    Does the surface you're working on matter? Do you have something under the glass that "gives" a little when you're pushing along the score line?

    I was looking for a video to cut a circle within a circle but you gave me an idea ... I'll try it... if I remember I'll let ya know how I did 😁

    great video! Pity I didn't find your video before I cracked the first one a little! Just. a question when I go round my scores with my thumb afterwards it doesn't really do much. Does that mean I'm not applying enough pressure?

    • @perthartglass
      @perthartglass  Місяць тому

      I’m sorry to hear about the cracked piece - it happens to the best of us! It could be pressure or it could be that your score wasn't strong enough.

    I have this cutter but the suction cup doesn’t hold. It’s pretty new, do I need to get a new one or is there a secret to using it?

    • @perthartglass
      @perthartglass  Місяць тому

      You just need to press it down firmly and push the lever over. If it initially sticks and then slowly unsticks you may have a hole in the suction cup and it will need to be taken back to your supplier.

      or turpentine/kerosene. Very thin oil.
      It's not a nuclear bomb you're working on!!💥

    Do you know if this works on jewelry cases? And is it possible to make it quieter in case there is some sort of sound sensitive trigger?

    • @perthartglass
      @perthartglass  5 місяців тому +1

      It would depend on the jewellery case but it would likely be more difficult. The scoring and breaking sounds are necessary when cutting glass. If the tapping noises are triggering you could avoid tapping by pressing your thumbs down on the glass along the score line.

    Is it true that it's very hard to cut old or weathered glass?

    • @perthartglass
      @perthartglass  Рік тому +1

      Yes and no. The 'cuttability' of glass is dependent on the manufacturing process but processes that were used in the past are more likely to produce brittle glass which is why it may seem like it's due to age.

    Can a 50mm circle be cut (using the circular cutter) while the glass is still vertical?

    • @perthartglass
      @perthartglass  3 роки тому +1

      No, the minimum diameter the circle cutter can cut is approximately 80mm. You could cut the 80mm circle vertically using this technique.

  • @Nazuiko

    What if you wanted to remove a circle from the glass, without moving the glass panel? could you do that

    • @perthartglass
      @perthartglass  Рік тому

      If you mean from a window still in its frame, then no, that is not recommended. You will not be able to apply the pressure needed.

      @@perthartglass is there a circle cutter that instead of scores, cuts/grinds all the way through?

    • @perthartglass
      @perthartglass  Рік тому

      @@Analstrosen Tools such as bandsaws and drills work on glass if they have a diamond blade or bit and the cut is kept wet through the process.

    • @Analstrosen
      @Analstrosen Рік тому

      @@perthartglass I know of diamond blades/tips but the compass thing, is there a blade that can cut deeper than other ones?

    • @perthartglass

      @@Analstrosen No, glass cutters are just scoring the glass.
