I live in rural USA , Two year old German Shepherd male intact I've had since 7 weeks old . Our biggest expense is good quality dry food which runs us just under $100 a month, everything else maybe $500-800 for the entire year . I groom him and treat his minor issues myself from home when needed and possible , spend 24/7 with him , but I am also partially disabled and only work part time from home . So it costs about $2000 a year for one large dog here , but that's doing everything yourself day in and day out religiously. I also have to clean and vacuum every single day , we take showers together, I have no life , he is my life 😂 .... Like one of the few highlights of our year is coming up where we can try to get ourselves some fresh venison and I mainly do it for him lol
AlliKat, thank you for sharing! Indeed, dogs are incredible creatures because of the way they make us feel. I'm happy that you have his company around. Which dry food do you buy? We switched to Acana Large Breeds a couple of years ago. Vacuum cleaning is endless with big dogs at home 😄 automatic vacuum (a robot with self-cleaning container) become our best friend recently, I just start it every morning before work and it makes a huge difference!
Hi, I have a 1 year old female GS. I live in the same county you live (I recognize the landscapes). I spend a bit less in grooming, but more in the trainer. I put my girl in a hotel for 13 days, this summer, and I didn’t like the experience. I need some advices on grooming and hotel companies, if you can. Congratulations on your videos, I don’t miss any. Cheers. MB
Hey Mario, please DM me on instagram @my.giant.schnauzers and I'll share the contacts of the groomer and hotel. We tried different groomers, at different prices but two years ago we found the best groomer, he specializes in this breed. Love his work.
I think that really depends on where you live. I live in Czechia and it is more affordable then your list
That is absolutely true! it depends on the country, as well as on the particular aspects of life of each family
