    Wow, this brings back memories! I was Corporal in a M109 Charly company in the Dutch army and participated with our battalion in Free Lion. At minute 5:21 you see a battery of M109's in position, I am not sure if it is our C battery or if it is Alpha or Bravo but I remember this Free lion very well!

    Vielen Dank für die die schönen und beeindruckend Filmaufnahmen von unserer Heimat, danke auch an die holländische Armee, die in der freilaufenden Übung, den Verbund der Waffengattungen zeigt, schade das unsere Regierung in Deutschland unser Armee so vernachlässigt hat!

    The netherlands really did have a sizeable military at this time. equipped with lots of tanks of newer variants like the leopard 2. these days tho, sadly the netherlands only have 12 tanks that are borrowed from Germany, having sold off its massive tank force to smaller european nations like finland and the swiss.

    I doubt the Netherlands are able to have 30.000+ troops on one exercise today. European nations like Germany, France, Belgium and so on should re-institute compulsoary National Service.

      thats right, the dutch army of today, is in a deplorabele state.
      outdatet equipement, no tanks.
      The current leadership is unable to carry out such great exercises.
