WHERE ARE INDIANA DUNES BEACHES - DUNES 101: BEACH EXPERIENCE
Indiana Dunes beaches get a lot of attention-and for good reason! Many people consider the 15-mile coastline to be among the best beaches in the world. Two of our most popular beaches are the Indiana Dunes State Park and West Beach of the National Park. Both locations have amenities like ample parking, restrooms, rinse-off stations, and lockers. There is also a fee to enter both locations.

Bicycles, ebikes and escooters are great options for last mile, short distance travel.
Cities need to do more to encourage people to ride bicycles by providing safe, protected bike lanes and trails. Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly. Bicycles are healthy exercise and fossil fuels free transportation. Electric bicycles are bringing many older adults back to cycling.

Why is there new National Park signs on 12 and 49 pointing directly to the State Park? Fantastic video, btw!

Hi! The Indiana Dunes National Park actually surrounds the state park! The national park's Porter Beach butts right up to the state park's beach on the west and Kemil Beach does the same on the east.
While the Indiana Dunes State Park has one entrance at the north end of 49, the national park has multiple entrances, many of which are along US 12. Hope that helps!

@@IndianaDunes When you get to the top of 49 coming off 12 East, there's a sign right there pointing directly north to the State Park. There's no sign though at the turn off at State Park Road to then go to Porter Beach. So every person I've talked to while hiking at the State Park think they're at the National Park. I just think it's odd those signs were added there, since the National Park isn't located on 49 north of 12. If anywhere, they should have been added on 12 and Waverly Road pointing directly to Porter Beach.

@@gregg1585 I'll have to drive by there to take a look as I'm not sure which sign you're talking about! I know of the sign at the intersection of 12 and 49 that points to Chellberg and the campground and another that says Dunes state park entrance. Is the sign you're talking about after the bridge that goes over 12?

Mt Baldy may be under construction so call first!

Hi John. Mt Baldy's beach and trail to the beach are open. The trail that goes over the top of the dune is permanently closed unless accompanied by a ranger.
