song. So I still don't know what song the anonymous Collier lad wanted to pay the piper to play. 2. As for the question of what "Woodpile" refers to, my own idea is that it's a derogatory/affectionate nickname for the ship (in the same way that an old, beat-up car can be called "a bucket of bolts"). 3. Gloucester Wassail is one of my favorite Christmas/New Year's songs, so I'm glad its now in your rotation.
We need a recorded version of The Gloucester Wassail asap ! 🙌🏻 I also hope for Star of the County Down, i can't find a version that pleases me beside the Black Flag one
regarding the album related tour announcement in the live stream: For sure I'm not the only one hoping for some live shots of the shows accompanied by Sean... his shanty of the week series was great and so was your first collaboration. Would be a treat ...
So much good stuff The missing "for trade" is still kind of funny. It makes sense that it's easier to remember that someone needs to take over Dave's verses, than these little phrases that you'd just take for granted that they'll happen somehow.

How would you like to introduce these songs to the sailing community? I'd recommend singing many of them on a sailing ship, Liberty, right now in Florida. Sailing Liberty to be exact. I just have a feeling you are near Florida ? What a great video that would be, a party on a Sailing ship !

I missed the livestream (on my daughter's birthday) but I'll be using it to make light of some card-writing and wrapping tomorrow. I couldn't wait to watch the Just-the-Songs, though, with so many of my favourites listed (on the full session'scomments thread.Have I got something to put on my Christmas list a couple of people ask me to offer up each year? YT just told me my nearest event of yours - one is much easier to get to, but both impossible to get back from - and I'm left wondering how it knew. I block all cookies. Creepy. You're all in great voice. This might be my favourite session yet.
Aw that northwest verse with JD and Andy started so beautifully. It's a shame it lapses into an exaggerated parody-like scoop/yodel thingy towards the end. I'm loving Byker Hill though! Even if the title keeps making me think of Byker Grove, this old British TV series about drug addicted Newcastle teenagers :P
