It keeps coloring everything including the words when I click to color the background of the rectangle. Am I doing something wrong?

You did great on the video but is it me or does gimp make such a simple project so complicated? This is why I favor paid programs. I want to like gimp but they seriously need to simplify the processes.

It doesn't seem complicated to me.

@@zitternden Good for you. If someone does not know the necessary do this or do that to accomplish a task then it appears more complex then it needs to be.

@@nature_guy This is why I like Mike Davies' videos, because he walks through the process step by step, explaining as he goes.

@@zitternden I realize that my complaint is more about the way gimp is designed. Nothing is intuitive and logical.

If I wasn't explaining each step I could make it in 5 seconds in GIMP

@@DaviesMediaDesign I love the step by step explanation! That's why I learn so much. Sometimes it's the one little thing you miss that screws the whole thing up.

@@DaviesMediaDesign ... and because you care your "loyal" subscribers are the big winners here. Explaining the "different paths" to the operations is the icing on the cake for us newbies.
