@@tthomas You’re right! Too few have stood on this from a Biblical standpoint. Now look at where we are in the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned. The world is upset and churches/leaders in the church are agreeing with them. Thank God for Pastor Jenkins and Bishop Wooden(Upper Room) and those that are speaking God’s truth! There are many more who need to speak up. We must not abandon God’s doctrine. This is our lifeline.
@@tthomas Sis, but the overturning was really about the fact the white people are becoming a minority. If you study the numbers, 60% of abortion are had by white women. so overturning Roe V Wade was not about protecting innocent life. It was about protecting white life and control. I am pro life but I'm not under some delusion that that's what it was about

I’m pregnant now and I just had a baby 6 months ago 😢but I trust god that everything will work out in Jesus name 🙌🏾 family and the world judge me so bad and I’m not gonna lie. It hurts and just the fact that I’m going to have a one-year-old and a newborn people call me crazy but I’m giving it to God. I trust this process. I know everything will work out for my good.

This is the most biblically sound teaching I’ve heard on abortion. Not only that…this pastor voiced what I’ve been thinking for a while concerning the progression of policies that legalize murder of the innocent. I was on the wrong side of this issue for so long. Thank you for sharing. God knows how this happened to you and yes He has forgiven you and you will meet your child in heaven. Be sure to have annual mammograms bc abortions, particularly before breastfeeding, increase a woman's chances of developing breast cancer and GYN cancers (endometrial cancer/cervical). Also be aware that many women experience a type of PTSD, sometimes years later. Don't be afraid to seek help for depression/anxiety. Consider helping other women who are being tricked & taken advantage of in the same way. So many ways you can help through pregnancy crisis centers, hotlines, etc. Helping others will also help you to heal. You are loved and precious to your creator. Never give up.

In the Book of Ezekiel God warns that Shepherds ( Pastors, Church Leaders, Prophets) who fail to teach God's Word to His people will be held accountable. I remember when I was in high school and I supported abortion because I thought it was advantageous, and I was a Christian. But Jesus changed my heart and my mind. Thank you God.
I am a Christian and i believe abortion is a moral issue..between that personand God. We don't have the right to judge anyone because we don't know their circumstances. Abortion shouldn't e used as a means of contraceptive. However, if there is incest, rape or the mothers life is at risk, then allowance should be made for termination of the pregnancy if that's what the woman wants. I can't imagine a 10, 12 , 15 etc being forced to have a baby if they were raped.

I am a Christian and I am Pro-Choice which means that I believe that the decision to have an abortion is a decision that a woman must make with the consultation of her family and/or her physician. If she is a Christian woman, she will include God in that decision. I would not force my personal beliefs on anyone. That is why there is separation of State and Church. The Bible is completely silent on the issue of abortion and there are no scriptures that one can properly extrapolate that abortion is murder or even that it should ever or always be considered a sin. I believe it is a very bold statement to make that one knows God’s Heart in every situation where a women or teenager has to make the decision whether to have an abortion. I never had to face this difficult decision as a woman but I certainly do not judge those who have had to face this decision-only God can judge them; no one else. Nevertheless, I want to focus on a couple of specific points made by Pastor Jenkins. It is Pastor Jenkins opinion and his interpretation of the verses that he read in the Bible that life begins when there blood flowing. None of the verses that he cited were meant to address the issue of when does human life begin, particularly in connection with the concept of abortion. I find it interesting that the majority of the scripture cited by Pastor Jenkins was found in the Old Testament. There was only one scripture that I recall in the New Testament. The fact that the Old Testament was cited means that the scripture was directed to the Israelites and includes Mosaic/Jewish law. Research for yourself, but there is nothing in the Jewish Law or customs that suggest that life begins with the flowing of blood. Therefore, to suggest that any scripture in the Old Testament supports the position that life begins where there is blood flowing is misleading and false. Indeed, the Talmad (Jewish scripture) does not give full status of humanness to a child until birth. The Babylonian Talmud Yevamot 69b states that: “the embryo is considered to be mere water until the fortieth day.” Afterwards, it is considered subhuman until it is born. In the Torah (the Old Testament-first five books of the Bible), the first detailed description of the creation of a human being by God points to the moment when human life begins. “Yahweh God formed the man from the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living nefesh” (the first breath). In other words, life began for human being when God breathed breath into him (Genesis 2.7). Additional scriptures in the Torah demonstrate that breath is understood to be essential to life; and that when the breathing stops, life ends. “And all flesh that moved on the earth perished, birds, cattle, wild animals all swarming creatures that swarm upon the earth and all human beings. Everything which had the nishmat (breath) of life in its nostrils, all that were on dry land died” (Genesis 7.21-22). According to Jewish scripture, the fetus is regarded as a part of the mother's body and not as a separate being until it begins to egress from the womb during the birthing process, and attains the status of 'nefesh,' which means soul in Hebrew. In other words, under Jewish law and their scripture (which includes the Old Testament), the fetus only becomes a person after most of its body emerges from the birth canal. The Jeramiah 1 verse has nothing to do with the issue of when does a fetus become a human being; as Pastor Jenkins correctly pointed out, God was speaking directly to Jeremiah. It’s improper to reference that scripture for the subject of abortion. Bottom line, Pastor Jenkins cannot say that God says life begins with the flowing of blood….that is simply a false interpretation of scripture. The second point I’d like to address is Pastor Jenkins statement that abortion is wrong because it is the shedding of innocent blood. I found it very telling that Pastor Jenkins did not answer the question on the death penalty when raised by the member of the congregation. It was directly relevant to the sermon just as the issue of War and other instances in which lives are lost. With respect to the issue of innocent blood, God tested Abraham by telling him to sacrifice his son, Isaac on Moriah. We know that Abraham begins to comply with this order from God when a messenger from God intervenes and substitutes a ram in place. Yet God did not send a messenger to spare the life of Jephthah's daughter when he offered her as a burnt sacrifice to God for bringing him victory against his enemies: Judges 11:30 through 40:" 30 And Jephthah made a vow to the LORD: “If you give the Ammonites into my hands, 31 whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be the LORD’s, and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering.”32 Then Jephthah went over to fight the Ammonites, and the LORD gave them into his hands. 33 He devastated twenty towns from Aroer to the vicinity of Minnith, as far as Abel Keramim. Thus Israel subdued Ammon. 34 When Jephthah returned to his home in Mizpah, who should come out to meet him but his daughter, dancing to the sound of timbrels! She was an only child. Except for her he had neither son nor daughter. 35 When he saw her, he tore his clothes and cried, “Oh no, my daughter! You have brought me down and I am devastated. I have made a vow to the LORD that I cannot break.”36 “My father,” she replied, “you have given your word to the LORD. Do to me just as you promised, now that the LORD has avenged you of your enemies, the Ammonites. 37 But grant me this one request,” she said. “Give me two months to roam the hills and weep with my friends, because I will never marry.”38 “You may go,” he said. And he let her go for two months. She and her friends went into the hills and wept because she would never marry. 39 After the two months, she returned to her father, and he did to her as he had vowed. And she was a virgin. From this comes the Israelite tradition 40 that each year the young women of Israel go out for four days to commemorate the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite.” Here, God allowed and accepted this sacrifice of a child to be made to Him. This is Biblical fact. Why God would allow Jephthah to sacrifice his daughter, my mind cannot comprehend but only God knows and it is not for us to know. In another set of scriptures, the Israelites shed innocent blood. Why the Israelites would want to dash the heads of infants against the rocks to revenge their enemies (Babylonians) , I do not know but we read Psalm 137:8-9 as follows: Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction, happy is the one who repays you according to what you have done to us. Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks." Again, this is an example of the shedding of innocent blood that God allowed and did not condemn. We also know that God allowed the first born of all Israelites to die in the book of Exodus. So, I share these passages to say that I don’t know why babies die or God allows them to die; I don’t know why women miscarriage or babies are not born to full term; I don’t know why a young 10 year old girl was raped or babies will die with significant birth defects or die within hours of their birth (like recently in Louisiana). Only God knows; only God can convict a person with the Holy Spirit to make a particular decision. Everyone is not a Christian. Indeed, in other countries, some women were forced to have abortions (i.e. China). Surely, one cannot say that this is murder. The one thing I can be rest assured, is that all of these souls that are lost are in the presence of God just like Jepthah’s daughter.
I am not ashamed that my mother and a married man made me because when i was just 3 years old God blessed my mother with a wonderful husband and me a awesome DAD i never saw him as my stepfather i thank God for how he used 1 to make me and #1 to raise me my parents were saved and have went on to be with the lord and i will always praise God for the life he gave me thank you lord for giving Pastor Jenkins such a timely message as this GLORY to your name JESUS.

I am watching this in 2022 - when the topic of abortion/same-sex marriage has taken a front seat to all of our lives. Pastor Jenkins Sr did an EXCELLENT job at laying this down from the Word of God line upon line. It was not his 'opinion' that came to the forefront on the issue, but it was, 'This is what the Word of God says and this is how God feels about it'. This has got to be every Believer's stance - no matter what...and I can assure you - the 'no matter whats' are going to come! *Choose ye this day Whom you will serve and truly serve Him'....
I am a Christian and I am Pro-Choice which means that I believe that the decision to have an abortion is a decision that a woman must make with the consultation of her family and/or her physician. If she is a Christian woman, she will include God in that decision. I would not force my personal beliefs on anyone. That is why there is separation of State and Church. The Bible is completely silent on the issue of abortion and there are no scriptures that one can properly extrapolate that abortion is murder or even that it should ever or always be considered a sin. I believe it is a very bold statement to make that one knows God’s Heart in every situation where a women or teenager has to make the decision whether to have an abortion. I never had to face this difficult decision as a woman but I certainly do not judge those who have had to face this decision-only God can judge them; no one else. Nevertheless, I want to focus on a couple of specific points made by Pastor Jenkins. It is Pastor Jenkins opinion and his interpretation of the verses that he read in the Bible that life begins when there blood flowing. None of the verses that he cited were meant to address the issue of when does human life begin, particularly in connection with the concept of abortion. I find it interesting that the majority of the scripture cited by Pastor Jenkins was found in the Old Testament. There was only one scripture that I recall in the New Testament. The fact that the Old Testament was cited means that the scripture was directed to the Israelites and includes Mosaic/Jewish law. Research for yourself, but there is nothing in the Jewish Law or customs that suggest that life begins with the flowing of blood. Therefore, to suggest that any scripture in the Old Testament supports the position that life begins where there is blood flowing is misleading and false. Indeed, the Talmad (Jewish scripture) does not give full status of humanness to a child until birth. The Babylonian Talmud Yevamot 69b states that: “the embryo is considered to be mere water until the fortieth day.” Afterwards, it is considered subhuman until it is born. In the Torah (the Old Testament-first five books of the Bible), the first detailed description of the creation of a human being by God points to the moment when human life begins. “Yahweh God formed the man from the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living nefesh” (the first breath). In other words, life began for human being when God breathed breath into him (Genesis 2.7). Additional scriptures in the Torah demonstrate that breath is understood to be essential to life; and that when the breathing stops, life ends. “And all flesh that moved on the earth perished, birds, cattle, wild animals all swarming creatures that swarm upon the earth and all human beings. Everything which had the nishmat (breath) of life in its nostrils, all that were on dry land died” (Genesis 7.21-22). According to Jewish scripture, the fetus is regarded as a part of the mother's body and not as a separate being until it begins to egress from the womb during the birthing process, and attains the status of 'nefesh,' which means soul in Hebrew. In other words, under Jewish law and their scripture (which includes the Old Testament), the fetus only becomes a person after most of its body emerges from the birth canal. The Jeramiah 1 verse has nothing to do with the issue of when does a fetus become a human being; as Pastor Jenkins correctly pointed out, God was speaking directly to Jeremiah. It’s improper to reference that scripture for the subject of abortion. Bottom line, Pastor Jenkins cannot say that God says life begins with the flowing of blood….that is simply a false interpretation of scripture. The second point I’d like to address is Pastor Jenkins statement that abortion is wrong because it is the shedding of innocent blood. I found it very telling that Pastor Jenkins did not answer the question on the death penalty when raised by the member of the congregation. It was directly relevant to the sermon just as the issue of War and other instances in which lives are lost. With respect to the issue of innocent blood, God tested Abraham by telling him to sacrifice his son, Isaac on Moriah. We know that Abraham begins to comply with this order from God when a messenger from God intervenes and substitutes a ram in place. Yet God did not send a messenger to spare the life of Jephthah's daughter when he offered her as a burnt sacrifice to God for bringing him victory against his enemies: Judges 11:30 through 40:" 30 And Jephthah made a vow to the LORD: “If you give the Ammonites into my hands, 31 whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be the LORD’s, and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering.”32 Then Jephthah went over to fight the Ammonites, and the LORD gave them into his hands. 33 He devastated twenty towns from Aroer to the vicinity of Minnith, as far as Abel Keramim. Thus Israel subdued Ammon. 34 When Jephthah returned to his home in Mizpah, who should come out to meet him but his daughter, dancing to the sound of timbrels! She was an only child. Except for her he had neither son nor daughter. 35 When he saw her, he tore his clothes and cried, “Oh no, my daughter! You have brought me down and I am devastated. I have made a vow to the LORD that I cannot break.”36 “My father,” she replied, “you have given your word to the LORD. Do to me just as you promised, now that the LORD has avenged you of your enemies, the Ammonites. 37 But grant me this one request,” she said. “Give me two months to roam the hills and weep with my friends, because I will never marry.”38 “You may go,” he said. This is Biblical fact. Why God would allow Jephthah to sacrifice his daughter, my mind cannot comprehend but only God knows and it is not for us to know. In another set of scriptures, the Israelites shed innocent blood. Why the Israelites would want to dash the heads of infants against the rocks to revenge their enemies (Babylonians) , I do not know but we read Psalm 137:8-9 as follows: Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction, happy is the one who repays you according to what you have done to us. Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks." Again, this is an example of the shedding of innocent blood that God allowed and did not condemn. We also know that God allowed the first born of all Israelites to die in the book of Exodus. So, I share these passages to say that I don’t know why babies die or God allows them to die; I don’t know why women miscarriage or babies are not born to full term; I don’t know why a young 10 year old girl was raped or babies will die with significant birth defects or die within hours of their birth (like recently in Louisiana). Only God knows; only God can convict a person with the Holy Spirit to make a particular decision. Everyone is not a Christian. Indeed, in other countries, some women were forced to have abortions (i.e. China). Surely, one cannot say that this is murder. The one thing I can be rest assured, is that all of these souls that are lost are in the presence of God just like Jepthah’s daughter.

When I fell pregnant at 18 I decided to take a "morning after pill". The morning after pill did not work, I am so glad it didn't work and God had my back like that. God is so amazing He already KNEW I had no idea what I was doing and that I was just a terrified teenager. The moment I found out I was pregnant even after taking that pill, I knew this baby was ment to live so I just let it be. I gave birth to him and he was rushed to NICU because he couldn't breath by himself. My little ninja STILL fought to live and eventually got out of NICU. That's when I knew his life had a purpose. This little baby escaped death TWICE and WON both times. My son is turning 5 this May and I am so happy to have him. His life has a bigger purpose. I know.
As a child of God I and all of us are Sinners and fall short of Gods Glory but with Repentance Obedience Submitting Acceptance Redemption Belief Great Faith the Lord will forgive us. Personal testimony when I was in my twenties I decided to have an abortion. It weighed heavy on my heart throughout the years after getting married I conceived two beautiful boys and they were and are the most joyful blessing in my life. They are both adults now and I wouldn't trade being there mother for Nothing in the World. I am so thankful for the Lords Mercy and Grace towards me and my sons he is a loving God who's always Worthy To Be Praised 🤗🙏🤗🙏🤗

Abortion is such a hot button topic in the world and even in the church. I praise God for the way Pastor Jenkins broached this topic with loving kindness and compassionate wisdom, showing us the heart of God by walking us through the scriptures. I thank God for allowing my mother to give life to me. I thank God for my three children and my 13 grandchildren. What a blessing all of them are.

I found it very telling that Pastor Jenkins did not answer the question on the death penalty when raised by the member of the congregation. With respect to the issue of innocent blood, God tested Abraham by telling him to sacrifice his son, Isaac on Moriah. We know that Abraham begins to comply with this order from God when a messenger from God intervenes and substitutes a ram in place. Yet God did not send a messenger to spare the life of Jephthah's daughter when he offered her as a burnt sacrifice to God for bringing him victory against his enemies: Judges 11:30 through 40:" 30 And Jephthah made a vow to the LORD: “If you give the Ammonites into my hands, 31 whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be the LORD’s, and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering.”32 Then Jephthah went over to fight the Ammonites, and the LORD gave them into his hands. 33 He devastated twenty towns from Aroer to the vicinity of Minnith, as far as Abel Keramim. Why the Israelites would want to dash the heads of infants against the rocks to revenge their enemies (Babylonians) , I do not know but we read Psalm 137:8-9 as follows: Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction, happy is the one who repays you according to what you have done to us. Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks." Again, this is an example of the shedding of innocent blood that God allowed and did not condemn. We also know that God allowed the first born of all Israelites to die in the book of Exodus. So, I share these passages to say that I don’t know why babies die or God allows them to die; I don’t know why women miscarriage or babies are not born to full term; I don’t know why a young 10 year old girl was raped or babies will die with significant birth defects or die within hours of their birth (like recently in Louisiana). Only God knows; only God can convict a person with the Holy Spirit to make a particular decision. Everyone is not a Christian. Indeed, in other countries, some women were forced to have abortions (i.e. China). Surely, one cannot say that this is murder. The one thing I can be rest assured, is that all of these souls that are lost are in the presence of God just like Jepthah’s daughter.

The world is upset and churches/leaders in the church are agreeing with them. Thank God for Pastor Jenkins and Bishop Wooden(Upper Room) and those that are speaking God’s truth! If you study the numbers, 60% of abortion are had by white women. so overturning Roe V Wade was not about protecting innocent life. It was about protecting white life and control. I’m pregnant now and I just had a baby 6 months ago 😢but I trust god that everything will work out in Jesus name 🙌🏾 family and the world judge me so bad and I’m not gonna lie. It hurts and just the fact that I’m going to have a one-year-old and a newborn people call me crazy but I’m giving it to God. I trust this process. I know everything will work out for my good.

This is the most biblically sound teaching I’ve heard on abortion. Not only that…this pastor voiced what I’ve been thinking for a while concerning the progression of policies that legalize murder of the innocent. I was on the wrong side of this issue for so long. Thank you for sharing. God knows how this happened to you and yes He has forgiven you and you will meet your child in heaven. Be sure to have annual mammograms bc abortions, particularly before breastfeeding, increase a woman's chances of developing breast cancer and GYN cancers (endometrial cancer/cervical). Also be aware that many women experience a type of PTSD, sometimes years later. Don't be afraid to seek help for depression/anxiety.
Consider helping other women who are being tricked & taken advantage of in the same way. So many ways you can help through pregnancy crisis centers, hotlines, etc. Helping others will also help you to heal. You are loved and precious to your creator. Never give up.

In the Book of Ezekiel God warns that Shepherds ( Pastors, Church Leaders, Prophets) who fail to teach God's Word to His people will be held accountable. In the New Testament Jesus indicates that it would be better if one be cast into water with a millstone around his neck if he teaches His children falsehoods. Pastor Jenkins will be blessed for being brave enough to teach the truth with such grace and kindness, without watering down biblical teachings on this subject.

I remember when I was in high school and I supported abortion because I thought it was advantageous, and I was a Christian. But Jesus changed my heart and my mind. Thank you God.
I am a Christian and i believe abortion is a moral issue..between that personand God. We don't have the right to judge anyone because we don't know their circumstances. Abortion shouldn't e used as a means of contraceptive. However, if there is incest, rape or the mothers life is at risk, then allowance should be made for termination of the pregnancy if that's what the woman wants. I can't imagine a 10, 12 , 15 etc being forced to have a baby if they were raped.

you are absolutely right!
I am a Christian and I am Pro-Choice which means that I believe that the decision to have an abortion is a decision that a woman must make with the consultation of her family and/or her physician. If she is a Christian woman, she will include God in that decision. I would not force my personal beliefs on anyone. That is why there is separation of State and Church. The Bible is completely silent on the issue of abortion and there are no scriptures that one can properly extrapolate that abortion is murder or even that it should ever or always be considered a sin. I believe it is a very bold statement to make that one knows God’s Heart in every situation where a women or teenager has to make the decision whether to have an abortion. I never had to face this difficult decision as a woman but I certainly do not judge those who have had to face this decision-only God can judge them; no one else.
Nevertheless, I want to focus on a couple of specific points made by Pastor Jenkins. It is Pastor Jenkins opinion and his interpretation of the verses that he read in the Bible that life begins when there blood flowing. None of the verses that he cited were meant to address the issue of when does human life begin, particularly in connection with the concept of abortion. I find it interesting that the majority of the scripture cited by Pastor Jenkins was found in the Old Testament. There was only one scripture that I recall in the New Testament. The fact that the Old Testament was cited means that the scripture was directed to the Israelites and includes Mosaic/Jewish law. Research for yourself, but there is nothing in the Jewish Law or customs that suggest that life begins with the flowing of blood. Therefore, to suggest that any scripture in the Old Testament supports the position that life begins where there is blood flowing is misleading and false. Indeed, the Talmad (Jewish scripture) does not give full status of humanness to a child until birth. The Babylonian Talmud Yevamot 69b states that: “the embryo is considered to be mere water until the fortieth day.” Afterwards, it is considered subhuman until it is born. In the Torah (the Old Testament-first five books of the Bible), the first detailed description of the creation of a human being by God points to the moment when human life begins. “Yahweh God formed the man from the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living nefesh” (the first breath). In other words, life began for human being when God breathed breath into him (Genesis 2.7). Additional scriptures in the Torah demonstrate that breath is understood to be essential to life; and that when the breathing stops, life ends. “And all flesh that moved on the earth perished, birds, cattle, wild animals all swarming creatures that swarm upon the earth and all human beings. Everything which had the nishmat (breath) of life in its nostrils, all that were on dry land died” (Genesis 7.21-22). According to Jewish scripture, the fetus is regarded as a part of the mother's body and not as a separate being until it begins to egress from the womb during the birthing process, and attains the status of 'nefesh,' which means soul in Hebrew. In other words, under Jewish law and their scripture (which includes the Old Testament), the fetus only becomes a person after most of its body emerges from the birth canal. The Jeramiah 1 verse has nothing to do with the issue of when does a fetus become a human being; as Pastor Jenkins correctly pointed out, God was speaking directly to Jeremiah. It’s improper to reference that scripture for the subject of abortion. Bottom line, Pastor Jenkins cannot say that God says life begins with the flowing of blood….that is simply a false interpretation of scripture.
The second point I’d like to address is Pastor Jenkins statement that abortion is wrong because it is the shedding of innocent blood. I found it very telling that Pastor Jenkins did not answer the question on the death penalty when raised by the member of the congregation. It was directly relevant to the sermon just as the issue of War and other instances in which lives are lost. With respect to the issue of innocent blood, God tested Abraham by telling him to sacrifice his son, Isaac on Moriah. We know that Abraham begins to comply with this order from God when a messenger from God intervenes and substitutes a ram in place. Yet God did not send a messenger to spare the life of Jephthah's daughter when he offered her as a burnt sacrifice to God for bringing him victory against his enemies: Judges 11:30 through 40:" 30 And Jephthah made a vow to the LORD: “If you give the Ammonites into my hands, 31 whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be the LORD’s, and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering.”32 Then Jephthah went over to fight the Ammonites, and the LORD gave them into his hands. 33 He devastated twenty towns from Aroer to the vicinity of Minnith, as far as Abel Keramim. Thus Israel subdued Ammon. 34 When Jephthah returned to his home in Mizpah, who should come out to meet him but his daughter, dancing to the sound of timbrels! She was an only child. Except for her he had neither son nor daughter. 35 When he saw her, he tore his clothes and cried, “Oh no, my daughter! You have brought me down and I am devastated. I have made a vow to the LORD that I cannot break.”36 “My father,” she replied, “you have given your word to the LORD. Do to me just as you promised, now that the LORD has avenged you of your enemies, the Ammonites. 37 But grant me this one request,” she said. “Give me two months to roam the hills and weep with my friends, because I will never marry.”38 “You may go,” he said. And he let her go for two months. She and her friends went into the hills and wept because she would never marry. 39 After the two months, she returned to her father, and he did to her as he had vowed. And she was a virgin. From this comes the Israelite tradition 40 that each year the young women of Israel go out for four days to commemorate the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite.” Here, God allowed and accepted this sacrifice of a child to be made to Him. This is Biblical fact. Why God would allow Jephthah to sacrifice his daughter, my mind cannot comprehend but only God knows and it is not for us to know. In another set of scriptures, the Israelites shed innocent blood. Why the Israelites would want to dash the heads of infants against the rocks to revenge their enemies (Babylonians) , I do not know but we read Psalm 137:8-9 as follows: Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction, happy is the one who repays you according to what you have done to us. Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks." Again, this is an example of the shedding of innocent blood that God allowed and did not condemn. We also know that God allowed the first born of all Israelites to die in the book of Exodus. So, I share these passages to say that I don’t know why babies die or God allows them to die; I don’t know why women miscarriage or babies are not born to full term; I don’t know why a young 10 year old girl was raped or babies will die with significant birth defects or die within hours of their birth (like recently in Louisiana). Only God knows; only God can convict a person with the Holy Spirit to make a particular decision. Everyone is not a Christian. Indeed, in other countries, some women were forced to have abortions (i.e. China). Surely, one cannot say that this is murder. The one thing I can be rest assured, is that all of these souls that are lost are in the presence of God just like Jepthah’s daughter.

I am watching this in 2022 - when the topic of abortion/same-sex marriage has taken a front seat to all of our lives. Pastor Jenkins Sr did an EXCELLENT job at laying this down from the Word of God line upon line. It was not his 'opinion' that came to the forefront on the issue, but it was, 'This is what the Word of God says and this is how God feels about it'. This has got to be every Believer's stance - no matter what...and I can assure you - the 'no matter whats' are going to come! *Choose ye this day Whom you will serve and truly serve Him'....

Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks." Again, this is an example of the shedding of innocent blood that God allowed and did not condemn. We also know that God allowed the first born of all Israelites to die in the book of Exodus. So, I share these passages to say that I don’t know why babies die or God allows them to die; I don’t know why women miscarriage or babies are not born to full term; I don’t know why a young 10 year old girl was raped or babies will die with significant birth defects or die within hours of their birth (like recently in Louisiana). Only God knows; only God can convict a person with the Holy Spirit to make a particular decision. Everyone is not a Christian. Indeed, in other countries, some women were forced to have abortions (i.e. China). Surely, one cannot say that this is murder. The one thing I can be rest assured, is that all of these souls that are lost are in the presence of God just like Jepthah’s daughter.

When I fell pregnant at 18 I decided to take a "morning after pill". The morning after pill did not work, I am so glad it didn't work and God had my back like that. God is so amazing He already KNEW I had no idea what I was doing and that I was just a terrified teenager. The moment I found out I was pregnant even after taking that pill, I knew this baby was ment to live so I just let it be. I gave birth to him and he was rushed to NICU because he couldn't breath by himself. My little ninja STILL fought to live and eventually got out of NICU. That's when I knew his life had a purpose. This little baby escaped death TWICE and WON both times. My son is turning 5 this May and I am so happy to have him. His life has a bigger purpose. I know.
As a child of God I and all of us are Sinners and fall short of Gods Glory but with Repentance Obedience Submitting Acceptance Redemption Belief Great Faith the Lord will forgive us. I am a Christian and I am Pro-Choice which means that I believe that the decision to have an abortion is a decision that a woman must make with the consultation of her family and/or her physician. If she is a Christian woman, she will include God in that decision. I would not force my personal beliefs on anyone. That is why there is separation of State and Church. The Bible is completely silent on the issue of abortion and there are no scriptures that one can properly extrapolate that abortion is murder or even that it should ever or always be considered a sin. I believe it is a very bold statement to make that one knows God’s Heart in every situation where a women or teenager has to make the decision whether to have an abortion. I never had to face this difficult decision as a woman but I certainly do not judge those who have had to face this decision-only God can judge them; no one else.
Nevertheless, I want to focus on a couple of specific points made by Pastor Jenkins. It is Pastor Jenkins opinion and his interpretation of the verses that he read in the Bible that life begins when there blood flowing. None of the verses that he cited were meant to address the issue of when does human life begin, particularly in connection with the concept of abortion. I find it interesting that the majority of the scripture cited by Pastor Jenkins was found in the Old Testament. There was only one scripture that I recall in the New Testament. The fact that the Old Testament was cited means that the scripture was directed to the Israelites and includes Mosaic/Jewish law. Research for yourself, but there is nothing in the Jewish Law or customs that suggest that life begins with the flowing of blood. Therefore, to suggest that any scripture in the Old Testament supports the position that life begins where there is blood flowing is misleading and false. Indeed, the Talmad (Jewish scripture) does not give full status of humanness to a child until birth. The Babylonian Talmud Yevamot 69b states that: “the embryo is considered to be mere water until the fortieth day.” Afterwards, it is considered subhuman until it is born. In the Torah (the Old Testament-first five books of the Bible), the first detailed description of the creation of a human being by God points to the moment when human life begins. “Yahweh God formed the man from the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living nefesh” (the first breath). In other words, life began for human being when God breathed breath into him (Genesis 2.7). Additional scriptures in the Torah demonstrate that breath is understood to be essential to life; and that when the breathing stops, life ends. “And all flesh that moved on the earth perished, birds, cattle, wild animals all swarming creatures that swarm upon the earth and all human beings. Everything which had the nishmat (breath) of life in its nostrils, all that were on dry land died” (Genesis 7.21-22). According to Jewish scripture, the fetus is regarded as a part of the mother's body and not as a separate being until it begins to egress from the womb during the birthing process, and attains the status of 'nefesh,' which means soul in Hebrew. Why the Israelites would want to dash the heads of infants against the rocks to revenge their enemies (Babylonians) , I do not know but we read Psalm 137:8-9 as follows: Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction, happy is the one who repays you according to what you have done to us. Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks." Again, this is an example of the shedding of innocent blood that God allowed and did not condemn. We also know that God allowed the first born of all Israelites to die in the book of Exodus. So, I share these passages to say that I don’t know why babies die or God allows them to die; I don’t know why women miscarriage or babies are not born to full term; I don’t know why a young 10 year old girl was raped or babies will die with significant birth defects or die within hours of their birth (like recently in Louisiana). Only God knows; only God can convict a person with the Holy Spirit to make a particular decision. Everyone is not a Christian. Indeed, in other countries, some women were forced to have abortions (i.e. China). Surely, one cannot say that this is murder. The one thing I can be rest assured, is that all of these souls that are lost are in the presence of God just like Jepthah’s daughter.

I respectfully disagree with the sermon. The Bible is completely silent on the issue of abortion and there are no scriptures that one can properly extrapolate that abortion is murder or even that it should ever or always be considered a sin. I believe it is a very bold statement to make that one knows God’s Heart in every situation where a women or teenager has to make the decision whether to have an abortion. I never had to face this difficult decision as a woman but I certainly do not judge those who have had to face this decision-only God can judge them; no one else.
Nevertheless, I want to focus on a couple of specific points made by Pastor Jenkins. It is Pastor Jenkins opinion and his interpretation of the verses that he read in the Bible that life begins when there blood flowing. None of the verses that he cited were meant to address the issue of when does human life begin, particularly in connection with the concept of abortion. I find it interesting that the majority of the scripture cited by Pastor Jenkins was found in the Old Testament. There was only one scripture that I recall in the New Testament. The fact that the Old Testament was cited means that the scripture was directed to the Israelites and includes Mosaic/Jewish law. Research for yourself, but there is nothing in the Jewish Law or customs that suggest that life begins with the flowing of blood. Therefore, to suggest that any scripture in the Old Testament supports the position that life begins where there is blood flowing is misleading and false. Indeed, the Talmad (Jewish scripture) does not give full status of humanness to a child until birth. The Babylonian Talmud Yevamot 69b states that: “the embryo is considered to be mere water until the fortieth day.” Afterwards, it is considered subhuman until it is born. In the Torah (the Old Testament-first five books of the Bible), the first detailed description of the creation of a human being by God points to the moment when human life begins. “Yahweh God formed the man from the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living nefesh” (the first breath). In other words, life began for human being when God breathed breath into him (Genesis 2.7). Additional scriptures in the Torah demonstrate that breath is understood to be essential to life; and that when the breathing stops, life ends. “And all flesh that moved on the earth perished, birds, cattle, wild animals all swarming creatures that swarm upon the earth and all human beings. Everything which had the nishmat (breath) of life in its nostrils, all that were on dry land died” (Genesis 7.21-22). According to Jewish scripture, the fetus is regarded as a part of the mother's body and not as a separate being until it begins to egress from the womb during the birthing process, and attains the status of 'nefesh,' which means soul in Hebrew. In other words, under Jewish law and their scripture (which includes the Old Testament), the fetus only becomes a person after most of its body emerges from the birth canal. The Jeramiah 1 verse has nothing to do with the issue of when does a fetus become a human being; as Pastor Jenkins correctly pointed out, God was speaking directly to Jeremiah. It’s improper to reference that scripture for the subject of abortion. Bottom line, Pastor Jenkins cannot say that God says life begins with the flowing of blood….that is simply a false interpretation of scripture.
The second point I’d like to address is Pastor Jenkins statement that abortion is wrong because it is the shedding of innocent blood. I found it very telling that Pastor Jenkins did not answer the question on the death penalty when raised by the member of the congregation. It was directly relevant to the sermon just as the issue of War and other instances in which lives are lost. With respect to the issue of innocent blood, God tested Abraham by telling him to sacrifice his son, Isaac on Moriah. We know that Abraham begins to comply with this order from God when a messenger from God intervenes and substitutes a ram in place. Yet God did not send a messenger to spare the life of Jephthah's daughter when he offered her as a burnt sacrifice to God for bringing him victory against his enemies: Judges 11:30 through 40:" 30 And Jephthah made a vow to the LORD: “If you give the Ammonites into my hands, 31 whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be the LORD’s, and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering.”32 Then Jephthah went over to fight the Ammonites, and the LORD gave them into his hands. 33 He devastated twenty towns from Aroer to the vicinity of Minnith, as far as Abel Keramim. Thus Israel subdued Ammon. 34 When Jephthah returned to his home in Mizpah, who should come out to meet him but his daughter, dancing to the sound of timbrels! She was an only child.
