Hi, thanks for another great video. That C15 can be any colour you want but I'd go with Cat yellow. The reason is that when you lift the hood in a public place, us old people can tell what the power plant is based on the colour. I can never drive again but I'm happy to ride along with you because I'm real comfortable with your skills and I love your truck!

That Bel Air paint scheme looks good on the Pete. Cat motor.... Cat yellow paint, pastel blue engine will go good with whitewall tires and automatic transmission. When you open the hood that Cat yellow says it all. Thanks for the good videos.

I like the Cat yellow with the black valve covers, but it’s a custom truck so I’d go with the white and turquoise accents. I’ve seen plenty of other Cats painted to match the truck it’s in. At the end of the day it’s your truck so do what makes you happy.

Friend of mine built the same CAT same heads, runs hot all the time. Had no problems running hot, less fuel mileage (got 5 mpg I think, I can ask) compared to his brothers X15. Says he wishes he went with the X15. I vote white block just like your mechanic says with teal accents. Have fun!
ipd makes a nice big bore kit for those motors where you can basically make it a c17 at that size it would be much easier to make a 1000hp and your torque would be off the charts which to me is more important than the hp numbers i think the motor would match better paint wise in turqoise and maybe you could get a pin striper to put some cool white hi lights on it to break up the color really enjoy your channel keep on truckin
Here a bit of history for ya. Whenever Cat had something new the experimental, or the first models off the line were painted white. Dozors loaders and yes the first 1693 engines. If you're building way high horsepower, it'll be an experiment. A few years back Cat sold chrome valve covers. Been a Cat owner since 1977, been feed by a Cat power unit since 1954. A cat D 8800 power unit, 4 cyl turning 875 r p m. Ran a sawmill. It was painted white and we got the history lesson from Ohio Machine Youngstown Ohio. Our local Cat dealer. Schools out.

The same here. I’m the only one that drives my truck. I know around the 6000 mile mark , I need to top up oil. Unless there is puddles like you said, everything should be good. Obviously open the hood once in awhile to check things. You get to know your truck. I also start without clutch.
I was told to hold the clutch in. I love a Cat engine...better sound than most, tougher engine, more dependable, and you want to make it about 1K HP...OH YEAH, bring it on! Keep it coming! COLOR: Make it white with turquoise accents or visa-versa. Or maybe a rich maroon! Keep it safe and fun! 🤩
I’ll stick with my lil 470 hp 12:7 Detroit in my 2000 Classic. 1:85 million miles, never been cracked open, never left me sitting on side of the road. Today might be that day, but I doubt it. Good luck with your build, should be awesome
Yes better than a 6nz. I know, I know, sounds like heresy. But it's true. Best internals CAT ever built. And since you're "building" it, the less than desirable stock parts will go anyway. 1000hp is not a problem with these engines. Cooling 1000hp on any engine is the real challenge. Cool project
With Cummins insite, it's a little more convenient to create an initial image then a final image after your changes to the features and parameters. Even better would be to create a template so it can be quickly uploaded if you want to revert back to previous settings. I know the vid is a year old so disregard my .02 if anything.
Personally, I have a thing for gold engines, like the Oldsmobile rocket engines of years gone by. Good colour for finding fluid leaks and close to the Cat yellow too.
My .02 cents after spending over 80,000 building and rebuilding a Cat MXS. Long story listening to the so called Cat experts cost a lot of money. I was putting over 900 to the ground grossing 108,000 hauling fuel. It was like driving a pickup. When empty pickups couldn't keep up on 6% grades. I would recommend converting to a 6NZ. You have many more tuning options. You will need a 6NZ cam gear, relocate the cam sensor, 6NZ ECM, and move some wires around at the ECM. With the marine cam the jakes will be like stage 2 with the factory cam. Put the biggest radiator in you can make fit and a Duralite air charge cooler. For more info go to Adept Ape channel. He has a video telling you how to get 1,000 hp with factory parts. If you run over 40 psi of boost the head will crack. I cracked 2 of them running 45 psi. The reason the BXS runs high boost is because the intake valve actuators reduce the cylinder pressure.
