All that is so manufactured! We get wages, we spend them. Everything keeps costing more, so we buy less. Full stop.

Christmas is over commercialised anyway. Spending time with the family is what's important.

Haven’t bought anyone a Christmas present in 20 years and never want them unless it’s a concert ticket.

Concert? Never been to a concert my entire life. I think i once bought a ticket to the wiggles for my kids...maybe ten years ago. For the rest can't be bothered 😂

I hate xmas it just forces everyone to spend money. Only things that matters is a big meal and spending time with family. You don’t need to spend or buy presents.

Waiting for the price of NZ dairy to drop.
Watties just did Shrinkflation, while charging higher price.

Last quarter looks recessionary still (certainly GDP per Capita if not Nominal) as Consumer spending shows minuscule real growth at best, once you factor out inflation.
What’s really driving this is job insecurity, far more so than interest rates which are on the way down anyway.
The Government’s sacking of thousands of public employees along with cuts in infrastructure spending, has flowed on directly into the private sector.
This came back to bite the Government with tax revenues being down $13B on forecast.

Are we spending more and getting less, though? Or most likely spending is up, but for the same.

Everyone is getting gifts from Temu from me this year. It's been the most toughest year in finances ever for me and others I know. I speak from experience. No christmas ham or turkey either..first time ever. Even Strawberries/cream and pav is off the list.

@@MsBlueRyans ? i distinctly remember christmas (of the nineties) being a time of abundance* instead a time of frugality and thriftyness.

@@SiliconBong ..yes. the dark powers that be love to invert the real meanings of anything these days. This has all been done by design. You will own nothing and be happy programming. Unfortunately, I cannot be programmed with the masses. I am the last of the mohicans and will not forget how crazy everyone responded in the last few years. Hope you and yours have Merry Christmas. it may be the last for many, sadly.

0:40 Consumer confidence of graph looks slightly above GFC hole... But good time to buy a major household item? Guess our definitions of "Good" and "Major" are evolving.

If you increase cost without increasing supply. People will stop buying means whole nation will be in deep recession. When country in deep recession, people will move out to find better ppace
