This is super informative, Joli! I don’t really use a lot of oil on my hair but I’m going to bookmark this for future reference as you told me a lot of things that I did not know!
I know a lot of people who don’t really use oils at all that’s truly okay too. I just get annoyed by these rules to never ever do something without a definitive proven reason.

Coconut oil absolutely causes static in hair. It is one of the reasons I do not use it all. I believe it is because it blocks moisture, and if the hair underneath is dry it can become conductive. In my heat test one of the products I was using had coconut oil and the hair became super staticky during the sweeps with the flat iron. It was most interesting.
Thank you! Yes, that is very interesting. I tried so many shampoo bars, all based on coconut, such a waste of time and money, and a lot of hairtrouble on top. Good to know this. My shampoo bar adventure is over for good, that's for sure 😉👍

What do you recommend for shampoo, and a clarifying shampoo

The shampoo helps to prevent mineral buildup so it helps keep your hair from getting yellow from minerals. They have fragrance free options on all their products.

Any thoughts on macadamia oil?
I think any hair oil works for the right hair type and if it does what you want it to do that’s great. Macadamia oil is like most nut oils, yellow in its raw state, so it may be better to use it blended so it reduces the yellow.
