Starting from chapter 1, Paul is marveled that people are turning away from the grace of Christ due to a teaching that perverts the gospel. What is that perversion? In chapter 2, Paul discusses the hypocrisy of Jews demanding Gentiles to live according to the laws of Jews; reminding them that we're justified not by works of the law, but by faith in Christ. Verses 16-21 explains this. We live in Christ by faith in Him and His finished work in the blood... "if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain." Chapter 3 continues, that whoever believes that his works justifies him or makes him right with God is bewitched. He calls them fools. The same chapter explains the purpose of the law, and goes into this that if you belong to Christ than you're an heir according to the promise. Given to who? Abraham. Abraham was right with God because he believed God, not because he followed the law.... Chapter 4 says if you know God how can you turn again to weak elements or teachings or ideologies? He says, do you desire bondage? Bondage to what? To the law. This is why chapter 5 talks of liberty by which Christ has made us free. He made us free to live in Him. It's NOT freedom to sin. Freedom to love, and not walk according to the flesh. How do we walk in the flesh? When we observe the our own efforts, and give strength to the law. This is why Paul says, walk in the Spirit in vs 16. If walking in the spirit meant observing the law, than what differentiates Christianity from other faiths? The Jews observe the law, so do Muslims. However, we're now free to live in Christ! Christ didn't spend time observing the law, rather His ministry was to reveal the heart of the Father. Even the religious leaders was so consumed with following the laws that they couldn't see Jesus as coming from the Father. This is the danger that we face when we teach that observing the law (600+ laws) brings salvation or proves that we belong to Him. Please understand that this book of Galatians is NOT an invitation to sin and live wildly fulfilling the desires of the sinful nature. It addresses our THINKING and our BELIEFS. We are FREE to walk by faith and in the Spirit, and the more you do that, you will not sin. Remember that the book of Galatians is written to believers in Christ.

Yes, Jesus came to fulfill the law in that He was innocent, not breaking the law, but also paid the penalty for sin. For example, the religious leaders HATED that Jesus ministered and delivered on the SABBATH, including not ceremonially washing their hands, or gleaning wheat to eat as they traveled. Was Jesus "breaking the laws?" According to the leaders and anyone who observed the law would say yes. HOWEVER, Jesus explains the law from Moses and shared multiple times that He does what He sees His Father do. He does the works of His Father (John 5, 9 & 10). It is IMPOSSIBLE for man to fulfill the works of the law (James 2:10) If you break 1, then you break all. Again, this is what Galatians is explaining - the works of the law. The scriptures you shared are examples of works of faith and Spirit. There's a difference. For example, there isn't a law that says, "thou shall sacrifice you son," or one that says, "thou shalt give the destitute food and clothing," These are works of the spirit, not the works of the law that the book of Galatians is addressing. Also the FRUIT of the spirit, is not WORKS of law. So, as you quoted, if I have faith, where are my works? What works? Not the works of law, but of the spirit. Cain and Abel? BEFORE the LAW (600+ laws that Paul is addressing in Galatians). Also, how do the scriptures define "condemned?" Cain recognized it as punishment and even a curse, not condemnation. Rahab? The prostitute? What "law" was she following? Romans 8 breaks it down beautifully - There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit... 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. again, in all of the scriptures you shared, they explained the works of the spirit, not the laws outlined in the OT starting with the 10 commandments. Wow that is very suspicious. And Cain was condemned by GOD for killing Abel. I wonder why Pastor YPJ lied about that. He obviously read the Genesis 4:11-15 because he quoted the part where GOD had mercy on him and said even though he cursed him he was going to put a mark on him so no one would kill him. To Kristie... Remember that this video is a snippet... also, it's important to read the whole book of Galatians to understand 5:1. Starting from chapter 1, Paul is marveled that people are turning away from the grace of Christ due to a teaching that perverts the gospel. What is that perversion? In chapter 2, Paul discusses the hypocrisy of Jews demanding Gentiles to live according to the laws of Jews; reminding them that we're justified not by works of the law, but by faith in Christ. Verses 16-21 explains this. We live in Christ by faith in Him and His finished work in the blood... "if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain." Chapter 3 continues, that whoever believes that his works justifies him or makes him right with God is bewitched. He calls them fools. The same chapter explains the purpose of the law, and goes into this that if you belong to Christ than you're an heir according to the promise. Given to who? Abraham. Abraham was right with God because he believed God, not because he followed the law.... Chapter 4 says if you know God how can you turn again to weak elements or teachings or ideologies? He says, do you desire bondage? Bondage to what? To the law. This is why chapter 5 talks of liberty by which Christ has made us free. He made us free to live in Him. It's NOT freedom to sin. Freedom to love, and not walk according to the flesh. How do we walk in the flesh? When we observe the our own efforts, and give strength to the law. This is why Paul says, walk in the Spirit in vs 16.
If walking in the spirit meant observing the law, than what differentiates Christianity from other faiths? The Jews observe the law, so do Muslims. However, we're now free to live in Christ! Christ didn't spend time observing the law, rather His ministry was to reveal the heart of the Father. Even the religious leaders was so consumed with following the laws that they couldn't see Jesus as coming from the Father. This is the danger that we face when we teach that observing the law (600+ laws) brings salvation or proves that we belong to Him. Please understand that this book of Galatians is NOT an invitation to sin and live wildly fulfilling the desires of the sinful nature. It addresses our THINKING and our BELIEFS. We are FREE to walk by faith and in the Spirit, and the more you do that, you will not sin.
Remember that the book of Galatians is written to believers in Christ.

@@candiceellenberger2635 Hi! Not sure how I missed this, but I've read the scriptures you shared. I'm not seeing any of these scriptures as examples of works of the law. Yes, Jesus came to fulfill the law in that He was innocent, not breaking the law, but also paid the penalty for sin. For example, the religious leaders HATED that Jesus ministered and delivered on the SABBATH, including not ceremonially washing their hands, or gleaning wheat to eat as they traveled. Was Jesus "breaking the laws?" According to the leaders and anyone who observed the law would say yes. HOWEVER, Jesus explains the law from Moses and shared multiple times that He does what He sees His Father do. He does the works of His Father (John 5, 9 & 10). It is IMPOSSIBLE for man to fulfill the works of the law (James 2:10) If you break 1, then you break all. Again, this is what Galatians is explaining - the works of the law.
The scriptures you shared are examples of works of faith and Spirit. There's a difference. For example, there isn't a law that says, "thou shall sacrifice you son," or one that says, "thou shalt give the destitute food and clothing," These are works of the spirit, not the works of the law that the book of Galatians is addressing. Also the FRUIT of the spirit, is not WORKS of law. So, as you quoted, if I have faith, where are my works? What works? Not the works of law, but of the spirit.
Cain and Abel? BEFORE the LAW (600+ laws that Paul is addressing in Galatians). Also, how do the scriptures define "condemned?" Cain recognized it as punishment and even a curse, not condemnation.
Rahab? The prostitute? What "law" was she following?
Romans 8 breaks it down beautifully - There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit...

again, in all of the scriptures you shared, they explained the works of the spirit, not the laws outlined in the OT starting with the 10 commandments.

Wow that is very suspicious. And Cain was condemned by GOD for killing Abel. I wonder why Pastor YPJ lied about that. He obviously read the Genesis 4:11-15 because he quoted the part where GOD had mercy on him and said even though he cursed him he was going to put a mark on him so no one would kill him.
