When using your card for payments in Brazil always select credit. The debit option will always return an error when using foreign debit/credit cards. I'm in Brazil at the moment and that's what I learned quickly.
Hi Sly.. I'm from Rio de Janeiro..me and my wife traveled to Salvador between February 1 - 4..our days in Salvador was magic!!..I'm fascinated by the city..my wife loved too...the are undoubtelly better than the cold waters of Rio..
You always go straight to the point in your ‘tips’ videos and it is always appreciated. I did not know that about the time zone being ahead of New York. It’s interesting that a city this full of culture and history does not have a lot of English-speakers. Basically, it’s one of those hidden gems like Ecuador. I had to watch this video twice because some of the visuals had me distracted😏 (seriously all the sistas in these videos are on-point)
I'm a independent international traveler. I lived in Buenos Aires Argentina for nearly 10 years. And I traveled to Brazil in December 2019 for 30 days. If you plan to stay for some time and not be a typical tourist here is a hint in traveling to South America research and study a local soccer team, oh yeah don't use the term soccer they hate that term in South America 😉. Use the term football. This will make the local people stop ✋ and have a conversation with you all the time. This is just my opinion and experience. A great video and good information 👍.

Greetings from the Bay Area! As always another great video Sly. I like the detail information you provide in your videos, please keep up the great work.
I've also come across stores that wouldn't accept credit cards but would accept debit cards. The reason why is that they refuse to take the 3% cut from the processing fees of credit cards. For smaller stores, not accepting credit cards might have less of an impact on their profits if they already get mostly cash paying customers or those that don't mind using debit cards.
hey this iwas very helpful.... im coming to salvador next year.... what camera are you using and how is it positioned? it looks like you are able to vlog without drawing much attention to you
Hello Sly! There's small amount of people that do know how to speak english but are to shy to interact with foreign people but IT IS very small the amount of people who know it since most of us don't get the opportunity to have good English classes. Anyways, hope you had a good time while you were here! 🌟
The adaptor thing is an example of beaurocracy stupidity. Back in the 90s, 2000s we used the same plugs of US. Imagine because a beaurocratic decision, 200 million people had to change their plugs at home.
No one speaks English??? BS !!! But it's true hahaha... I am from Salvador, I am living in Michigan now, and I speak English since I was a kid... but you are right. Nice to see your video!
I’m planning a trip to Salvador Bahia in 2024. Your videos have been the most helpful. Thank you!

One VERY good thing about Sly's videos, it's never about him. It's always about info, and I mean authentic info.

😂 I don't blame you. There was a lot of "visuals" off camera as well. Also, thanks for the support👊🏿
As if the whole world had to speak english! The American arrogance is bottomless.

Thanks for the tip and yea, they hate the word soccer in Latin America lol.
RIP Pele
Just don't wear Flamengo's kit. Although Flamengo is very popular, it is also very divisive, nearly everyone who does not support Flamengo hates it.
No Brasil, importante não usar camisetas de times de futebol, por conta da rivalidade entre torcidas, em alguns estados isto pode ser muito perigoso

Salvador is also located in a Bay, as the name of the State Bahia, means Bay in english.
Thanks Solo Traveler. I hope the vids continue to help💪🏿

I can see that. Just today, I went into a store that had a big sign saying they don't accept credit cards. I'm guessing it's because of that fee.

Salvador, Bahia is more Afro-Brazilians live. Not many people can afford to go to school to learn English.
