A tip for having your mower cables last much longer before they snap is spray inside the cable tube ends with chain and cable fluid at least once a week.
I went to your channel because I seen you had Max on there to the right of the screen I showed Ryker, He clicked on your video here and seen your truck and he said daddy’s truck (“Parent child relationship“ referencing: Interview you had last week) I told Riker yeah that’s daddy‘s truck, .... Dad Mike/ Brother Thank for you Hard Work!
Also work with the sun for lines. Keep your lines as close to east to west and the reflection hits better (usually) also if you do switch lines cross them so you get a nice checkered pattern which a lot of people aren’t accustomed to seeing, that property would have been perfect for that and would have been fast
I have been thinking about starting a lawn care business and the funny thing is this the second video i found in just as many days were it is someone from my area making videos about starting a lawn care business i live right by that dentists office.
Constantly using heavy riding mowers on lawns eventually stresses and kills off healthy grass (St. Augustine especially) because it slowly compacts the soil and starves the roots of oxygen. Periodic aeration of lawns will help revive the soil underneath. I only use walk-behind mowers because they have a lighter footprint on the turf. Think quality not quantity. Treat each owner's lawn as it were your own. When you operate the business as a cookie-cutter operation, hitting the turf and no really caring about the customer, your work becomes substandard.
Great videos man , i really like to see how the pros do their day to day work. Maybe think about having one of your crews run around with a camera so you dont have to do all the work and you could do the voice over, i know i would still watch and find value in your videos! Thank again for the great videos, you are really helping me to start my lawncare and landscaping business.
I bought a 2019 bad boy rouge with the 61 inch deck. I do use it for my business and my personal property which is 15 acres. In my case I had a reason to buy a big zero turn.
Interesting request. So they don’t want grass cut when they are “open.” (Not like it’s going to interfere with operations inside the building). Also too specific time requests can be a pain if you live in a area where there is rain all the time. (Just my 2 cents)
Hey Mike great video. I'm interested in starting a lawn care business. My question to you is. Did you start as a sole prop and work you're way up to an LLC/Inc? A video on this topic would be beneficial for sure.
I use a 2015 30 inch Toro and 44 Inch Toro Proline. I would like to purchase two new Scag mowers in 2022 but don't believe the 30 inch is included in fleet pricing. I'm in Indiana and currently mow mainly in town smaller lawns, if my business transitions into more subdivision lawns later on a larger zero turn would be better than a walk behind like I run. So things might change for us in the future but now it's pretty solid. Love how you standardize your setups.
I like these videos for multiple reasons. We can better explain things over the phone to our customers, watching how it’s done, understanding the equipment the customers see and the treatments used. It’s also very funny to hear the recent “voice” say you’re stupid if you mow lawns. That guy doesn’t know the peeps I know. 😂🤣🤑
Get a 36 walk behind with a sulky. Never ever seen a gate snakker than 42 inches .. I've fit my 48 threw a 44 inch gate lol just had to go in at angles and bent the pole a bit
Well. First. Nice and efficient. !!! Spraying here in New York you’ll need permits. I’m not gonna do that !!! 🤣🤣. 2). Like that mower!!! 3) love the “no trailer !!” More money to have one and a pain. 4) grass clipping are hard to get rid of.
A floating deck wouldn't scalp. But that's a rider. And it's hydraulic. So you're able to lift it with your foot pedal in case you don't want to use the lever.
price varies with location. For instance, in some areas, you can do a surcharge if the customer leaves dog poop in the yard. In my area, customers would look at you like you had three heads if you said there would be a surcharge for dog poop. In some areas, a tiny yard that a guy can mow with a push mower in 20 minutes can be $40 or $50. In my area, a yard that takes me 45 minutes to do with a 42" zero turn is a $50 yard. I can average $1 per minute, but thats with a few easy yards that are sub 40 minutes for $50 and a few $60 yards that take just over an hour. And while $1 per minute sounds good, after taxes and overhead you lose about 1/3 of that. Still, it beats working at a home depot.
Try toro timemaster 30. It's a homeowner machine that is light an durable. We do 500k a year so we put them to the test. We run both exmark 30s and the homeowner machine is a better machine for half the price
Mike Andes, great video, thank you. I know you dont want to mention the name of the product you're using to spray. Could you mention what it's main ingredient is? Is it a vinegar based product?
Sir I have been following you for months recent subscriber to help build my business in lawn care and landscaping I have been watching alot of your videos and I just found out today that I have an Augusta lawn care service right in my area I just thought that was cool
Great video, nice job, I know the pump sprayer is cheaper, how come you're not using the battery type of sprayer that will give consistent spraying? Thanks
Hey mike, Doesn't xmark have a second positiion for the handle lower for people lower to the ground? If you just shorten the handle length, the force needed to raise the front goes up quickly, you'd need to buff up some more to make a day of mowing if they just shortened the handle. I have a toro timemaster 30 inch. it has two settings for a taller and shorter person. If xmark doesn't have that (which they should), consider shifting brands. Like the vids. Always finding nuggets to make the work less of a job. As a one man show, I'm finding myself talking with customers regularly (almost too much). They are usually needing other services....everything from Putting on A/C covers to painting, to replacing smoke detector batteries. I'm finally figuring out that they are less likely to dump reliability on price. Just need to wrangle in the handyman stuff to just what Fits in the day.
115, thousand views?? What is all the excitement on grass mowing? I want to try this on a limited scale as I am a senior now. There's even Lawn Mower Simulation games out there now. Imagine training newbies how to cut grass on a grass mower simulator, in VR? Still wierd. You need the smell of grass in the air and green stains on your hands to really "get it!"
I currently just put my stuff in my truck bed but am looking into upgrading to either a trailer or a trailer less setup however if I go trailer less I would need to get a truck to put the ramp rack in. Any suggestions or recommendations are greatly appreciated!
Have done a video on it specifically.... Honestly, there isn't enough difference between that and the 30 inch push mower for us to pay 3X as much for the stander
Mike, hopefully you read this comment on such an old video. I am also in Washington State, do you not need an applicators license for an eco friendly pesticide? There is surprisingly limited amounts of info that I can find.
True that on bagging and funny that they don’t think it should be a charge or have a 64 gallon can you can’t use or worse a 12 gallon can for an acre lot 😂
Great video as always Mike! Any insight you can give me on that weed spray? Just the basic ingredients even? I've done a lot of research and I have come across chelated iron and of course horticultural grade vinegar but they either leave stains or wreak havoc on the sprayer seals.
Looks like a lot of fuel tanks to keep in a sealed container like that. One cap not sealed well or a leak and a spark would make that container a massive fireball
I would say I learned more from my top 20-30 audiobooks... BUT would be a great thing to do for someones career... if they are going into the corporate world.
Does anyone know the weed spray ingredients? I've done a ton of research and I know chelated iron works really well and it can be used in turf but of course that will rust things such as cement also horticultural grade vinegar and orange oil but that tends to ruin seals in sprayers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
