Sorry for the mistake on how the Turtles are referred to in the Triceraton arena. In my haste of simultaneously writing notes and watching the episode, I thought I heard "Hero" when they said "Alien." My apologies. I'll edit that part out of the video. Thanks for fact checking for me. Everybody makes mistakes.
tmnt original charechter name Angel her age 5 Raphael found her as a stoulaway on Dr honeycouts ship she managed to keep hidden. and snuk on the ship when the earth was bein destroyed and raph wants to protect her though she has a dark passed shredder killed her family and she was found without anyone the turtles adopt her as there own
ya the breathing technique was in the 06 when they where trapped in the triceraton ship. also was it just me or was it weird that there was oxygen in the ship instead of a mixed nitrogen and sulfur?
+crasome77 I think you mean in the "03, but yeah everything else is fine. Though I do agree that it is weird that the Triceratons aren't breathing nitrogen and sulfur
yeah, in season 3 the first triseraton couldn't breath the air. So they cannot breath the Earth's atmosphere and need to have a atmosphere converter so, it makes abosolutly no sense to have Earth's atmosphere. But it might have been to similar to the 2003 episode with their own atmosphere converter.
I grew up with the 2003 version so this episode contained all the nostalgic easter eggs for me. And I would love to see Usagi and his companions make a cameo in this. I could just imagine Usagi as a cute little bunny teen samurai in training, with a cute little smile where his front teeth are larger like a rabbit, he'd just be so adorable and awesome too. They defiantly gotta make him and Leo BFF's cuz they were friends in the 2003 version as well. But that's just my nostalgia wish for this series which I love immensely. ^^ And David Tennant, you win in this episode. XD
I loved this episode. I definitely had nostalgic flashbacks to the 2003 TMNT with this episode. I hope they bring either the Battle Nexus arc or the Ninja Tribunal arc (The Lost Episodes aka Season 5) from the 2003 TMNT to this TMNT.
One thing from the 2003 series I hope they bring into this one is the episode "The Darkness Within". The episode where the turtles had to fight this evil Cthulhu looking demon that brought their worst fears to life and fed on their fear and despair. It was a really good and really dark episode with this really neat red filter over everything. I'd love to see how they'd do that episode in this show.
I know there are a bunch of people (including myself) that are waiting and hoping for Usagi, and I completely agree to bring back the Battle Nexus arch, but my wish is that if they do that that they bring back the Neutrinos as we know them from the 80s cartoon in.
+falleneldor It was issue 6 of the original Mirage run. Issues 5-7 are set in outer space and feature the Fugitoid, so those are the basis for both the 2003 series' "Turtles In Space" episodes and much more loosely this season of the 2012 series.
They did use that meditation tecnique in the 2k3 series. I didn't even think about it not being mentioned in the 2k12 series yet xD I was surprised that the turtles was able to breath the air in the ship, since the triceratons home world had an atmosphere that didn't work out with "earthlings". Although, it is great how they take stuff from most (if not all franchises) and mix them together in this show!
I feel like this episode is what the season has been missing! Action, story development, proof that, like not all Kraang are evil, so not all Triceraton are evil, and good humor as usual! I hope we get more episodes like this!
+The Syncshadow He's supposed to be in another dimension. So considering that the Krang can travel between them, he may come back after this season, if not slipped in this season
I want to see Draco, the Daimyo's son, Usagi Yojimbo, Murakami Gennosuke, Bishop, the Justice Force, the Ninja Tribunal, Serling and Cody Jones (April and Casey's future son who is around the same age as April and Casey currently), and of course Constable Biggles.
This is so far my favorite episode of this season so far, a really good strong episode, I like the previous but I feel they lack the intensity the show have previously, but this one was really, really good, great job.
+Shinobi Pizza I say this every damn week, but I just want them to wear the damn intergalactic wrestling costumes from the comics. I *need* this in my life now. That and Cudley the Cowlick. I have never wanted something to happen so much in my life.
Hey Andre! loved this episode, i wished they had some references to the Intergalactic Wrestling on the Stump Asteroid in the Archie comics. Like a six armed dog guy? oh and it was Adolescent Alien Warrior Terrapins ;)
They did do that in 2003 with the meditation on the ship because the Triceraton's had a different breathing atmosphere that had limited oxygen. It was before the arena, when they are found on the cargo bay and the Triceraton's were surprised those non-Triceraton's were able to breathe in their atmosphere. It was like the end of one season and the beginning of a next. Maybe Seasons 2-3. All they need to do to make it like the 2003 and these are my personal favorites is 1) do the Mystic Tournament with the Daimyo, 2)Leo having issues where he is always serious and argumentative towards his brothers and has to go on some sort of personal quest to become more spiritual and not let his anger get the best of him, and 3)I really liked it when they went to the future and had to save Master Splinter's digital remnants and they meet April and Casey's descendant. Donnie was having personal issues too during that season. It was a really good season and it had the Dark Turtles. They need to make Dark Turtles for this series. I gave them all names: Lenox, Radley, Donovan, and Milas. I just want to see more angsty episodes where a turtle becomes more angry and distant from the others. I don't see a lot lately as the turtles are more of a team then individual pieces. I missed their solo moments.
Yep they were in a bunker type ship where the craft that had a crack in the haul forgot how it got a crack in the haul but the stuff in the haul trapped the air but still had to do their breathing thing to last the full time until they got to the main ship.
I would like to see the underground people that turn into mutants from early on from the 03 series into the new series myself. They were an interesting bunch. Also I laughed out loud when you did that impression of Casey losing air in space. XD Would love to see that happen in the series later on.
Why exactly do they need all of the pieces again? Wouldn't just having one of them and, I don't know, burying it deep underground or something successfully prevent the Triceratons from completing the black hole generator?
Oh man Andre I kept gettin flashbacks to only mine go back farther, I'm watchin this episode and then suddenly I'm 13-14 watchin this on 4kids on Sat. morning hahahaha. But great recap man and if thre's something I hope comes back from the 2003 series I kinda hopes it's the tournament or Big Brawl arc from the series. Great job Andre it was fun.
Awesome video Andre! Also, is it me or did that tentacle monster with the eyes look like those creatures that Han and Chewie were delivering in The Force Awakens?
That meditation technique is an actual thing, and they even mentioned it in the 2k3 series; I think it's called Qigong? It's supposed to calm a person down so hard that they can control their own breathing and heart rate? I'm not sure about the heart rate thing, but the breathing definitely makes sense.
@blacknerd when they had the 2k3 series, they had the same thing about the meditation breathing thing, except it was called a different thing and they didn't show it until the tryceraton ship landed in the mothership. That's how they ended up in the arena (after they were in the jail thing for a few days). 2k16 kinda smashed 2 of the 2k3 episodes together into 22 minutes.
Watching this episodes brought back many great memories from the Battle Nexus arc from the 2K series. Now I hope they'll bring both Drako and Ultimate Ninja in to the series, seeing this episode was a great homage to the 2K series.
The original arena fight in issue #6 of the Mirage books is still the best. I do have one question: Why do the turtles need to find the other two pieces of the black hole generator? Isn't having one piece enough to keep the Triceratons from completing it?
The Foot Mystics (those magic five ninjas who each had their own elemental abilities of water, metal, earth, fire, and wind) need to appear later on in the series. They appear in the 2003 series.
Actually when Zeno fought the turtles you can see 4 triceratron with the words Zeno painted on there stomach p.s. I am a boy I'm just using my sisters old account
Yes there was a scene ware the Turtles did meditate in the 2003 show just after they stowed away on a Triceraton ship and it was venting atmosphere so they slowed down there metabolic rates to survive. It was successful till they started to breath the Triceraton air.
What I'd like to see from the 2003 Turtles' show reincarnated here? The Ninja Tribunal! The secret Ninja Masters of Earth who once worked alongside the 'First' demonic Shredder. Kon, Juto, Chikara, Hisomi and the Ancient one. They teach the Turtles the more mystical and spiritual aspects of being Ninja, which majorly come in handy. :3
I need help dear sir.....I brought a 2ds at BEST buy had to return for a fault now the new 2ds won't let me link my nintendo id ...I no longer have access to the old one so help please anybody
Hadoken! Hadoken! Shoryuken! Finish him! Duh-Duh-duh! Fatality! That was an awesome Episode for few references from 2003 series and Street fighter Mortal kombat!
Do it man. I rewatched the entire 2003 TMNT last year and it was awesome. It was even better than I remembered. Rewatching it brought back a lot of memories.
I'm from the UK and I've got a lot of Teenager Mutant Hero Turtles (TMHT) from the edit into and a lot of scenes of Mikey's nunchucks edit out and we still got scenes edit out in the 2012 series mostly Donnie and Mikey's weapons (the blades being deployed) but that's censorship reasons for ya.
So... what's gonna happen to these space versions of the April, Casey, and the Turtles? Keep in mind, the ones with the Fugitoid are about six months ahead, their past selves are still on Earth. Being that they are currently outside of their current, proper time, are they gonna be erased, merge with their past selves, or just continue living in space? If the space group gets erased and they bring some of the space characters to Earth, when happens then? If the space group gets erased, then what happens to all the characters they've met? There's just too many questions.
This episode was so AWESOME!!!!! Btw: Back in the 2003 episodes, there was a part in the TMNT episode that did have them with the secret breathing way.
Well, since the turtles are in space at the moment. I thought it'd be interesting to reference the Turtloid planet from the 80's cartoon. And even though it's a stretch maybe have them encounter Groundchuck and Dirtbag at some point. XD
You know what wold be cool? If Ranet showd up again and took the turtles to the future were April and Casey's great graet grand son wold show them every thing that happend for the past 100 years, just like the 2003 series... more or less. What do you think of this idea Andre?
I'd like to see a Battle Nexus saga in the 2k12 series with a Miyamoto Usagi crossover like in the 2k3 series. It was always my favorite story arc. The Ninja Tribunal story arc was my 2nd favorite.
It was be SO cool to see like the Ancient One from 2k3 or at least someone similar to him. But this puzzle me so they have to gather all 3 of the black hole generator to destroy it? cant they just destroy that one piece they have?
The Street fighter and Mortal Kombat references where awesome! I would love a whole episode dedicated to the Turtles getting stuck in that Holo deck/Danger room. They could pay homage the vintage TMNT games.
I'm hoping they bring the mythology of the dragon warriors they did in the 2003 version, where the turtles fought the original shredder the demon version or when they all got seperated into 4 different dimensions
Hmmm I would love to see Baxter Stockman return to a human form and become all robot similar to the 2003 incarnation. He was one of my fav villains in that version of TMNT
I'm kinda wondering why they need to collect all the pieces now. Since the Triceratons can't build one themselves, can't they destroy the piece they have, rendering the other pieces useless?
When I first watched this I thought Zeno said his name was Zero, and I fangirled because I thought it was reference to prisoner zero on Doctor who (which David Tennant who plays prof. Honeycutt also starred in) unfortunately it wasn't
I thought they called them 'Adolescent ALIEN warrior terrapins. But I show a poster for the hero one and I was like no they're ninjas they're special XD
Zeno was the biggest triceraton ever and scary to the way he beat the turtles to death hopefully we'll see him when the turtles get access to all the other pieces of the black hole generator/heart of darkness
well I would love to see the evil turtle clones from the future. in tmnt fast forward they intro 4 clones of the turtles who where bigger, faster and stronger then the originals. they where so cool and would love to see them again here the other character I want in this show is Miyamoto Usagi the 2003 version. I want to see the swords bros Leo and Usagi they are so cool together
I would like to see Jhanna from The peoples choice episode and Quarry/Sydney from The notes from the underground episodes. Both women seem to get on really well with Donnie and that would be great to see in this series too and see April get jealous. That would be funny. Plus I would also like to see Miyamoto Usagi from The Big brawl episode with him and Leo having that cute Bromance thing going on. Oh and I would love to see Mrs Morrison from The touch and go episode. Raph was so sweet to her in that episode. I'm getting greedy now but I would also love to see Tyler from The Lone Raph and cub episode. Again Raph is such a sweetheart in that episode. Also I was also wondering if you were considering reviewing the 2003 Turtle series?
Bro I was geeking out when they literally copied the meditation scene from 2k3. That was my first exposure to TMNT and that's one of the few scenes I explicitly remember watching. It was awesome.
I only had two problems with this episode:One was the fact I felt I was watching an abridged version of the 2003 version of the story. I get it had inspirations from it but the fact it was so simular was off putting for me. The other one is why they went with a new character Zeno if he was basically Trimaximus? Just seemed odd.

+Black Nerd Comedy you better get them power rangers reviews out, you way behind and DSC will premier this Saturday, get busy Andre
Are you almost done with 2003 turtles? Will you give your thoughts or review it?
+Black Nerd Comedy Love the Year of Luigi poster in the background, Andre please keep it there for future videos.
Did you check out the final 2003 turtles ep called back to the Sowers
ya the breathing technique was in the 06 when they where trapped in the triceraton ship. also was it just me or was it weird that there was oxygen in the ship instead of a mixed nitrogen and sulfur?
+crasome77 I think you mean in the "03, but yeah everything else is fine. Though I do agree that it is weird that the Triceratons aren't breathing nitrogen and sulfur
+crasome77 That was a bit of a continuity issue.

+Apple Pye yep 2003 reference
anthony green The Original comic as well. The 2012 creators reference back to all past incarnations.
I grew up with the 2003 version so this episode contained all the nostalgic easter eggs for me. And I would love to see Usagi and his companions make a cameo in this.
Ninjas in a galactic gladiatorial arena? POWER RANGERRRRRS NINJA STEEL!
Cough cough ninja shit
One thing from the 2003 series I hope they bring into this one is the episode "The Darkness Within". It was a really good and really dark episode with this really neat red filter over everything. I'd love to see how they'd do that episode in this show.
They kind of already did that in season one.
And with the dream beavers
Well shit. But they could still do it, episodes like this are always nice to have. It lets the writes play around a bit.
I hope they do that Battle Nexus Tournament thing from the 2003 series, that could be fun.
I know there are a bunch of people (including myself) that are waiting and hoping for Usagi, and I completely agree to bring back the Battle Nexus arch, but my wish is that if they do that that they bring back the Neutrinos as we know them from the 80s cartoon in.
I LOVED how David Tennant shouted booyakasha. Also, I would love to see Usagi in this series. He needs to be in here!
I don't want to be that guy… but the arena stuff was in the comics before the 2003 series.
Hi, that guy!
+Black Nerd Comedy Oh no! I have become that guy! Welp, I guess I have to search the internet for people to correct for all time now.
+Edgo Is Go There is nothing wrong with fact checking so long as your not an asshole about it. What comic did this story first appear in?
+falleneldor It was issue 6 of the original Mirage run. Issues 5-7 are set in outer space and feature the Fugitoid, so those are the basis for both the 2003 series' "Turtles In Space" episodes and much more loosely this season of the 2012 series.
+Black Nerd Comedy Andre have you even read the Mirage comics, they are way better than the 80s series

I don't even need to watch the show Andre's reviews are that good
IKR!
g
Andre doesn't cover everything though. Like Mikey cooking space slugs by electrocuting them in this episode.
I'm looking for Usagi Yojimbo to show up. Voiced by Ernie Reyes Jr. I know it's probably not going to happen, but, I would like to see it.
You got your wish
+Black Nerd Comedy It brings tears of joy onto my face to finally hear you talk about the 2003 TMNT at length lol.
I feel like this episode is what the season has been missing! Action, story development, proof that, like not all Kraang are evil, so not all Triceraton are evil, and good humor as usual! I hope we get more episodes like this!
Bring back that Rabbit Samurai dude!!!
Miyamoto Usagi/Usagi Yojimbo is his name.
+The Syncshadow He's supposed to be in another dimension. So considering that the Krang can travel between them, he may come back after this season, if not slipped in this season
Iqbalx1 That is the spread about theory
***** I don't care either or.....maybe they're own take on the character..
+The Syncshadow I NEED USAGI YES
Actually, Kevin Michael was in Season 4 for a while. He has been voicing Aeons, Triceratons, etc.
I know. I meant specifically as Shredder.
+Black Nerd Comedy hey there was a dr strange trailer and you didn't review it
I want to see Draco, the Daimyo's son, Usagi Yojimbo, Murakami Gennosuke, Bishop, the Justice Force, the Ninja Tribunal, Serling and Cody Jones (April and Casey's future son who is around the same age as April and Casey currently), and of course Constable Biggles.
This is so far my favorite episode of this season so far, a really good strong episode, I like the previous but I feel they lack the intensity the show have previously, but this one was really, really good, great job.
Bring back Usagi. You brought back everyone else. Bring Usagi back. PLLEEEEEEEEEEEAAASE!!
Adolescent Alien Warrior Terrapins, not Hero.
Still waiting for Myamoto Usagi...
Also, I want some IDW characters in this show already! Old Hob. Alopex. Please, Nick?
+Shinobi Pizza Much as I want Usagi, I think I heard somewhere his creator didn't want Usagi involved in the new toon...so we may be out of luck.
Still waiting for Ninjara.
+Shinobi Pizza I say this every damn week, but I just want them to wear the damn intergalactic wrestling costumes from the comics. I *need* this in my life now. That and Cudley the Cowlick. I have never wanted something to happen so much in my life.
Yeah, they need to bring back the Battle Nexus arc, so that Usagi can return.
MrLyndonBJohnson maybe next season.
Hey Andre! loved this episode, i wished they had some references to the Intergalactic Wrestling on the Stump Asteroid in the Archie comics. Like a six armed dog guy?
oh and it was Adolescent Alien Warrior Terrapins ;)
They did do that in 2003 with the meditation on the ship because the Triceraton's had a different breathing atmosphere that had limited oxygen.
I don't even watch the cartoon, but is so enjoyable watching him talking about it.
You had me dying when you said "Jada Pinckett Krang" 😂😂
After watching this episode. Battle Nexus. Traximus. And Donatello should be a splat on the wall after a hammer smack like that?
I would like to see the underground people that turn into mutants from early on from the 03 series into the new series myself. They were an interesting bunch. Also I laughed out loud when you did that impression of Casey losing air in space. XD Would love to see that happen in the series later on.

This gets a like for the "Krang" bit alone. All you were missing was a reference to Straight Outta Compton. KWA Krangs With Attitude
@blacknerd when they had the 2k3 series, they had the same thing about the meditation breathing thing, except it was called a different thing and they didn't show it until the tryceraton ship landed in the mothership. They really should've just made zeno traximus. Hell, I'm fine with traximus just being his last name.
Wow, barely any bad aspects in your opinion from this episode, Andre. That's a first, I'm so proud! 😄
I liked & agreed with everything you said about this episode. I also remember the 2003 series in the arena, thanks for the flashback. :)
The original arena fight in issue #6 of the Mirage books is still the best. I do have one question: Why do the turtles need to find the other two pieces of the black hole generator? Isn't having one piece enough to keep the Triceratons from completing it?
Question. If these parts are so rare, why don't they just break one? Wouldn't that solve the problem by breaking all 3 of them?
As seen in Annihilation: Earth, the black hole generator is the most advanced piece of Kraang technology, and is nearly indestructible.
The Foot Mystics (those magic five ninjas who each had their own elemental abilities of water, metal, earth, fire, and wind) need to appear later on in the series. They appear in the 2003 series.
Ever since Mozar mentioned the Arena in Riddle of the Ancient Aeons, I hoped there would be an episode based on it. And now we got it!
"Don't mess with us...pew pew pew!" That made me crack up so hard :)
The episodes just keep getting better! I haven't seen the 2k3 series yet, but I plan to so, ya... Love ya Andre! ^-^
So much fangirling ya know me XD I loved all the references, and flashbacks! I hope we get to see the turtles go to the battle nexus!
I remember the breathing thing. This one episode has 4 episodes of the 2003 series all in one! It works. Were missing the Federation though.
They did it in the comics originally and that's why it shows up in the 2003 series. (Slowed breathing/functions)
Hadoken! Hadoken! Shoryuken! Finish him! Duh-Duh-duh!
Fatality!
That was an awesome Episode for few references from 2003 series and Street fighter Mortal kombat!
This episode makes me want to re-watch the 2k3 turtles again
Do it man. I rewatched the entire 2003 TMNT last year and it was awesome. It was even better than I remembered. Rewatching it brought back a lot of memories.
I think I will and I agree 2003 TMNT is awesome and will always be my favourite.
The meditation in an airlock thing is from Doctor Who too. The 4th Doctor (Tom Baker) at least did it a few times...
I hope they have Usagi in this at some point
I've been wanting for that to
I'm from the UK and I've got a lot of Teenager Mutant Hero Turtles (TMHT) from the edit into and a lot of scenes of Mikey's nunchucks edit out and we still got scenes edit out in the 2012 series mostly Donnie and Mikey's weapons (the blades being deployed) but that's censorship reasons for ya.
Not necessarily from 2003 solely, but I NEED. USAGI.
yes!
So... what's gonna happen to these space versions of the April, Casey, and the Turtles? Keep in mind, the ones with the Fugitoid are about six months ahead, their past selves are still on Earth.
XD
Just poking the bear here, but uh... Dinoooo Chaaaarge... also I want that Year of Luigi poster.
Now...
USAGI! USAGI! USAGI! USAGI!
The meditation scene was definitely in the 2003 series followed by both Michelangelos being ecstatic over breathing normally afterwards.
Another episode based on a 2003 episode/Mirage issue. I loved it!
I loved this review Black nerd comedy. You nailed it right in the head. Good job. ^_~
It's a reference to what the turtles in 2003 did. Chi Gong or internal breathing
Awsome review Andre!
What I keep hoping for is the Battle Nexus Tournament, I'm like please make this happen next season or something
Andre how would you feel if there was a series basis on Fast Forward or Back to the Sewers.
I'm hoping they bring the mythology of the dragon warriors they did in the 2003 version, where the turtles fought the original shredder the demon version or when they all got seperated into 4 different dimensions
Michael Ironside (Darkseid) is the voice of the Triceraton Emperor!!
omg I just finished watching episode 8 and omg Andre your going to love doing this review.
Hmmm I would love to see Baxter Stockman return to a human form and become all robot similar to the 2003 incarnation. He was one of my fav villains in that version of TMNT
pretty sure zeno was a nod to the xenozoic tales comic. anyone remember caddilacs and dinosaurs?
I just like how after Leo does the Shoryuken Raph says that he's thinking of the wrong game.
I'm kinda wondering why they need to collect all the pieces now. Since the Triceratons can't build one themselves, can't they destroy the piece they have, rendering the other pieces useless?
This was pretty much the same scenario in the 2003 series except instead of a black hole generator, they wanted the Fujitoid to make them a teleporter
Have u done a review on the "turtles forever" 2009 or 2010 release? if not u should. always wondered what u would say on a review
I haven't watched very much of the 2003 series so it didn't remind me of that, but I was having major flashbacks to the original comics.
I loved it, and I want "Mr. Touch and Mr.Go" in the 2K12 series, also any of those underground mutants with their crazy designs.
Zeno was the biggest triceraton ever and scary to the way he beat the turtles to death hopefully we'll see him when the turtles get access to all the other pieces of the black hole generator/heart of darkness
*too
They did the meditating breathing thing in the 2k3 episode Turtles In Space Pt. 1, s02e01 ouo
I just started watching this incarnation of the franchise, is it just me or does April's dad look uncannily like Joss Whedon?
well I would love to see the evil turtle clones from the future. in tmnt fast forward they intro 4 clones of the turtles who where bigger, faster and stronger then the originals. they where so cool and would love to see them again here
the other character I want in this show is Miyamoto Usagi the 2003 version.
It was actually Adolescent "Alien" Warrior Terrapins, not Hero. Still sound like something from a TMNT bootleg, though. XD
I only had two problems with this episode:One was the fact I felt I was watching an abridged version of the 2003 version of the story. I get it had inspirations from it but the fact it was so simular was off putting for me.
The other one is why they went with a new character Zeno if he was basically Trimaximus? Just seemed odd.
props for the year of Luigi poster
The breathing technique was from book II I believe.
I'm not sure if you've already answered this, but who is your favorite villain (other than Shredder)?
I havn't seen eny episodes of this space - season of TMNT but I just watch your recaps because I like them 😂
