My husband is signing up for coast guard at first I was concerned about how often will I see him but this video helped me I’m sure I’ll be fine for the little while he is gone for bootcamp .i really just wanted to know what to expect because i want to be with my hubby .
I'm trying to join at the moment and am married too. Any new opinions of how it all has been since 5 years?
They have two bills for education, the Montgomery Bill and the GI Bill, one is soupy for the military member and one is transferable to anyone in the family. That's what our recruiter told us.
That's Texas:)
Good Choice young Man, Coast Guard is Excellent Branch of Service.
I just found this channel, I ship to boot camp in 3 days, Oct 3rd! Im going to go watch all your videos now.
Question, So if I get stationed on a cutter after boot camp and I have to live on the ship What do I do with all my things? would I have to keep it in storage, would I get a barracks room where I can keep my things while im on the cutter? Do you know how that works? thank you.
Hey just seen your comment, did you make it through?
Wondering this now in 2022. Think i'm just going to put my stuff in a storage unit
@@teufelhund53 wait for you finish boot camp and give you orders they will tell you if you get on the way or not and they do move you and give you a storage but they pay for but until you get your orders you will know they teaches you on boot camp.
You make great vids man stick with it !!!
Hello Julian! great content! is it in reserves or active duty? I talked to local recruiter and he said that active duty go for 3 months overseas on the boat and come back? is it true, or i got him wrong? Thank you
Thanks for answering my question. Loved the video
I want the coast guards but I don't want to leave my family for months and months at a time. Is that likely to happen? I'm thinking me or bm
Question for you I will be shipping in July and I want to do IT
How is IT as a career in the Coast Guard?
My main focus is cybersecurity
Thank you
Hey man, i was wondering what happens if your stationed somewhere single, then want to get married. so if im single, then marry, will i be able to move off of the boat and get a house?
What if you go through the bootcamp with your spouse? Do you both get stationed in the same location after graduating from bootcamp?
Hey man, sweet video. Are you still in Tampa? that's where I live too.
I’m speaking to a recruiter about joining the Coast Guard and my only concern is being away. I have 3 kid and a husband and I’d miss them so much if I have to go in a cutter. My recruiter told me that most the time people volunteer to go on cutters so I’d most likely not have to go in one. Is that true?
The Coast Guard is a "Sea Going Service"...
This may be a stupid question, but is it smarter to get married before you enlist or is it better to wait until after you've graduated from boot camp?
Thank you for the info! I really appreciate it. :)
What about if you date another coast guard and want to get married? Is that dangerous?
I am really scared to get married to my soon to be coast guard husband! IDK what to expect
Hey my girlfriend is going to the coast gaurd and I wanted to join her on that journey I'm wondering if I marry her will that restrict her from being stationed in certain places or taking certain missions and I'm wondering if this is true? Because I'm looking to actually join with her so would that affect her any way?
3:19 Is that still the case? I'm about to join the reserves just for the TA.
Good morning brother. Thank you for your videos. Just a question how about if you want to marry a foreign person (other nationality than USA) is it easy or they don't allow that?
Hi,
Let’s say you just graduated from boot camp and and are placed somewhere, and you get married to someone who also just graduated from boot camp, as well could you request to be placed at the same place they are?
If I plan to do 2 years active and the rest reserve will I still get the benefits since I am married ? Or will I have to do 4 years so I can get the housing allowance for me and my wife? Thanks
I was wondering if two people in the coast guard from the same unit can get married in A school on a weekend? Like if one stays behind and the other goes off to BM A school? or if one graduated BM A school and is now at their new unit and the other is now in A school?
You mean to tell me that they don't send married Coasties to places like Bahrain,Iraq or Africa? It sounds like you're saying the way to not get deployed is be married? Please if you can clarify
What if you single and don't want to live on a boat? I really want to join, but how do I get my strict parents on board with this idea? Any advice?
@@militaryjourneymen thanks for the reply. But the guardian? My parents are strict than that!!
My boyfriend is in basic training in Cape May right now. Wondering if you had enough time to write your family. Haven’t gotten any letters yet. Let me know how that worked out for you! Thanks!
Julian Miyata thanks for the info!
If my husband goes to AMT A school would we still live together or would I have to live alone while he does that?
I'm considered 'special needs' and me and my boyfriend have been furthering our relationship to the next step of engagement. Hes been asking me what I thought about him going through the SNP and staying at a land unit instead of being out on patrol for so long, my question is : Would that affect him in any way or could it? I dont want it to hurt his career in progressing in any way.
I know certain amount of sea time is good but I'm not too sure about land units ?
You didn’t need to say you were special needs
@@ReCoN-o sorry if this offended you. But I was commenting to the host. I am stating the truth to get information. If you don't like my comment please disregard or dislike. Thankyou.
If youre married how does it work between bootcamp and your 1st unit? Can you go home and have household good moved to your duty station then check in?
Yes
If you had the girl you wanted to marry, but you also wanted to join sooner than later… would you recommend joining and figuring it out as I go, or marry before enlisting. I’d rather not get married at this point in time but ill wait if it will be a great hassle to see my SO with us only dating. Not really sure how the military helps living situations with girlfriends. I kinda figured you had to be married to have any leeway on if your SO can be with your or not. Anything would help 👍
They don't help gfs, only spouses
My fiancé is thinking of enlisting and we wanted to wait until after our son is born to get married he will be born in 4 months and we’re getting married in 5. Should we move the wedding date up or do you think he will be able to still make our wedding date?
My girlfriend and I want to join together. If we get married will we be able to get stationed together?
I thought you could still go over seas. I'm going through the process now to join
The only options are pretty much Bahrain and Cuba from what I’ve seen (then again I just graduated boot camp a week ago) I’m sure there are other options but the kids going overseas from my company that’s where they are going
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I heard or saw somewhere that if you move with your family there is help to move your belongings such as furniture, etc.
luigi7711 That is correct, the government will provide moving services. Doesnt have to be w/ your family, if you happen to live in a house and you need things shipped, they will do so as well.
Jan Valle thanks man I appreciate it!
Hey there julian. I'm currently a Marine. I enjoy the military life but my wife doesn't like the whole deployment idea thing. What are deployments or patrols like for the coast guard? You said 6 months is really long?
@@militaryjourneymen Thanks!
I'm dating a guy in the Coast Guard and he is a boatmen. We havent been dating that long, but I really like him and want to continue a relationship with him, even when he moves cross country. Do you think it's even possible to be in a relationship like that or should I just move on when he leaves? I've never been in a situation like this with a guy I like.
Stay with him. If you like him and he feels the same way just pursue the relationship. Forget looking for someone else. You don't need to waste your time haha
@@averagedan3282 thank you so much for the support. I wish I had good news, but he broke up with me on Saturday because he doesnt think he can support a long distance relationship in the coast guard. I'm a mess
@@graphicnovellife Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” - James 1:2-4
@@graphicnovellifeI'm so sorry to hear that. Just know what God has in store for us is greater than what we can even imagine. @@averagedan3282 if God is real, he hates me. He wants to see me suffer. Why else would the only good man I've ever met and loved come into my life and then leave not because he wanted to, but had to. It's just a big reminder that I am never going to be good enough and dont deserve anything good
How long you guys go overseas????
What if you are your spouse are both in the coast guard?
i have a question so i going to go to basic training soon and me and my girlfriend are thinking about getting married is there any way i can marry her after basic training?
Yes
What if I’m not married, but I have a child with my gf. We’re just not ready to tie the knot at the moment
Julian Miyata thanks for the reply Julian! I would like for my gf and son to live with me while I’m in the CG
am I able to take my family with me while I attend A school?
Julian Miyata oh ok that makes sense. It would be my wife and child. Looking forward to serve in the first district area if possible but I'm still debating between MK and IS rate.
What about if you want to move in with a girlfriend
If my hubby only left on weekends will I be able to go with him ?
I think it’s called reserve 🤔 he would only leave on weekends but work normal 6 to 4 during the week
Military Journeymen okay cool thank you so much
Whats the longest you had to go without seeing your wife? And how often did you have to leave?
Little over a week and was just once for hurricane response.
@@militaryjourneymen wow. So If I get married before bootcamp. The chances that I have to go on a cutter for months at a time are drastically reduced? And I have the choice for a land unit that basically never goes underway if I'm married?
@@militaryjourneymen Are you an ME in the coast guard?
Here's some advice from a former married Coastie. Don't get married while you're in the service. Any branch !
now you need to elaborate plz. i have 2 kids with my gf. i was planning on going in single but still thinking about doing the civil marriage so i can get the marriage benefits and have my kids with me..is it more stress and disaster waiting to happen? i dont really want to marry her but for my kids sake i was going to take the hit.
Does anyone know if this is only for heterosexual spouses?
It's for ALL spouses as per federal guidelines
So stay married to my husband so I can get better benefits and etc .. k bet !
I'm gay and I'm married, hope i can still join the coast gaurd and receive all befits of also having a wife ?
😂😂
Do same sex couples receive the same treatment?
Are you like part Asian in any way?... Just curious. 🤔💭
Oh cool!! So I'm I. From your dad side or your mom?
@@militaryjourneymen omg😍😱❤️ same were like twins!
How old are you exactly? 🤔💭
@@militaryjourneymen lol 😂😆🙊 well thanks for all of that information? Lol I'm just plain 19 years old. How many months? Don't know 1 month, hours 144, and seconds? ⌛ lol you do the math. 🤐
Im never getting married. I have an extreme low opinion of women.
