This is one of the most helpful marketing videos I've ever seen, really helped justify the 200 over the 100 for me.

Ralph, really good tips that I had never used on my 200! I'll definitely be using them now!

I have two of these (including the Advanced model). While the GRR-RIPPER works great on small pieces like in the video, it has limited capabilities on long/large pieces of wood. Also, the green gripping material slips as soon as it gets any saw dust on it. You will probably need to clean it after every couple of cuts . . . Great concept though.

Suggestion number two seems to go against the rule of not "double-fencing" the piece. Isn't having it restricted from both sides risking binding against the blade?

Daneyleb, great question, it is vital to always be looking out for safety. The answer is no, there is no real risk of binding here since the GRR-RIPPER legs are holding the cut and off-fall halves parallel to the blade as the GRR-RIPPER follows the rip fence. The Stabilizing Plate keeps the off-fall part from wandering away from the blade, but it is fixed relative to the GRR-RIPPER, so it does not push the off-fall part into the blade like a feather board would.

I have trouble routing end grain on my router table when using a locking miter joint but. The workpiece is tall against the fence. Would this help keep piece from being ripped from fence and decrease tear out?

Seems like an expensive and complex solution to simple problems. Great if you like gadgets.

As a DIY/hobby woodworker I bought the Gripper 200 mostly for it's safety aspects. Apparently, Art, you have benefited from someone who "knows what they are doing" and who was willing to spend time with you so that you, too, could learn those practices. Your diligence in applying and practicing them has allowed you over time to master them as well, so you may not need "expensive gadgets". I started in woodworking (WW) later in life after a long career in marketing. I learn about WW from videos, like Ralph's, reading articles in WW magazines and occasionally attending seminars at my local WW retailer. I mostly work alone in my shop, but I also benefit from time to time by running things by a couple of my more experienced WW friends. I'm learning, enjoying making projects and feel good about the progress I'm making. The Gripper may be "a complex solution to simple problems" for some, but this "gadget" is of great help to me. Using the Gripper keeps me feeling safer around dangerous tools I have yet to master nor completely feel comfortable withd, plus it has the benefit of helping me produce a higher quality of work in my shop. I wish you well, Art.

Well said Joe, I have one of these jigs and made one eight RIP cuts. For me you get a little nervous useing the saw with out the guard, with practice it's a good tool. Planning on getting another soon for long cuts.
