first time flying Busters drone. I hit a tree, and the semi, but never crash into the ground!
Muy bonito que tengan en cuenta la familia de los militares y hagan integración.
I've been there worked all over the mill for 21 years
I worked at the Sheet n Tin Mill in ‘68….
views as in Mariupol, Ukraine
My pops works there been there for 25 years he works in the slab yard
I was at this plant, with a tanker for used oil for preheating, huge plant and the views of Lake Michigan were fantastic, The trains that run through Gary were flying and multiple tracks to navigate!! The mills are long gone here in Youngstown area, 😩
He's in the tin mill warehouse.. just to the left of the direction He's driving is the tin lines
@@oldgoat50 yes they are still wood blocks
@@oldgoat50 3K ish through USS Gary Works West, GW East, and USS Midwest 10 miles down the road. Edited for accuracy, I was quite off originally. As of 2023, Gary Works itself only has around 2300 employees.
If they knew you were filming inside the plant you would be banned for life.
Heck, just looking at the mill with your eyes from public property is enough to get you banned by U.S. Steel security (that's how strict they are!).
almost 20 of being a steel hauler door 800 tin Gary works
Your neighbor has greener grass.
Makes total sense to put STEEL MILLS in cold climates. American lawmakers sold out industry to the world. TOTAL SHAME ON DC AND NEW YORK and ALL politicians
I work there everyday. Greasy as hell up in there. Especially in the drag house or filtration room over in the north sheet mill.
@@oldgoat50 being greasy af hell nah. They get on ur ass more with safety shit but not as much as arcelor. 84 was horrible too lmao
Looks like door 800 loaded out of that door a couple of times
THATS THE SHEET AND TIN SIDE
At our plant in GA, you would have been stopped and escorted out of the plant for rolling through stop sign/crosswalk like that, but maybe it's just video edit.
Interesting seeing this video of the trucker bringing in cold mill rolling oil, probably to the six stand of the north sheet mill. would like to see what that place looks like now almost 50 years later.
Chuck Taylor , I was delivering acid to the tin mill.
Derek, that HCL is some nasty stuff. Be safe, I'm sure you are.
Did they ever find out why it stopped?!
Omg I remember going with my mom to drop my pop off at work...wow hard to watch this video that drive...man I'm from Gary Indiana Glen Park.. but you damn straight we got out.. thank you God...man I got to show this to my dad....
Same here Rebekah. I grew up on 45th and Maryland by St.Joe the Worker church. I miss Stanley's IGA and Scarsdale Rx. Grew up with the Plesac brothers.
Jack Shit ...my house is still standing and my best friends brother lives in it now 620 42nd Street and yes I remember the IGA...I think it's still standing but closed down...
@@rebekahmcfatridge6691 nope, Stanley's is burned down.my house was at 4433 Maryland. It was my great grandparents house. certainly good memories of that time.nice reminiscing with you Rebekah, all the best to you and family.
Jack Shit ...oh that's sad...you too
This is a great video. Wow. Is that a pond?
Is there any way to get a tour of the plant? I have always wanted to tour the huge facility. It is on my bucket list.
Be and industrial cleaner you'll see it all
Wait til they have a family day and just walk right in
“Iron will make us powerful; butter will only make us fat.” ― Hermann Göring
He knew for sure about butter.
How do u get in there off of 65
5th Avenue
I been working there going on 7yrs💪💪..We pump ALOT of slabs out our continuous slab casters
I was doing electrical work for slab caster #2 back in around 84 or so. When completed, George Bush senior, as the vice president, came to give some blabbering speech prior to beginning it's operation.
I used to frequent that place, it's been a few years since I've been in US steel , I do although frequent CN Kirk Yard, which runs alongside the Mill....
I'm a Trustee of the Theodore Roosevelt Association and we're producing a promo video for the 2017 Friends and Family Cruise on CVN-71. You have so many great shots in here. Would you mind if we used some of them in the video that's going out to our members?
The best move I ever made in my life was to leave U.S. Steel. What rachet and racist memories. In the 70's I watched the whites get the clean and higher paying jobs and the blacks and other minorities get the dirty ,shitty lower paying jobs.
That's what did my local in. My Caucasian brothers refused to hire a fair amount of "minorities" and female workers while the times changed around them, and those workers made up more and more of the population. They were trying to save the apprenticeships and their journeyman positions for their sons and grandsons who grew up and didn't want them.
Cool footage. I don't imagine Gary Works will ever shut down. Even the stupidest politician must realize we need domestically produced steel. If we ever go to war with China what are we going to do? Order some steel from China to build tanks?
@eric ellis I sure hope it never shuts down but nothing lasts forever. I love the way the mill looks. Some people see a dirty old steel mill but it makes me feel good every time I pass it by on the Toll road.
years ago they said the same thing about sparrows point, lackawanna ny, bethlehem PA at least to name a couple of major plants. i live in wny, and they dont make much here anymore. they have turned it into a "tourist" destination. its a joke. i think we need a strong manufacturing base, i am not against manufacturing..... i will say though sadly dont be so arrogant. they will sell off the remaining steel plants without thinking twice. this country is run by liberal morons and owned by china.
Probably not, but automation has made every worker produce twice as much steel as they did in 1990, this trend will continue as technology advances more and more, so less workers are actually needed, in conclusion, while steel production will likely stop or decrease, employment will as it has in the last 30 years
The next land wars will be fought with E-bombs and drones - don't need much steel for those.
@@oldgoat50 , where in the sheet and tin did you work? 80 inch, the new 84 inch, north sheet mill 5 stand, galvanizing?
no Gary is not down but just about every other ussteel is .
I spent a lot of time in my life there I worked for the EJ&E Railroad !
should check that check engine light lol
Horrible fillet job
its amazing i thought gary had to shut down the mills but i guess not
We were there....great day! Thanks for sharing the video.
