Great video (kudos to the editor 😁) and congrats on your first Ultra Ronan 👏👏 the ultra was impressive but the Kerry accents were the pinnacle for me 😆😆😆
Congrats on completing your first ultra🎉 also thanks for sharing video with us. Would you mind give some tips for first time ultra runners?? I've done few road marathons and thinking of doing that next year. Im looking at the shoes and trying to figure out the route. Is there much asphalt on the track? Im looking at inov8 roclite or mudclaw shoes and not sure what/if any of these would be good for this race. I'll be grateful for reply 🙏 cheers. Patrycja
Thanks Patrycja, A few simple tips I would give would be - Trail running is much different to road racing, you're not really focused on the speed you are running at as there will be technical sections, big hills etc where you have no choice but to hike, so don't worry about the watch too much - Fueling is really important (lesson learnt the hard way), make sure you practice eating solid foods on practice runs, and have a plan in place for race day - eat even when you're not hungry - Try a few trail races throughout the year to get used to what it entails, IMRA (Irish Mountain Running Association) have loads of races all year round and they are very welcoming to everyone With the shoes I used the Hoka Speedgoat and found them great as there are a few short sections on the road but also sections that are a bit mucky, others have loose stones but most of it is on a dirt trail which is fairly compact under foot. Hope all that helped 😀
