He called Kurt and asked Kurt "is this AJ kid any good"? Kurt Angle told Brock that if he sold for him, they'd have a great match. So the match they put together, it was put together with him not knowing him at all.
All due respect to Jinder, ,he's absolutely right. AJ is more well-rounded wrestler and can bump circles for Brock. I think AJ gave Jinder his best match on Smackdown when he lost the belt to AJ
Jinder Mahal is a true professional, the man understands the business and the fact that stylistically A.J. Styles vs Brock Lesnar was a better match for the fans than himself vs Brock Lesnar.
Jinder gets it. Having a match with Brock at that time would've made no sense for either involved. Also, it can be called an honor to drop the title to AJ Styles. Jinder was not used to his best potential. The man was over as a heel.
@@kyleday5026 apparently Brock and Bray were scheduled for a match at WrestleMania 32, but bray had a health issue. Not many can pull off what Jinder had in the history of the WWE. Him winning was not nearly as bad as someone like Arquette winning but it really did create a lot of surprise and buzz. Regardless, Jinder deserved it. He earned that run and it was probably better than expected.
Speaking on AJ, has he ever had a bad match? Even back in 2002 when he was involved in the 1st ever TNA match, he was great. Seeing all his early stuff, it looks like he hasn't lost a step.
The only thing Jinder was wrong here is A.J being a babyface. He was also a heel before they quickly changed their plans. He faced Brock at Survivor Series as tweener because there was no change they could turn A.J babyface in such short time.
Daniel Bryan was a heel when he faced Brock too, but AJ and Bryan have the skill and the style to work face for a match even when they go in as heels, that just wouldn't have worked with Jinder.
I like that Aj v Lesnar match even more than the one Brock had with Danielson tbh. It was so well paced and you started to believe AJ could actually win when he had that calf crusher on
Jinder Mahal is a great wrestler and a great guy. He needs a slight avatar change & a bit of a push however. i don't think his character works as a mid carder. nor a one note heel... He wasn’t exactly exciting in the ring but he was more than decent and he definitely deserved better. Hopefully he can get another proper run in WWE where he’s not a joke.
@@joolsmacgrools1288 Agreed, though I would say he was exciting to watch in certain marches. He needed more varied opponents to pick up a bit of fluidity in his offence. I do think it was a right call to make AJ the challenger against Brock Lesnar. Plus, heel vs heel matches rarely work, unless there’s a baby face involved in the match too.
His reasoning is justified in that their styles would mesh better, but with that being the case they should have run with Champion Vs Champion in the first place rather than Jinder literally challenging Lesnar to a match and then have it be scrapped.
